Additional info & updates

7-19-07, Signed, sealed, delivered. CYCLE COMPLETE. I'm attending Northwestern and thrilled to have the opportunity to do so. I've got my apartment in Chicago all set, and withdrew today from Cornell. At long last -- almost 10 months after I sent my first one out -- I have no outstanding applications.

(Just to be clear, since NU seems to be moving on their WL again today, I was accepted off the WL in late May)

---

6/06 Mailing from WUSTL suggesting I apply. Also under consideration for applications: Univ. Wisconsin, W&M, Emory, and Univ. Minnesota.

8/06 fee waivers from a bunch of random schools I won't be applying to.

9/26/06 Received fee waiver from GWU. Solid.

10/22/06 applied electronically to several schools now that my PS and other supporting materials are completed.... Will be applying to other schools as soon as I'm done with their supplemental essays.

10/28/06 I officially heart schools that let applicants do everything online (including payment). Schools that don't... well, not so much.

10/30/06 Only two applications to go -- both will require additional work above and beyond the materials I've already developed. Over/under on when I'll hear from the first school... I'll guess December 11th.

11/3/06 Complete at Georgetown (same), Vanderbilt (via e-mail), and Minnesota (via e-mail). WUSTL, and Cornell seem to be a bit slow in requesting my file from LSDAS.

11/25/06 received a mailing from WUSTL indicating they have everything they need to consider my file. On the advice of some folks in the legal world, I may add applications to American & George Mason.

11/27/06 complete at GW via phone call -- apparently they don't send anything to tell you, but if you call you can find out pretty easily.

12/6/06 complete at GMU via e-mail. They say a decision is not likely until mid to late January.

----

Decision dates = date received

12/12/06... back from a trip and only one piece of law school mail. Deferred at UM-Twin Cities. Not sure what to make of that. Letter dated 12-6.

12/15/06... Georgetown status checker just went to "Decision." Not going to lie, I'm driving home extra fast tonight to check the mail.

12/18/06... Dinged at BC (white 8.5x4 envelope), not surprised based on their prior-year data and a seemingly high emphasis on GPA as opposed to LSAT.

12/19/06... deferred at Georgetown. White 8.5x4 envelope. Scared shitless that it was a rejection when I saw the envelope. Not sure about strategy yet, but I'll be making a full court press with Georgetown in the weeks ahead.

12/23/06... deferred at Cornell via small 8.5x4 envelope. Expected a ding, so this works just fine for me. I will be sending in the card expressing continued interest, but I am sort of lukewarm about how long I will now be waiting for a full decision (March or later!).

12/30/06... accepted at Ohio State via a 8.5x4 envelope. No word yet on scholarships. (revised: Ohio State extended a very generous multi-part scholarship offer via mail... I've plugged in $1 into the box here on LSN, because I will not be disclosing scholarship offer amounts online until after the cycle is over.

1/12/07... in at Minnesota-Twin Cities via phone call after being deferred in mid December. Nice! A few days later I received a packet via mail outlining scholarship info (sweet!) and other details. As with all other offers, I will not be posting actual dollar amounts until the cycle is complete.

1/23/07... big, dark yellow acceptance package from GW for their part time division. HECK YEAH. Nice note from the dean about my background on the bottom, and a lot of things to read through.

1/24/07... In at WUSTL via e-mail. Details to come via snail-mail apparently. Hooray!

2/2/07... Waitlisted at Vanderbilt. Decision came in a small 8.5x4 white envelope. I will be expressing continued interest, as Vandy is among my top choices. Hear the QOL there is awesome and the professors are top drawer as well.

2/14/07...in at George Mason via a large 8.5x11 envelope. Ship it holla! I requested the PT program, but I'm in full time. Hmmm... I'll have to call them about that. I assume they will let me switch if I matriculate.

2/28/07... complete at NU. That was quick.

3/2/07... Preferred waitlist at GULC via a nice, one page letter in a cream colored 8.5x4 envelope. When I saw the envelope my heart sunk, as I had heard these were the ones for rejections -- so I was relieved to say the least when I saw the PWL indication. I will be making a full court press to convert this into an acceptance. [edit to add, this was a "PPWL" using LSD terminology]

4-6-07, I've finally received at least some kind of initial decision at all of my schools.

