Even though I applied for the summer of 2018
received an email today stating my application was complete and would be in a review soon for a decision in two to four weeks even though I have yet to take my 3rd LSAT
Some schools consider your file complete even if you are scheduled to retest if they think your score won't increase by much so I've been told so I'm just hoping that these schools see my potential and accept me fingers crossed
Good job on the increase! The highest LSAT I got was 134. Retaking for the 3rd time in Feb. I was going to get my application in before the end of the year, didn't know they think that w out a score
@Ahoward9 I'm retaking for the 3rd time in December i wouldn't send them in until you retake because even if you tell them that you are planning on a retake they will consider your file complete and use the scores and average you already have. I recommend using the power score company for study material it helped with my increase
How do you think you did today??
Whatever happened with FC? Were you able to defer? Why not go there?
@dmoore27 Ugh, OK well ima get them done before the end of the year still. Thanks I I was wondering how that worked, I was not ready in Dec. I used powerscore but I'm getting 7sage this week. I need online tutorials n stuff. I got a tutor n I'm hitting 140 now. So there's hope lol. Howd you think dec went? I'm ready to be done w this test, feb gotta be it for me
@dytmomx3II i think I did well i finished a few sections in a record amount of time which was a first for me also FC is a shame after i spoke to them they withdrew my application without permission and never returned any of my emails in regards to why. I couldnt start in the this fall because i am in an MBA program which i should be done with in the next 3 months
@ahoward9 I think it went okay im really not sure i dont want to be discouraged since this is my third time and i dont want to have to take it again. Youtube has a lot of LSAt videos so that helped. I wasnt able to study like i was when i took it in june because of school. Im just praying for a score in the 150s so i never have to take the test again. I hope in febuary you are succesful. I wish this test wasnt the end all be all i feel it doesnt show what potential we have to succeed in law school
@ahoward9 I highly recommend 7sage. I currently have the $179 package and it's great, I am already grasping concepts I never understood before and seeing this test in a new light and understanding, so many things are clicking now.
ive never heard of 7sage if I have to take it again (Praying that this isnt the case) i'll have to look into it. Powerscore is what I used during my 10 point increase so ill take anything to improve my scores
@dytmomx311 yes! That's the one I got the 179, I can't wait to start it tmrrw. Seems like a good deal and I like the way they explain things. Powerscore was too detailed it was too much information almost overkill. I also been using the LSAT for dummies book, got it for like 3 bucks on Amazon. It helped things click for me quicker than powerscore! When are you taking again?
@dmoore27 it's so hard to judge that test when you get done. That's good you finished sections! A 10 point increase is great wow! Yea fc wrong for that, but I heard they might be closing. I'm going to apply to Barry too and John Marshall ATL. Yes I feel you, I don't want to take again but my score too low. I hate that this test is the big factor, I'm very smart just not the best test taker, does not measure my intelligence but ima be a test taker now lol. Ima beat this test.
@ahoward9, Exactly i can be a horrible test taker, im just hoping the scores are better this time! yes beat the test dont let it beat you!! And maybe FC is closing because that was so shady and a waist of my money. I just applied to charleston law and im going to apply to capital. I dont think i can take anymor rejection. I'll sit for the test one more time if needed but thats it
Haven't heard from Wayne state yet? I am anticipating a rejection since they haven't sent me a decision yet.... it's dissapointing! I wish they would just reject me if that's what they want. The little hope you have only to get rejected MONTHS later ... sucks!
@legal1234, no I havent heard from them yet but I have hope I feel as if maybe they may be waiting for my new score from this December test. Keep hope alive! Thats what Im doing but I did feel that way the other day I havent had any movement on any of my apps
Ugh! Thanks for the positive vibes. Still difficult though when I applied early on in the cycle and haven't heard back from any schools! And I didn't even take the december lsat so not sure what they are waiting for. I've heard Wayne send out rejections after the Christmas break so we aren't depressed right before the Holidays lol. Still holding on to that hope though! Best of luck to you and praying we get those acceptance letters!
