Extra Curricular Information

Worked for an independent magazine in college, and was a team member for a major advertising competition during senior year. Other than that, I can't say that I have a lot of college extracirrculars to offer. These days, I spend all of my time at work.

Additional info & updates

12/1 - Held for further review at UGA. This was initially upsetting, then I saw a lot of people with similar numbers were rejected. So for now, I'll rejoice that I'm not completely out of the running yet

12/3 - Went into "Administrative Review" at Wake. That seemed a little early considering that they do ED and I didn't apply until 11/23. At least I have another status checker to stalk...Also I went complete at UNC with explicit instructions to never call the admissions office. Let the 6 month waiting game begin!

12/4 - I'M GOING SOMEWHERE!!! First acceptance! In at Baylor with a nice chunk of cash. Yay :)

12/8 - Went into review at Minnesota. I fully expect a ding, but a girl can dream.

12/10 - In at Rutgers. Hollerrrrrrrrrrrrr

12/16 - In at Houston via e-mail! Guess I'm gonna have to schedule a trip to Texas soon!

12/18 - I've decided to take a major gamble and apply to UT. I am well aware of the fact that this is a major shot in the dark, especially since I'm applying so late but I'm on a good Texas streak. *crosses fingers*

1/6 - I got a fee waiver from DePaul so I've decided to go for it. I'm starting to think I just really enjoy being judged by adcomms.

1/12 - In at Albany. I'm eager to see if I get any scholarship information.

1/19 - I got into Seattle on 1/15 but I just noticed it now! Serves me right for abandoning my paranoia and not looking at status checkers for a whole weekend :) This is exciting since I'm actually very interested in the school.

1/20 - Got my scholarship info from Albany. $20,000 a year if I stay in the top half of the class. It's a great deal but still mildly disappointing since it's still very expensive.

1/25 - Good things continue to come!!! In at Temple via status checker! Also got a sweet packet from Seattle with news of the President's scholarship and some actually interesting information about the school!

1/26 - In at Seton Hall with the Chancellor's Scholarship!!! I have some tough decisions that I have to start making soon.

2/4 - Waitlisted at Wake Forest. I'm a little surprised, but I'm welcoming suggestions in terms of what I can do to get off the WL.

2/8 - In at DePaul with a fairly generous scholarship!

3/4 - I visited Seattle over the weekend and I was not too thrilled with the school. I love the city, I think I was hoping they'd provide me a compelling reason to move cross-country and they just didn't. I visited Temple and I loved it, so they are in serious contention at this point.

3/8 - Found out I got rejected from Texas. I'm not surprised and certainly don't fault myself for trying :)

3/10 - WL by email from Georgia. The email was actually very nice and made me feel optimistic that I might get off. We'll see. I just find it hilarious that they held my application for months, only to wait list me.

3/15 - THRILLED that I was able to get a renewable scholarship from Temple. I'm going to go celebrate with a cheesesteak and an "It's Always Sunny" marathon.

4/7 - Waitlisted at UMN. I consider this a good result since I really thought I'd get dinged right away.

4/15 - Put my down my deposit at Temple. It was not the easiest decision to make, but after spending over a month weighting options, it was definitely the best one.

4/19 - Officially a UGA reject. That didn't take long!

4/30 - well the dream is pretty much dead. I finally received my UNC Waitlist, just under the buzzer. At least it's not a rejection. Debating if I will stay on, and for how long...

Awesome about the full ride to Baylor, but I still think UNC is going to happen. Call it a gut feeling.

Wednesday, October 01 2008 at 08:00 PM

Good luck to you too! I think with our numbers, there's still hope for UGA. Apparently they were practically auto-admitting anyone with a 164 or higher, and we're pretty close!

Another Full???

You got a full schoolly @ Rutgers too? SO JEALOUS!

I realized I mis-read it... I know too many of the yearly prices by heart. Still very cheap.

Thanks! As always, I am surprised and honored that any school would offer me a scholarship. Your Baylor offer is really amazing too!

Congrats on Seattle! I'm from NJ as well and am very interested in relocating to Seattle. It'd be awesome to have some other NJ people there! Good luck on the rest of your cycle.

Congrats Again!!!

Yay!!! Congrats on Seattle!!!

Seattle

I'm waiting on my decisions from Seattle U. and U. Washington, but if I get in there's a strong possibility I'll be going. I'm in review at Seattle and waiting to be reviewed at UW right now, so I'm crossing my fingers!

Thanks!

That sucks. The only thing I could think of telling you is taking the LSAT in June or sending another LOR. No clue why they WL'd you!!!

DePaul
Tuesday, October 20 2009 at 08:00 PM

Yay for you on DePaul. That reminds me, I need to book ASD on 3/6 (It's definitely not a top choice now, but I want to go to Chicago!)

In at Seattle
Tuesday, December 15 2009 at 07:00 PM

Just got my acceptance today! Is Seattle one of your top choices? I definitely want to go visit and check out the city. How do you feel about moving so far from NJ? I'm a little bit torn.

Tuesday, December 15 2009 at 07:00 PM

Thanks, that'd be awesome!

:/ That's so too bad. I'm already planning to go to another open house when Seattle's March open house is scheduled, and their other open house in April is after seat depost is due. I've been going back and forth between Denver and Seattle, and I think Denver makes more sense for me. Denver also offered me more money, plus you have to stay in the top 25% of the class at Seattle to renew the scholly which scares me a little scared. I think Seattle may be out of the picture, especially after hearing what you have to say. I've also already paid to visit Denver, and I don't want to spend more money to visit Seattle if I'm this unsure. Well I guess I won't be seeing you in Seattle... good luck with the rest of your decisions!!

Haha, you're not creepy at all! Thanks for the note about UNC. I actually sent them an email asking what's up. I'm still not sure about the wait list, I'm giving myself time to calm down (although I did just put a Wake Forest decal on my car.) You're having an awesome cycle though! I would love to go to law school for free! Best of luck to you!

Hey!
Friday, October 16 2009 at 08:00 PM

Hey! I love connecting with TLSers on here! I've seen your profile on here before and had no idea you were also a TLSer! What killed me most about the Wake WL was that I was more confident about getting into Wake than I was UNC so if I couldn't even get into Wake, my chances of getting into UNC were next to none. That's been reinforced now with LittleMissLawyer's WL at UNC since she got into Wake and I didn't. If she didn't get into UNC, I can't see how I will. I'm still managing to hang on to hope though! Here's to hoping we both get good news from UNC and UGA! :D

Hey--congrats on your cycle thus far! I'm checking out Seattle in 2 weeks, can you tell me more about it!? Feel free to email me, thanks and good luck! Jon

We have really similar numbers, schools, and results! It was waitlist day today for me, too, with both Georgia and Wisconsin sending me emails within an hour of each other. Good luck on everything!

Thanks, Psychedeliclax!

It really was a dream scenario. I never could have guessed that everything would work out so nicely. Best of luck with UNC. They can be a little slow in making a decision, but it's worth the wait. I visited and was very impressed with the students and the programs they offer. I wouldn't be surprised at all if you got off the waitlist at UGA or Wake. Both are fantastic.

By the way

That's a great scholarship from Baylor. Wow!

Did you apply separately for the scholarship, or did they just award it to you up front?

UNC WL
Friday, October 16 2009 at 08:00 PM

Yeah, I didn't go about announcing it. Took me over a day to actually put it on LSN. Bit of denial, I guess. I'm doing everything I possibly can to get off of the WL though. Hope you get an email and not a snail mail soon!

I don't blame you. They do call it "boot camp for lawyers". Sounds like it could be a pretty stressful three years.