4-11-07, Withdrew from Minnesota, Wash. U, George Mason, Ohio State, and Case. Deposit is in at GWU for their part time division, though I will take a serious look at any offers I get from my waitlist schools.

4-17-07, holy freaking crap in at Cornell via e-mail.

5-17-07, second deposit in at Cornell.

5-25-07, Northwestern comes through. And to think I almost didn't apply. Behold, splitter power! Wow what a day!!

5-29-07, After quite a bit of deliberation, it looks like I'll be sending my $500 deposit to NU and withdrawing from Cornell at some point. (still haven't yet as of 6/28)

6-07-07, GULC says they're full in an e-mail to waitlisted folks. Sad to say so, but I'm withdrawing.

6-9-07- My info is back up. I'm just elated at the acceptances I've got so far, and anything further would be icing on the cake. I've got the "A" for attending up next to NU, but I will still give very serious consideration to UVa if they offer. Did I mention I think Northwestern is just flat out awesome? Can't wait to start there in the fall.

6-12-07, U.Va via phone call. Hmmmmm.

6-15-07, informally withdrew from GW PT on their 2nd deposit deadline by not sending in a check. Really liked it when I visited and would have been happy if I had ended up there. Good luck to those on the WL!!

6-20-07, formally withdrew from GW after receiving an e-mail asking if I was still planning to attend. GW is a great school with a fantastic admissions staff, and I wish everyone heading there or waiting on seats the best. Also, after some thought I've decided to let the U.Va offer pass... NU is just going to be a better fit.

7-7-07, we're just about wrapped up folks. I'm still sitting on two acceptances and one waitlist, but expect all that to change come Tuesday. For the Cornell WL people stalking me (yes, I know you are...), I do hope to withdraw on the 10th. I just have one last little thing I have to do before etching my cycle into stone once and for all.

to you applications. Go Bucks!

Vandy
Saturday, June 03 2006 at 08:00 PM

Thanks for the luck! You too; I'm going to keep an eye on yours. As for Vandy, I keep going back and forth on it -- I really like Nashville, and went to college in Memphis, but I can never tell if they'd actually let me in or not. I should probably research them a bit more.

LSAT
Monday, June 12 2006 at 08:00 PM

How did you prepare for the LSAT? I take the test in December and I have been studying for about a week. Is it common to struggle for the first couple weeks of preparation?

wish you well
Monday, July 03 2006 at 08:00 PM

will be watching your flow this cycle...wish you well! Georgetown is one of my highly desired..

good luck on those apps - there are more splitters here than i thought...

Good Luck
Thursday, November 30 2006 at 07:00 PM

To you too! Especially if you are looking for part time, it looks like you have a good shot at Gtown with that LSAT. I'll be following you this cycle!

Deferred at UMN
Wednesday, September 20 2006 at 08:00 PM

With your high LSAT I am surprised to see you got deferred. I got deferred as well with somewhat similar numbers (lower LSAT, slightly higher GPA) Good luck on the rest!

Fordham
Sunday, March 19 2006 at 07:00 PM

I received a white envelope (it wasn't really thin, it had three sheets inside) in the mail. Best of luck to you this cycle, we do have very similar numbers!

bummer on BC
Sunday, October 22 2006 at 08:00 PM

Not even deferred huh? i applied w/ slightly worse #'s so I'll be expecting the rejection letter any time now. Good luck on the rest. What's ur top choice other than GULC and GWU? Lemme guess, BC/BU?

UMN
Wednesday, September 06 2006 at 08:00 PM

Congrats, did you do much follow up with them?

Wow...
Thursday, November 09 2006 at 07:00 PM

First person on LSN off the UMN deferred list. Im impressed. Do you think you did anything in the follow-up phase to get you off or do you think it was mostly a product of your very nice looking LSAT score? Either way, nicely done. Im sure you are going to have lots of good choices for schools. Thanks Molly

Thanks!
Saturday, March 25 2006 at 07:00 PM

Yeah thanks!!! I hope they let you in two, you and I seem to have a lot of the same numbers so I hope you get in too! You should get in the NU app - you know you interview with them, right? I think that went well for me. Normally I don't pul for buckeys but I'll pull fory ou to get in! :D

Nice Stats
Monday, October 30 2006 at 07:00 PM

Good luck this cycle. I went to DECISION at Michigan yesterday, and I'm pretty pesimistic, but ... the magic 8 ball promised good news. We'll see. Come on, mailman! Thanks for the well wishes and have a great cycle.

