Extra Curricular Information

Wrote my personal statement on my war refugee parents, learning English as a second language, and my love for web source programming. It's abstract, but I made it work and I'm actually quite proud of it.

As for softs, some internships, volunteer work, and study abroad. Worked part-time through college. No officer positions; very few honors.

Addendum for my sad GPA. Thank goodness for upward trends. I know that's a big scar on my apps though.

Additional info & updates

6/24/2010
In at Chapman via big envelope in the mail. And that's where I'll be going. It's the most practical choice (I'll be saving so much money on housing!) Before you ask, I'll be withdrawing from the other schools now too. :)

3/11/2010
Out at Hawaii via email. Looking at LSN, it looks like quite the bloodbath today.

3/03/2010 ----
Received Temple's acceptance package. $12k/yr with a 2.50 GPA req.

3/01/2010 ----
In at Temple via email! 1 LSP prediction defeated. xD

1/27/2010 ----
Out at Berkeley. No surprise there, but I'm glad I tried at least!

1/26/2010 ----
Official letter and scholy from Hofstra. $20k, renewable on being top 40%. Another nice note from the Dean.

1/20/2010 -----
Accepted to University of the Pacific via fat envelope in the mail! Offered $15,000 for first year, renewable if in top third. Very kind handwritten note from the Dean.

1/19/2010 -----
Accepted to Hofstra University via email!

I've also applied to some far reaches knowing that I probably won't get in, but just in case there's a miracle. The answer is always no if you never try, right?

12/30/2009 -----
Waiting for all of my LORs to show up on LSAC... I feel so late with applications compared with everyone else. =/ Kind of freaking out.

12/07/2009 -----
Made a profile after stalking this site for the last year. Hi LSN world!

Indeed my lsdas GPA is depressing. I improved so much near the end of my college years that I was getting Dean's List, but it wasn't enough to cancel out the first couple wasted years.

Thanks! It looks like we were prep testing in the same area and got the same score:( I had some issues with the proctor's timing, but it really wasn't worth complaining about. Thanks for the kind words and good luck with your cycle! Maybe we will be classmates.

I'm not sure. I don't know if I can handle the cold of Chicago anyway, but I think I'd probably go with the $18,000 with no GPA req. I like the peace of mind of not having the GPA stipulation. You never know how talented your class will be. Good luck on your cycle. Maybe I'll see you at one of the California schools.

Thanks!

Thank you, I'm actually very excited about Chapman. I went to their open house and they've become a very feasible option. Congrats on your acceptance, I bet you've got alot more coming!

Hi Help. I only wrote one paragraph on my parents, and it was to set the circumstances of my life. It's definitely not cliche to talk about your parents, as long as you relate their experiences to yourself, how they influenced your values, what you learned, etc. A advisor told me that great personal statements can be divided into to structures: a Obstacle story, and a Metaphor story. With the first, take challenging event in your life and discuss how you overcame it. In the latter, take something you love in life and relate it to law. Try one of those approaches and then get multiple opinions on it.

Congrats!

Congratulations on the TEMPLE acceptance/scholly! Im in kind of the same boat as I am not "predicted" to do much according to LSP... Have had some success so far and I'm hoping I can add TEMPLE to the accepted list very soon... GL the rest of your cycle!!!

Hey! Thanks, and good luck on the rest of your cycle. Hopefully my withdrawing can open a spot for you at San Diego. And Hawaii's better for vacations anyways ;).

haha, no worries, and it's true too! Plus, you just saved yourself from 3 years of eating Spam and that's always a good thing. Anyway, I think you'll definitely get in somewhere awesome.

Congrats!
