Just an update for any one who may be browsing...

UVA was an outstanding choice, great people, great faculty, and great friends. OCI (OGI as they are referred to at UVA) were good for such a bad economy. I landed a summer position at Mayer Brown and am incredibly happy with the firm. It's lots of hard work but it is satisfying work and a great work environment. I was accepted to two "secondary" journals but then was notified that I made it onto the Virginia Law Review which has been a great experience.

The following is my advise to people who are looking to go to law school. The economy is rough. Firms are not hiring as many summer associates as in years past. I took a HUGE chance going to UVA with no $$$$ and passing up on Emory's scholarship money. It worked out for me but that doesn't mean it works out for everyone. In hind sight, knowing what I know now I would have taken the cash and gone to Emory to be safe. I am not usually a person who takes big risks and in this economy I took a HUGE gamble on UVA and it did pay of through desire and hardwork. I hope to do a clerkship after graduation and then work in a firm. I have no desire to teach or becoem a judge. Hopefully everything keeps working out.

I apologize jcheste8, I incorrectly categorized the status of the wake application, I have not yet sent it in. I will be taking the Dec LSAT and will apply afterwards. Sorry about the confusion!

Hey, you and I are on much different levels in this whole process but I came across your profile and felt I should congratulate you on such a great job. Getting accepted into Emory and offered a full ride is amazing. My main goal is Stetson personally, a school that would love to give you money (Tier 2), but it is good to see humble people that have done well on the LSAT and getting into places they want to go. I practice averaged 155-158 but didn't do so hot when it mattered. The LSAT was rough. Best of luck though to you.

On all the acceptances. And those published numbers are somewhat off. I don't let Vandy get you down. Last year 70/82 with my numbers got into Minn and they deferred my application. I was stunned. Anyway, good luck with UVA.

I was also offered 96k at Emory. Need to decided today. Can go to either Georgetown or Texas. What do you think?? I'm not feeling great about Emory either...
