**Some good advice for fee waivers: some of my fee waivers were sent after I received my LSAT scores but most were received because I asked for them. I simply sent a "generic" email to every school's admissions office that I was interested in stating (more or less) that I was financially strapped and a fee waiver would really help through this expensive process (applying to LS). I had about a 90% success rate with this and it probably saved me $600 in application fees. Try it. The worst thing they can say is NO. **

2/1/10 -- Got a late start due to a Dec. LSAT and some difficult professor LORs... Complete apps at almost all schools so should hear something in the next couple weeks. Hopefully this will be a good cycle...

2/16/10 -- Received my first acceptance from WIDENER (stat checker/email) ! Good to know I am going somewhere next year... No Scholly information yet but hopefully that is OTW. Maybe this week I will finally start to see some action...fingers crossed...

2/22/10 -- Couple more acceptances received over the past few days... AKRON (stat checker) and NYLS (stat checker/thick white envelope). Kind of expected to be admitted to both but it is still a relief when it actually happens. Akron is giving me a full scholly (29k) and NYLS is offering a renewable 15k scholly... The NYLS has some strings attached to renew but I'm hoping they can be negotiated if it really comes down to it.

02/24/10 -- Under Review @ PSU, PITT, HOFSTRA, and RUTG/NEW... This wait blows... PITT is probably my top choice so these next couple weeks will truly be agonizing. They don't even have a Status Checker so I'm forced to wait for the mailman everyday... CANNOT WAIT TIL THIS IS OVER!!

02/27/10 -- WL @ MARQUETTE (via snail mail, thin white envelope)...Kind of forgot I even applied there so it's not that big of a let down. I'm more than likely going to withdraw from consideration. (edit: in hindsight, the "why Marquette" essay I wrote with my application was done last minute and probably came across as somewhat disingenuous; this likely didn't help my chances of admission... FWIW)

03/02/10 -- In @ HOFSTRA (stat checker) and RUTGERS-CAM (via e-mail)!! This is a promising start to a potentially BIG week... Lots of apps under review!! Hopefully HOSFTRA/RU-C will show me the $$$...

Denied @ PSU (via e-mail)...No way to write this without sounding bitter but oh well! PSU was not even in my top 10 from the beginning... They cost $$$ compared to my other "top" schools and they don't even place grads that great. I expected a DENY/WL this cycle because they are playing a big numbers game according to LSN and their past year 25/75/MED. Last time I checked, they aren't in the TOP 3 in any market in the Mid Atlantic.. THANKS PSU, BUT I WILL SURVIVE W/O UR ADMIT!! HA!

03/08/10 -- NO UPDATES!! Seriously?

03/11/10 -- In @ QUINNIPIAC (via email)... No scholly info yet.

03/12/10 -- "Held" at RU-NEWARK (via stat checker/e-mail)... Who knows when I will hear back (edit: they told me I can expect a "reread" of my file around/before April 15th; this makes it less likely that I will be heading here. oh well...) Felt as if I had a better chance at RU-N compared to RU-C but so far it has worked out the opposite way. Sigh... More waiting...

03/13/10 -- In @ PITT!!! (via snail mail, small white envelope)... Awesome news! PITT is one of my top choices and there is a very good likelihood that I will be there next year! Some Advice to future 0Ls; use LSP as a "general" guide or a way to kill time but don't be discouraged if they "predict" DENYs for you. A good PS, WE, and/or addendum can overcome a lot despite what people on TLS tell you.

03/15/10 -- 25k scholly from QUINNIPIAC (via snail mail, small off-white envelope). Also withdrew from WIDENER; no $$$ makes this choice unrealistic.

03/17/10 -- WL @ DREXEL (via stat checker).. I then quickly withdrew from consideration. They have been difficult to deal with throughout the process and I would not have even considered attending without serious $$$. They are too new for me to take the risk in a Philly market that is already competitive enough.

03/19/10 -- Withdrew from consideration at MARQUETTE... Their early exit from the NCAA Tournament clinched my decision. Washington?! Really? (LOL)

03/22/10 -- WL @ VILLANOVA (via stat checker). But, I then withdrew from consideration; I was never really crazy about NOVA because of the $$$ but I applied because I got a fee waiver.

Denied @ ALBANY... Maybe YP??? Oh well...

03/23/10 -- In @ SUFFOLK (via snail mail/large white envelope).. No Scholly Info...

03/24/10 -- Another "HOLD" @ CASE-WESTERN (via email)... They said a decision is not likely until the end of April. These "holds" seem to be a friendlier way of WL people. Regardless, I will likely have made my final decision before I ever hear anything from RU-N or CASE; oh well, their loss!

03/29/10 -- Reject @ W&L (via small white envelope); WL @ TEMPLE (via stat checker)... Also got $5k scholly from HOFSTRA in the mail. Regardless, I'm pretty sure that I will be ending up @ PITT next year. I really enjoyed the ASD and the city seems great. Time to start withdrawing my other apps... TG this process is over!!!

04/28/10 -- Send deposit in @ PITT so I will be part of their 2013 class.. Felt the need to make a comment about the two schools I still have not heard from; Seton Hall and UDenver... WTF. I understand I got fee waivers but I still spent the time doing the apps and gave stupid LSAC $12 per app... Is this not enough to even receive a decision? Haven't heard a peep from either one in about 2 months; thank god I'm not relying on them... Sorry for the rant but WTF to these stupid schools...

Finally tally is a respectable 10-6-7. Not too bad consider my low UGPA made almost every school a "reach". This stressful period of my life is now over so it is time to look forward to the next one; 1L!. Nice numbers! Congrats on your acceptances also and best of luck with your Temple application. To answer your question, yes, I do plan on keeping my current job while I attend Temple in the evening. Maybe I'll be seeing you next year.

Thanks! I'm rooting for you to get into Temple as well! I too got a late start on apps, due to the Dec LSAT and some lotrs that weren't in until Jan. We might be waiting longer, but hang in there! :)
