Extra Curricular Information

Since the cycle is basically over, here is all the information you can handle for the next group of folks.

Graduated from UG in 3 years, the first year was at a community college.
Worked as a middle school teacher for two years.
Master's degree in Computer Engineering (3.8 GPA)
Worked as a Software Engineer for 6.5 years
I work for a small company but I am high up on the food chain. I wrote my first computer program (as in hello world) 6 months before getting my job. I now serve on an advisory board to the board of directors. All of my leadership experience is in a work setting. Over the course of my career, I've managed about $20 mil of software projects.
I owned my own recording studio business which turned a nice profit and you can find a few things I've recorded at Best Buy (albeit, usually in the bargain bin).
I've run marathons and done century rides for charity,

Additional info & updates

I got my acceptance from Emory very fast in the mail, but the $ came several months later. This was true for all scholarships they gave out that year.

Although I got a fee waiver from Loyola, I actually applied the day before the waiver came in the mail. They refunded my app fee when I called. Acceptance was via snail mail. I was interested in practicing in LA. However, once the money came from Emory, I couldn't turn it down to go to Loyola.

Fordham acceptance came via e-mail. I actually really like Fordham although it was cramped, but it was just going to be too expensive compared to Emory. I also thought Emory gave me a few more options after school. This was actually a very hard decision.

Orginial Cornell Reserve list decision on 3-30-07, the date above was letting me know that I was released from the waitlist.

About my applications: I did something stupid, something I do not recommend to anybody. I was practcing LSAT in the 167-173 range. I took the Dec 06 test and afterward thought I had NAILED it. I then applied to: Penn, UVA, NYU, USC and Boalt before I had received my score. Trying to get my application in early. When I got my score, I felt sort of foolish. I then applied to other t14 just to see what what happen. I was really surprised by my Penn and UVA waitlist.

In retrospect, I maybe should have applied to less t14 and more of the BU's and WUSTL out there. In the end though, I'm not sure I would have chosen any of them over Emory (or the schools i was rejected from).

I also took the LSAT again in June just to see if I would do better and to maybe help get off waitlists. I got a 164 again, although I answered 5 more questions correctly (the scale was tough!).

From the start, Penn was my number one choice followed very closely by Boalt. I made it past the first round of waitlist cuts, which surprises me as well. I did write a Why Penn essay and I visited there before applying. About a week before I applied, I met some people from the admissions office at the Atlanta LSAC forum and we talked a while. They both remembered me when I was there to visit. I don't know if this helped, but I don't think it hurt either.

Hey there. I have the same LSAT and am applying to NU also. Just wondering if you've had your interview yet and/or how you felt about it. How do you feel the chances are of getting in with a 164?

Sorry to see your news from Berkeley. Are you interested in either UCLA/USC? Hope they get to us soon.