@legal1234 I completely understand I applied the day applications open so I'm just like hurry and let me in or let me down so I can plan! and if that's true that's still torture lol Hopefully we hear something in the coming weeks! best of luck to you as well fingers crossed!!
Why do they tell us 2-4 weeks a decision will come in? You mean 2-4 months?!?
@legal1234 I totally agree!! The process is way longer than what they say
Finally heard from them, told me they were putting my application on hold until they receive my December scores
Hope you are pleased with your score!! Keep us posted if you will.
I heard the same thing via a law school solicitation ! Im kind of scared ! Why are they coming out so soon is what Im wondering ! Will update !
My score decreased by 10 points
I have 5 applications out and just prayinf the use the highest score and that someone accepts me. Willing to sit for the rest a 4th and final time this time with much more preparation. I took this test the first and 3rd time while being a full time student and working 2 full time jobs the second time I was out of school focused on studying and work. If I have to retake praying I dont and am offferend admissions by if I do Ill take a few months off from school focus on studying and register for the June test but praying I get into one of the 5 schools I have applied to
Or a personal tutor. Take time off school. You can do it. Don't give up.
I was looking into 7sage Im going to see what happens with the apps that I have out now and then go from there. Its just very disappointing
I know the feeling of discouragement. It knocks you to your knees. Grieve over it for a few days then continue to keep moving forward. You can do it.
Thank you for your words! definitely not going to wallow in it, going to continue to push forward and hope for the best
My status date in the status checker changed to 1/4/17. However, the status is the same (under review). Maybe this means a decision is upcoming? Did your date change?
My date did change yesterday and today so Im hoping to hear something soon
My date changed today too. I don't know what it means but it doesn't look good... :(
Is this your first application cycle? When the date changes it means that people from the committee are reviewing your application, everyone reviews and goes over your material extensively before they combine as a whole committee to make a decision. Keep your hopes up! Im trying to do so!
Yes this is my first application cycle so I'm not sure how any of it works. So how many times can this date change before a decision is made? I'm assuming it can vary but was wondering how it was in your experience.
In my experience that date can change every other day until a decision is made sometimes it takes 2 weeks sometimes 4-8
I was also rejected today. It appears they do send mass rejections after all. Disappointed but I expected it. It was a reach school for me.
I was keeping my hopes high, most schools send out acceptances and rejections all at once. Where else did you apply? I reached on a couple of schools but Im very hopeful for Charleston and Texas southern as well as possibly Michigan state
I also applied to university of Detroit mercy. I didn't bother applying to Cooley because of there reputation. I'm limited to Michigan schools and we don't have a lot of options over here.
I thought about applying to Detriot mercy because I'd like to stay here in Michigan, I don't want to have to end up back in Ohio. I applied to cooley twice did there pep program raised my LSAT and still didn't get in
They must be taking your average score instead of your highest score then because the 50th percentile lsat score for Cooley is only 141.
I had errors in my essays that me and three other people didnt catch so they may have thought my writing skills were terrible but Im glad I didnt get in with all the trouble they are having with the ABA
Good luck with Capital. They're one of my top choices. Are you sitting for the LSAT again?
Im not sure, not if I get into one of the 3 schools I have applications out for but if not I will definitely resist. My mom wants me to go to capita because its close to Akron. My file went into review today so we shall see! Did you go to Cooley or are you just going to wait?
I am waiting. I deferred. But, really hoping to pull through on the LSAT. I've been studying and have had an increase in PTs, so I just need to mimick that on test day. You should give NKU a shot. It's practically in southern Ohio, although it's Northern Kentucky, just on the border.
You can do it ! I never wanted to be in Ohio again but if I have to I will the upside would be In state tuition and Ill have to look into NKU Im just drained from paying lsac fees
Capital has made a decision but I have to wait for the letter
They may have offered you their summer acceptance program.
If so Ill be decinling I wont pay 500 dollars for possible admissions
I declined it. They offered it to me last year.
