I was originally Pre-med, so I took up a research position with the head of the Pulmonary Department at Shands Medical Hospital at the University of Florida. Not sure how that will weigh in my application. I hope that admissions boards see it as me trying to supplement my education outside of the classroom, depending on my major at the time.

Active in most Intramural sports (not in my application, just thought it well rounds this section)

Feel free to comment if you have any insights and Good Luck to everyone out there.

Additional info & updates

3/1/10
definitely shouldn't have waited until submission day to turn in my apps... not sure what I'll get into considering my GPA is very sub-par for every school I applied to. That being said I know my recommendations are going to be top notch, and my essays are pretty good I feel. I hope that the softs count for something.

3/28/10
Praying that overnight I turn into a URM....

4/1/10
8 days after acceptance my Loyola Acceptance Letter arrives via snail mail...

Starting to realize that some of my top choices just aren't going to happen, but I'm really going to try to get off the waitlist at American. I really wanted to be in NYC next year though.

4/2/10
Haven't heard from a school in a week...starting to really get edgy, especially with 1st seat deposits being due in 2 weeks.

4/5/10
So seat deposits are due on the 15th, and I still have to hear from 7 schools... I'm optimistic that Cardozo hasn't rejected me yet, it makes me feel somewhat worthy... My family is really pushing for me to go to NYLS over LUC since my sister works and lives up there (thoughts?)

4/12/10
Still waiting on 7 schools.

4/15/10
Placed a seat deposit at NYLS and officially withdrew from LUC and John Marshall, god I hope I made the right choice here. I'm excited to be with friends and family and the scholarship offer helps a little I suppose.

I'm still waiting to hear from the other 7 schools though. But I would only change my decision for Kent, Fordham, Cardozo, Villanova, and American I think.

4/19/10
Application "In Review" at Villanova. I was suppose to get a decision from DePaul 2 weeks ago according to their status checker but I'm still waiting. Also my Cardozo and Fordham applications have been "in review" since march 8th still...hmm..

4/20/10
Okay so today was odd for my applications.
1st, one of my number twins (EXACT NUMBERS) got a decision at Cardozo, congrats on not being rejected twin! But they applied after me (again, with the same metrics). So I'm wondering why they heard before me...

2nd, my DePaul status checker reset itself and now reads "Application in review-Decision in 2-3Weeks" (4/20/10). Unfortunately it said that on 3/19/10 also and I'm wondering why I never heard back.

I wonder if both of the schools held my application for another round or not? Any ideas?

4/21/10
Waitlisted at Villanova. I really would have liked to go there so this hurts. The LSAC predictor said i was something like a 78% chance acceptance there so I am somewhat surprised but I also applied late.

4/26/10
Depaul Decision letter sent, doesn't effect me anyway I'm not going but it would be a great moral booster nonetheless.

Denver: Waitlisted... again no intention of going but the moral boost would have been nice.

I hope that next year (circa transfer time) there's a transfers section up and running on this site, I'd love that.

5/3/10
Got the Denver waitlist letter in the mail but already withdrew. Also, still haven't gotten DePaul decision letter which was supposedly sent on April 26...hmm odd.

5/4/10
Checked my DePaul Status checker just to see if there were any clues about the decision in the mail. I read that the letter was sent on 4/29 so it should come today. 2:15, mail-person still hasn't come. Also hoping to hear from Cardozo this week (fingers crossed)

05/05/10
Dinged at Fordham... I knew I wouldn't get in but rejection hurts. God I'm hoping for a miracle at Cardozo now.

5/6/10
So after thinking long and hard, I called and moved my application to Part-time at Cardozo. Classes start at the end of this month. I realized that this is really where I want to be now that Fordham is out of the question and if I have to start early then I will. Plus Cardozo's PT lets you compete for law review, and after your 1L you're considered a regular student. I'm excited about starting school and moving up there so soon.

