12-08-07 - All apps are in

12-17-07 - Complete at my first school, Vanderbilt. That was pretty quick. I hope the others are just as fast but I know they probably won't be. I thought after I got all my apps in I could relax but this waiting game isn't very fun, and I just started.

12-20-07 - I'm apparently complete at Duke as I just received an e-mail saying I've been placed on the waitlist. They are sending me a form I have to fill out and send back to them. It's not great news, but at least they were quick about it. I probably should have gotten my apps in earlier. Edit: It wasn't a paper form they were sending. It was basically just an online checkbox question where I chose whether I wanted to stay on the waitlist or not.

01-08-08 - Accepted at Minnesota by phone. This is exciting news. Hopefully this will help make waiting for other schools a little easier.

01-22-08 - Still quiet except for Minnesota. They offered me some money. In a moment of weakness, I checked Vandy status checker and it says I went to decision yesterday. Now I have that to distract me for the rest of the day or more. Hopefully it is good news.
Edit: I was just accepted to Iowa by e-mail. It will be interesting to see what they offer me when the acceptance materials arrive. I also got an e-mail back from someone at UCLA confirming that I was complete. I sent an e-mail earlier this morning to inquire because I had received absolutely nothing from them since I applied. I actually went complete at some time in the past but I don't know when.

01-24-08 - Accepted at Vanderbilt via huge package in the mail. I feel like I'm off to a good start now. I think I'm going to have to make a tough decision in the next couple months.

02-04-08 - Rejected at Columbia. This was pretty much expected.

02-07-08 - Rejected at Berkeley. I hope I can turn this momentum around before long. Columbia and Berkeley were my big reaches, I feel like a stand a decent chance at the rest of my schools.

02-14-08 - Silence for a week. I'm puzzled about hearing nothing from some of my pending schools. I thought this week would be big in getting responses. Hopefully I hear from some next week.

02-28-08 - I'm on hold at Northwestern. I'm marking it as Deferred because there is not hold option and I think they are close to the same thing. This bums me out but I don't really want to pay full price there anyway, so I think I'll withdraw. My upcoming Vandy visit has my excited and I've heard they started sending out their merit scholarships so hopefully they offer me something. My Minnesota visit went well. I haven't heard anything really bad about Minneapolis except for the winter weather, so that is still definitely an option.

03-01-08 - Vanderbilt scholarship info is here. 15k merit for 3 years, 5k need for 3 years for a total of 60k. This makes Vandy my #1 prospect for sure.

03-03-08 - In at Texas via phone call and big envelope

03-08-08 - Texas scholarship info has arrived. I received in state tuition along with 7k per year. The money above reflects the difference between out of state and in state tuition as well as the scholarship.

03-17-08 - Waitlisted at UCLA. I withdrew immediately. I'm basically down to deciding between Vandy and Texas.

03-18-08 - Rejection from USC. It surprised me to be flat out rejected, but I wasn't really that serious about the school anymore, so no big deal.

03-24-08 - Iowa is out. I've known for a while that I shouldn't go there with my other options available, but it was still hard to say no to all that potential scholarship money. Anyway, now that I've withdrawn I feel better.

04-04-08 - WLed at Michigan. I've already accepted this fate, and I don't want to wait around to change my plans. I'm going to be happy at either Vandy or Texas, so I'm not going to do the Michigan waitlist form.
Edit: I also heard from WUSTL today. It was a waitlist, which seems like a strange result. Anyway, it feels good to know I don't really have to wait around anymore. Cycle Over!

04-10-08 - I sent in my seat deposit to Vandy today. I'll be sending out withdrawals to all other schools. This may be my last post here, I hope this profile can be of use to future law school applicants!

04-21-08 - Scholarship increase at UMN. I guess my decision isn't for sure yet.

Scholarship Info:
MN offered me 15k per year with the stipulation that I maintain a 2.5 GPA.
IA offered me full tuition with the stipulation that I stay in the top 1/3 of the class and do a 10 hr/wk Research job during 2L and 3L.
TX offered me in-state tuition with 7k per year on top of that.
Vanderbilt offered me 15k per year merit and 5k per year need scholarships.