Im running out of options if I dont get in somewhere ill Be heart broken
I saw you mentioned errors in your papers. Did you get those fixed before applying to other schools? I would keep trying with the LSAT. We can now take it an unlimited amount of times. If you really want it, I say don't give up. I know it's easier said than done seeing as money does not grow on trees but perhaps seek some professional help for your personal statement, any other essays, and/or resume. In the long run it's a potential investment if it helps. I know, it's risky. Just throwing out options. I was browsing around my LSAC account and found a spot that shows the total I have spent on LSAC, and I am over 1,000. It just adds up so quickly. Have you asked any schools if they would mind discussing any issues with your file? I did that, and 2 were very kind and responsive and said it is my LSAT score. I was concerned because I do not have a stellar GPA, and I also have a few CF things I had to shed light on, so I really wanted to ask if it was just the LSAT before I moved on with paying to study for it, or if other things were holding me back. I believe Capital might be willing to discuss with you if they did reject, they may give some insight if you ask them kindly.
Sadly I did have errors In past essays that no one ever caught until I got ready to apply during this cycle and I fixed them immediately and got them re proofed. I also found that on lsac and Im almost a grand in. I really want this and I dont want to give up its just very discouraging when schools dont let you because of numbers I dont have the best gpa as well because of hardships in undergrad and I just need the opportunity to prove myself I guess. Im still waiting to hear from Capital if I didnt get in Ill definitly contact the dean of admissions as weve already had a few conversations. Im moving back to Ohio in may and Ill be done with my masters in a few months if it boils down to it Ill prep for another lsat test and re take/ re apply during another cycle. This is what Ive wanted since I was 5 outside of making Music I know I shouldnt give up on this
I wanted to, but I can't, I just can't give up. I will keep taking the LSAT until I get a score that gets me accepted. Consider giving ONU a shot. I am already thinking I will be taking June's LSAT. I think you just need to study for it w/no distractions, once you finish that masters then maybe you can sit for June or another test this fall/winter. the next cycle of entering classes will be here before we know it, fall 2019 i mean. Sounds silly but it's true, time does fly. I know how you feel, I really want it too, I always have. We have to keep in mind that things that are worthwhile are never easily attainable. Keep pushing. I am right there with you pushing too.
This site its definitely helpful being able to interact with people in the same position as you. Im definitly going to continue to push forward and try until I cant abynore. I agree if you really want it youll keep going no matter what. These application cycles do come fast I just wanted to already be in school by now but things that are worth while take time I guess
I actually have been looking into ONU for a week now doing research I filled out an application but I wasnt sure if I should send it in, I emailed admissions with questions and Im just waiting for a response. I basically mapped out my situation scores and GPA and asked the likelihood of me being accepted
Sorry to see that. :( I don't suppose the letter gave any explanations.
no just the normal spill of we get more applicants than we can take for our small class. feel free to reapply in the future, the usual
Finally got a response they told me I would be a good candidate for the summer starters program but my undergrad GPA is lower than the median so it would require a holistic review by the committee definitely going to send in my app and see what happens
Are you going to reach out to Capital and inquire further? That's good news from ONU. I think their summer program seems a bit different than the others like Charleston, etc. Financial aid can cover it, sounds like a good program. It's something I would do if offered.
Capital wants a higher LSAT, and yes there summer starter program is very different its an automatic entry into the fall class if you participate (if you make it through the interview) and you have until the end of spring semester to maintain a 2.5 gpa to stay.
Unlike Charleston its two classes for 8 weeks civil procedure and criminal law and once you finish those you dont have to take them in the fall so youll have a head start on your 1Lclasses
Rooting for you and realllllyyy hoping you get invited for an interview for ONU's summer starter program!! Would be interested in seeing if anyone else on this site has experience with that, the interview, being accepted , etc.
Thank you for your support ! Ive been feeling really down as the letters come in and Ive looked at a few different application years on this site and I see some do have interviews but they only interview 75 people and take about 20, hoping I can get an interview
would just like to let you know that i am rooting for you to like others. as someone who is a splitter i understand how you feel, the rejections do take its toll. you have what i have which is the burning desire and passion to go to law school. i wrote the lsat 3 times (registered 5 times) until i got the score that i got. if there is hope for me of all people then you can definitely do it with a way better gpa than mine :).