Congrats!
Wednesday, October 18 2006 at 08:00 PM

On GW!

Congrats on GW!
Tuesday, June 13 2006 at 08:00 PM

Gives me hope :) Did you receive a phone call prior to the package?

GULC
Tuesday, June 13 2006 at 08:00 PM

Thanks for the kind words :) I'm definitely rooting for us at GULC! Good luck with the rest of the cycle!

tell me about it
Wednesday, July 12 2006 at 08:00 PM

Oh my god, today was definitely nuts, capped off by almost killing myself on the way back from the office. WHY DO THEY NOT PUT THE SALT ON THE GROUND? Nevertheless I am still smiling like a baboon. Pretty safe to say GW though, yeah. I'm going to wait and see how financials turn out -- but at the moment, GW is the easiest commute after work (and then home after class), the best academically, and the smartest financially. Unless something changes with money... I'll be GW '11 :D

thanks!
Sunday, March 19 2006 at 07:00 PM

hey belated congrats to you too. i'll probably be at GW unless i hit t14 or get substantial money from the 20ish schools.

GULC
Thursday, January 25 2007 at 07:00 PM

GU sent me an invitation sized envelope with three small pages. I'm sure you will get in, my GPA is a little better, but your LSAT is a lot better. The applications are down this year as well, so favors us. Good luck and I hope to see you in class next year!

THANKS!...about GULC

You're next. Congrats on already great DC accepts.

nope
Tuesday, December 19 2006 at 07:00 PM

I applied EA, not ED. Got my WL pretty quickly--pretty much all of my apps went out on the same day and GULC got back to me the quickest. Good luck! See you in March Madness?

good luck at GULC
Sunday, July 02 2006 at 08:00 PM

..otherwise, we might be classmates.

GULC
Thursday, January 25 2007 at 07:00 PM

P-Waitlist is a great sign. If you look at lawschoolnumbers a lot of people admitted with high LSAT's aren't even going to enroll, so I definitely think you are going to get in.

fordham
Thursday, November 09 2006 at 07:00 PM

Got the fordham letter too (I applied PT, of course). Did you mark "either PT or FT" for reconsideration, if ya dont mind me asking? ...Best of luck.

thanks
Saturday, October 07 2006 at 08:00 PM

I got into the PT program at GULC.

NU
Saturday, January 21 2006 at 07:00 PM

Thanks for the message. I'm very glad to have made a decision. In the end I decided I had to take money out of the equation (hard oh so hard). I doubt NU will give me any money but thats ok.

Thursday, September 21 2006 at 08:00 PM

Way to go with your list of admits. Congrats!! I am sure you are having a hard time choosing between the scholly's and the schools, but I am sure you will be alright. Well fellow Buckeye, much love to you and the rest of your cycle and I hope many more blessings in law school.

Cornell!
Wednesday, October 18 2006 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on Cornell! That's awesome. What's GULC waiting for? Good luck.

From a fellow splitter!!! Nice work on Northwestern along with your other Acceptances. Hope GULC works out for you as well.

re: gw
Friday, June 30 2006 at 08:00 PM

I'm sitting on my GW acceptance until the next deposit deadline (Jun 15), or until GULC says yes. I need to keep a DC option in my back pocket just in case something happens here in town...

freshboi cannot follow directions.
Thursday, March 22 2007 at 08:00 PM

northwestern is ranked higher than both ur 1st choices... gl with them though. btw i answered ur question on my page. basically if your priority waitlisted you'll be in there, if not, good luck... it does help to send them a letter of committment contingent upon your acceptance.

Sunday, August 12 2007 at 08:00 PM

i dont know if you check this anymore, but i was curious to know if you had any work experience or graduate work. I'm a big splitter like you and curious about my chances a top schools.
