Visited BC, Harvard, BU, Suffolk, Northeastern over my Thanksgiving break. Write-ups for BC, BU, and Harvard are on my blog.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

11.25.07 Decided to add more schools to my list. Also decided to take the December LSAT. Not sure how that'll affect my application cycle, especially the schools that have had my applications for a month.
11.27.07 Spent most of the afternoon on the phone with WUSTL and LSAC. Apparently, anyone who applied on Nov 2 wasn't processed correctly, for whatever reason.
01.05.08 Just got back from a 3 week vacation and got my mail. Deferred by Fordham in a little white envelope (knew about this one from the status checker "2nd evaluation"), but accepted to BC in the big white envelope.
01.15.08 Small white envelope from UH with an acceptance.
01.17.08 At dinner I get a phone call from a UH Law Prof welcoming me to the school and asking if I had any questions. I love that kind of personal touch.
02.04.08 Small envelope with a GW rejection. 1st one of the cycle, though I'm sure more are in store.
03.22.08 Large envelope with Wake Forest acceptance
03.25.08 Waitlisted at UT. I'm going to ride this one as long as possible.

Haha yah. I know I am not good enough for T14 but i am hoping I am good enough for T25 (or T28 since i like Notre Dame too). but i do need a good LSAT score as my GPA is extremely average and mediocore.

Just wondering -- looks like we sent in our UH apps at roughly the same time. Did you get notification that they'd received your application/that it had gone complete via email?

  • Thursday, December 13 2007 at 11:58 PM

I think you have a great shot at BC....actually BC is probably my first choice at this point, but if for some reason I get an admit to Notre Dame or WUSTL (or super reach, USC or UCLA) then I'd have some serious contemplating to do. Is BC your first?? Oh and where's your blog? Id love to read about your visits...

I wanted to add public congratulations Melissa. LAH is totally in the house. If we both don't end up rocking Houston, then we will rock those other schools like Reacting to the Past.

  • Question
  • Wednesday, December 19 2007 at 07:08 PM

If you don't mind, may I ask how come BC is such a top choice? I go to school in the Northeast and the last thing I can imagine wanting to do is go to law school in Boston when there are other similarly-ranked options available. What appeals to you about Boston/BC? If you get into UT will you consider there? It's one of my top choices - wondering if there is anything to be concerned about in general from an "insider". Thanks for any thoughts you might be able to offer!

I don't want to bog down your comments with too much personal information etc. If you're willing to share some UT-specific info (such as housing info) I'd prefer it over e-mail where I could ask you what I'm concerned about. But, if not, that's fine! Thanks for all the information! It's so great that you're in at one of (if not the) top choices. Yay! :)

hey again! so what are you thinking for your 1st choice?? are you going to try and attend the ASD at BC in April?

- bringtheraine
  • BC Open House
  • Tuesday, January 29 2008 at 09:46 PM

I guess they don't officially call it a ASD or ASW... it's just a small note in the folder they sent out w/ the acceptance on the "Information for Admitted Students" page, it says there will be an "open house for admitted students on April 4th" ... w/ more info to come.

  • similar situation
  • Thursday, March 27 2008 at 02:45 PM

Yes, we certainly are in a very similar situation. I'm riding the UT waitlist for now, but I'm not sure for how long. Come July, I'm going to need to start thinking about housing at my next choice. I'm having a tough time deciding between UH and Colorado right now. I'm assuming you received the UH law center fellowship?? If so, have you received the letter in the mail with the details? I'm just wondering what it says because I haven't received mine. What is your next choice after UT?

According to this, UT hasn't given anyone any kind of decision since 4/10!?!?! Is the admissions office taking a month long vacation or what?!?