I appreciate it ! You have a great score I can only hope to achieve that. And yes very passionate about law and getting into law school. Its definitely overwhelming to not gain admissions time and time again but Im definitly prepared to do whatever it takes
definitely let the rejections fuel you to prove them wrong! for myself, the fact that better schools were willing to accept/waitlist me but many of the lower/unranked ranked schools decided to straight up reject me definitely added more fuel to my fire and makes me want to prove them wrong. if it wasnt for my bad gpa i could have gotten into way better schools so thats another chip on the shoulder. have you ever thought of maybe going to a low tier/unranked school for your first year and then transferring out to a better school?
At this point I dont even know where to apply to, I dont know I feel as if financially I need to stay in Ohio but there is not many places to go. I would definitly be willing to go to un unranked school and transfer if someone would extend an offer of admissions. My GPA is just not good on top of my lsat score I had a lot of things the interfered wth my mental and emotional health during undergrad and it shows in grades
Given your #s and seeing similar being accepted I can only guess that something in your essays is not sitting well with adcomms. I know it's a ton of money to spend on top of what's already been spent but if I were you I would consider getting some professional help with the essays. Do you have CF issues that you addressed? Personally I do, and I did get help in writing the addenda. Check out Spivey Consulting or any type of consulting firms. It might serve you well and be an investment in the long run. Do you plan on studying again for the LSAT? if so check out 7sage, the $179 package is well worth it.
No, I don't have any C&F issues outside of bringing cases against other people which don't negatively affect me in any way. I was thinking if I didn't get accepted to any of the schools I have applications out to now I would rewrite and revamp essays. I was also thinking that maybe my letters of recommendation were not strong enough, so I have started asking for new letters of recommendation from different people. (I wish I could have gotten one from the prosecutor's office where I interned he said he would do it and never did since I had to leave to move away). If I have to take the LSAT again it will be when I'm done with my MBA, soi can focus on just that. I have sped up my studies and should be done in may. Really hoping to get an interview for ONU.
I'd get some from any professors you have with your MBA. Are you also working? Maybe a current supervisor. Wouldn't hurt to reach out to someone at Lucas County prosecutor's office to ask again.
Ive asked my assigned student mentor at WGU to write one and I think Im going to shoot the guy at the prosecutors office an email later today. And yes I do work but its in the medical field and I havent been at my current job long only 90 Days so I feel kind of awk asking them for one.
Yeah i think you'd benefit from a revamped application. Also ask your mentor to look over your essays. Ever considered a paralegal job or secretarial position in a law setting?? That might be insightful. I've been a paralegal for nearly a decade now. Made some great connections.
I thought you had to have a degree in paralegal studies to be a paralegal? I did Minor in legal studies but Ive never thought about being in the legal field in that manor it is something Ill have to look into when I move back to Ohio, I was thinking about interning again but in Summit countys prosecutors office
It's not necessarily required, it will be at the discretion of the person or company hiring you. A minor in legal studies would give you a leg up on competing candidates with no education. I do have a paralegal degree but I've worked in a couple of different capacities, such ashort at Law firms and court houses, and plenty of my co-workers did not have any formal education or training.
Such as at *
Ill have to look into Now that Im moving back to Ohio I need to find things to boost my profile/resume. I did like working in a prosecutors office so I would love to work at a law firm with independent lawyers
Ive read a lot on schools when I first started to apply and my number one school accepted me while a safety school did not so I am definitely going to say dont give up! I know you are currently getting an MBA but I would look at schools that have automatic admission to their law school if you do well enough in undergrad. I dont know how useful is at this point but either way. I have an LSDAS gpa of a 2 something so I know you can make it in. While Im sure being in the military helps a little with my acceptance I think the letters and addendums that I sent in helped the most. I was actually denied by northern Kentucky and roger Williams but got into St Marys and Capital with a scholarship so it doesnt seem to follow too close to their listed median scores. Youll get in!
