Additional info & updates

3/20: I'm going to UC Irvine!

2/14: In at Emory with $26,000/year with no stips. A little disappointed with the $$, but haven't yet decided what I'm going to do (re: GWU and Emory)... largely depends how my visit to UCI next week goes.

1/29: I got a letter on 1/22 admitting me to UCI but saying that I wasn't selected to receive any merit aid... so I thought I was going to withdraw my app/admittance. Then I got a voicemail today telling me that I've been selected as a public interest fellow, which means full tuition and fees would be covered. Full ride definitely puts UCI back on the table as a contender.

1/17: GW scholarship email (found in my spam folder)...$20,000/year renewable with no grade stips...very excited to see that!

1/17: I applied fairly late (relative to my other apps) to UC Irvine... though we definitely don't want to end up living in Orange County after I'm done with law school, they have amazing clerking numbers, so I figured it couldn't hurt to apply. Accepted today via e-mail, but no word yet on financial aid. I would need an incredible aid package to seriously consider spending three years in the OC.

1/10: Although I applied ED to GWU, I found out today that I was accepted through the regular admissions process (i.e., not binding, but also not with the full-ride scholarship). I'm not surprised by this at all, but still hoping for a decent scholarship offer... not sure whether it will be forthcoming.

12/26: Received admittance letter from Univ. of Maryland. Status checked changed to "decision made" on the 20th, but I think it took a few days for the letter to reach me because of the holiday. No financial aid info yet.

12/20: Accepted via e-mail by UNC. E-mail also says that they won't be making any scholarship decisions until March.

12/10: Received acceptance letter from Georgetown. Definitely excited to get in and would love to go, but think I probably won't be able to... definitely can't afford the sticker price without some decent financial aid, which I fear will not be forthcoming. :(

12/04: In at Georgia State via status checker.

12/04: In at Georgia Law via e-mail (though status checker still says my application is being reviewed, oddly enough)... granted in-state tuition because my parents are GA residents.

11/27: In at Univ. of Denver (w/ $26,000 per year) via e-mail. Excited for my first acceptance though it is a safety.

GWU ED

Hey congrats on GTown! I agree with you though - sticker is intimidating. I'm also hoping for the GW ED acceptance. I hear they won't make any ED decisions until after the ED deadline when all the Dec. LSAT scores are in so our cycle is going to be a long one unfortunately. Best of luck!

No GW ED for me either. I heard last week, just didn't get a chance to update till today. To be honest, I already knew it wasn't happening, guess I was just waiting for the ding? But I was admitted to Duke and GT this week so that seriously changes my options. Now it's mostly just a waiting game for scholarship offers. What about you? Made any decisions yet?

congrats/goodluck

Congrats on all of your acceptances! What are your top choices? Also, jw, why is UCI your only CA school choice?

Congrats on $$

Congrats on the $$ for GW. I read a lot about UC Irvine program, it looks solid and they may end up in the top 30 soon. They have great placement. Hopefully they will offer you a full ride. I debated applying, however I felt part time law school was the best for my situation. I am just hoping to hear anything from GW. Best of luck with the remaining cycle.

Congrats back at ya!

Thanks for the kind words and congrats to you as well! It will be a difficult decision to make, including possibly forgoing law school for now, so we'll have to see! Berkeley definitely makes it harder to say no though!

American

I am surprised American hasn't responded. You have many great schools. I am leaning towards Maryland, Houston, Fordham and GMU right now. With Maryland they are scheduling an interview for scholarships so crossing my fingers. Still waiting on GT and GW. Cheers!

Where's it gonna be?!
Monday, June 18 2012 at 08:00 PM

Just checked in to see how everything was turning out for you, and it looks like you're shaping up pretty nicely! Is UCI the frontrunner, or are you still leaning GWU/Emory? It seems like you want out of the state of CA, but a full ride PI fellowship to UCI wouldn't be too bad as a fall back option. So the question is: where are you gonna be?!

Uci full ride sweet!

Congrats on UCI $$. I think you made a wise choice. They have some of the best faculty. Probably going to be t20 in 2014. Best thing is your tuition is free. Cheers!