Definitely not going to give up, going to see how this cycle continues to play out and then start working on my next moves. Im definitly working on new letter of reccomenfation and trying to redo my personal statement and addendum before I attempt to apply anywhere else
Finally spoke with some regarding my summer application she advised me to try and raise my score to 148-150 for admission
I totally agree with dytmomx3II that it must be something with your writing samples. I've seen people with worse get into some of the schools you are applying to so it doesn't make sense to me. I got a 146 lsat, so I am not one to tell you to raise your LSAT score or anything like that, but you should totally look into having someone read over your writing samples!
Definitely not taking it the wrong way! Ive actually started ombr write my essays in its entirety.
Started on re writing*
Okay good! Good luck to you! Someone is bound to accept you!
Good luck to you as well!
Spoke with the Dean of admissions just a few minutes ago, my essays werent the problem it was the trend of my LSAT score going up and down. Also that I participated in Cooleys program and didnt gain admission ( Cooley can take all or none from the program despite performance) and the fact that I took legal studies courses and excelled in some but did bad in others for example torts and intro to law only because they were only offered online and I wouldnt wish that on anyone but I need to write an addendum for that. She said get closer to the median and call for reconsideration
Well that sure is nice to get feedback like that. Are you going to sit for the June test? I bet they might still consider you for fall if you take in June and get a higher score.
she said if I sit for the June test I can call and be reconsidered if there are still seats left in the fall class, I dont want to rush the studying process to sit for the June test if I dont get into the last 3 schools I have applications out for i'll most likely sit for the September test. I want adequate time to study like I did last summer. Bummed that cooleys program is weighing negatively on me when I actually excelled in the program. Also good luck with your retake this weekend praying for your success!
Spoke with the dean of admissions and she told me what to do to improve my profile, she said lsat scores and academic history is most important obviously, she also let me know that my graduate school transcript was not attached to my CAS report ( trying to get in touch with LSAC about this) but my graduate transcript could be a good way to show my progress as I go to a school that does not have grades its a pass not pass scale but it details what you must complete to gain your credits and how many credits you are suppose to take each term to keep a 4.0 for example I only needed 8 credit hours or competency units to pass my term as a graduate student but I have finished 21 competency units within my first term and only have 13 credits or 4 classes left to finish my degree. Hopefully I can get the transcript issue figured out because this will improve my sorts. Also received a letter or reccomendation from my grad school mentor and have re written a lot of my essays
Improve my softs * Letter of reccomendation**
Didnt know it was in such a romote, small area and in the middle of a moutain, basically wasted my money. I wouldnt attend even if offered admission.
I'd recommend applying to Widener, I don't think the Harrisburg location would accept you, but you might have a shot at the Delaware campus. They also have a conditional acceptance program called T.A.P.
I did actually request information from the school, it had been in my list I wasnt sure if I wanted to apply, I dont want to do a conditional program I cant afford to relocate for a month and a half and not get into the program
You could always apply and then if they only accept you into that program, withdraw your application
Im thinking about submitting after I do a little more research on the area, possible jobs and housing. I also have to reach out to Cooley because I did a conditional program there and widener requires a detailed statement from myself and the school
Emailed widener on the 15th, my application is all set to submit but I have had no luck in obtaining a statement from cooley in regards to the conditional program i participated in which is annoying and i emailed widener on how to proceed since they require this information
Did your status checker just say decision letter mailed? Mine does, and I'm nervous I didn't get in.
Yes it just said mailed, usually when accepted to a school you get a phone call or text message from the dean. It could be a denial or an offer for the conditional program
I have been rejected to schools for my lsat as well. Its taking a toll on me but I know that i can give up. one school told me to raise my score at least 8 points the other school told me to raise my score and rewrite my personal statement. It made me crazy to think that my personal statement had errors after I had it proofread by my professor. I normally od not test well so i went online to a website called wyzant.com and found a tutor in my area that im going to work with weekly until the june test. He thinks as long as we work weekly I should be able to up my score to a 150. I hoping this is the case. Both schools that denied me said the they will reconsider me once My score is raised good enough to meet there medium. I know its only 3 1/2 months away but try to study as much and sit for the June test you can be reconsidered for this fall instead of waiting a whole year again! good luck with everything and just know your not alone in this process.
Thank you! It definitely drives you nuts, I had 3 different people read my essays and yet Everyone missed the mistakes. Im not sure if Ill be able to devote time to take the test in June my masters program requires a lot of time and I want to make sure I finish strong all all accords. Ill have to look into that website and see what tutors are around. I may take it but Im at this point in time not completely sure. I would like to get into the 150s when I was able to devote most of my attention to studying I was able to raise my score 10 points
im also not sure if you have looked into schools in FL? Barry and Nova usually accept people with lsat scores of 145
I only ever looking into Florida coastal but I have been looking at Barrys stats but I have really thought about if I wanted to apply
Florida Coastal was the first school I applied to just to see how I stacked up. They rejected me one week after I sent my application. I thought I would be admitted for sure. I believe they were in a little bit of trouble with the ABA for accepting students with low numbers. So I think this year they increased their admission requirements. I just wanted to give you a heads up but it still might be worth applying there. Just thought you should hear my story lol!
Thanks lol yes They told me in the fall they would be increasing there median score! im no longer interested in FCLS anyway as there sanctions by the ABA have not been lifted
OH I didnt know they were still in trouble with the ABA. Ya it would not be a good idea to apply there anyway. Always gotta be careful.
Are you still in committee review w/ Dayton? Mine went in to that this morning. Hope I hear something soon.
Yes I am, Im hoping for something good to come from it
Dayton is sort of my top choice. I am dying waiting to hear from them!!! I check the status checker religiously.
I love the campus Im really hoping for good news I also check it multiple times a day hoping for movement
Same. glad I am not the only one checking it often. I toured the campus in 2016, it really is a gem. Knowing I am moving back to Ohio but not sure where is really killing me.
Same, Ive already started taking things back to my home town but Im hoping to be extended an offer of admissions before the cycle is over
Sorry about Dayton. Keep your head up. How did you find out?
I checked the status checker
Have you thought of applying to Mississippi?
I did at one point but I didnt pursue it. I havent done enough research to consider it
I just read your trail of comments...I am definitely inspired by your determination. You WILL get in....keep your head up. My journey hasn't been easy...I have been accepted to U. Mass- Dartmouth, but it just accredited in 2010 ...I am nervous about the school. I have #13 applications out and I've been rejected by 4 schools: NY Law, Suffolk, American, Uof Baltimore. - I won't stop until I get in.
After being rejected 3 months ago Ive just been offered CAP program
I am so happy they reconsiderd! I wish you the best of luck and hope to see you in the fall!! I loved it when I went and toured!
Hey! So happy for you. When do you start? I have a feeling you're going to rock it and do well. A bit jealous because SC is my vacation spot! :-D
Are you applying to more schools? I had similar stats and blasted out my app and used the laws of averages to leverage admissions & $$. If you have any strategy Qs for admissions lmk ill be glad to help.
I am not applying to any more schools I just finished the program at Charleston and I am very confident in my success here
Hey so how did the program go? Did you get grades and do ok?? How do you feel about it? Was it difficult? When will you have a final decision on fall acceptance? Is it automatic if you pass the course and did you? I hope the absolute best for you. Was it online could you do it from home?? Or did you have to go to SC?
Thats great. I have nothing but prayers and positive vibes for you. Its going to be so well-deserved and hard-earned for you. Things we worked hardest for produce the greatest benefits! Keep me updated I cant wait to hear.
Did you pass?!
Did you pass? Please let me know, I've been thinking of you!!

Hey lady. Why the withdrawal from Charleston? Did you retake the LSAT? Best of luck to you!
:)
Got a call to be admitted into the fall class even though I applied for the fall. Unrealistic to make that major move so late