5/7/10
In at DePaul via FACEBOOK. Yes, the dean invited me to an Admitted students gathering over facebook before I got the mail today.

As for the actual acceptance..After a week of being in the mail a large white envelope came and it said "Welcome to DePaul" on it. It had been a while since I'd been accepted anywhere so it feels nice to get in again. The scholly wasn't bad either.

5/9/10
Happy mothers day... and it's my mom's bday... and still all i can think about is how schools should be reviewing applicants on saturday and sunday..

5/21/10
Visited Cardozo, it was absolutely amazing. I really hope I get in for the fall

6/1/10
Wait-listed at Temple I sort of forgot I even applied there..

NYLS

In as a Trustee Scholar for $20,000/yr. Do I want to be in Chicago at Loyola or NY at NYLS is the question right now...

so much for batting 1.00

I got my first non-acceptance on Friday the 26th... waitlisted at American, it sorta hurts, but I guess it could be worse.

Congrats

Congrats on getting into some schools, good luck on the rest of your cycle, Nice to see a reach or two with Fordham, American, and Cardozo, most people only apply where their numbers say they are "suppose" to get in, but you get into 0% of the schools you don't apply to.

Thanks

Thanks for the congrats, though I'm actually repping the 704...I'm from NC, just here in G'ville temporarily because of this stupid girl who broke my heart...haha. Anyway, best of luck to you. Congrats on your acceptances so far...if you don't get into anywhere else, I'd pick LUC if I were you, though if you get into Villanova or Temple, I'd go there.

Congrats!

Congrats on NYLS. Their scholarship offer seems decent. Looks like we applied to similar schools. I'd pick NYLS over LUC if I were in your shoes, mostly because of the $ and because they are similarly regarded in their respective regions.

Way to go

Looks like your cycle is off to a good start. Thanks for the well wishes. I predict that you will have a waterfall of decisions very soon. ALL ACCEPTANCES!!

Thanks

Looks like you have a couple good options already and good luck with the remaining decisions. Waiting is terrible, but I am sure you will have lots of good news/options rolling in soon enough.

Thanks! Not only is that true, but we both applied late too. Good luck with those pending applications, and the waitlist at American. Did you send them a LOCI? Oh and I've considered changing my middle name to waitlist. At least they outright aren't rejections.

Sunday, February 21 2010 at 07:00 PM

Thanks for the kind words. Good luck in the next few weeks! Its late in the cycle, so anything can happen. NYLS with $20,000 seems like a good choice.

Thanks

Thanks for your support. Congrats to you on Loyola. That is a great school in, esp in Chicago. Good Luck on the rest of your applications.

Hey! We really are twins; we even applied at the last minute together! Good luck with the rest of the cycle.. this waiting game is killing me! You have some great options so far so be happy!

thanks

NYLS vs. LUC
Wednesday, October 28 2009 at 08:00 PM

I'd take Loyola over NYLS in a heartbeat. From the research I've done - Loyola is fourth in the Chicago area after, U of Chicago, NW, and U of Illinois. For the city of New York, NYLS is behind Columbia, NYU, Fordham, Cardozo, Brooklyn, St. Johns, and Hofstra (Not to mention everyone else from Harvard, Penn, etc trying to get a legal job in NYC). Unless you kill it at NYLS, it may be hard to lock down a job after graudation, esp in the NYC area.

forgot one

At Notre Dame in before Loyola in Chicago - still though, I think Loyola's national ranking doesn't compare to its local reputation - at least more so than NYLS

thanks
Tuesday, March 23 2010 at 08:00 PM

Hey guys thanks I know that by the numbers, LUC is the clear cut choice which is why this is such a hard decision. I have family in NYC and they are really pushing hard for me to be there.

hey, i did take the feb lsat unfortunately and while the results were taking forever to come in, other candidates' apps were piling on top of mine.

Tuesday, March 09 2010 at 07:00 PM

hey there, just wondering if you took yourself off the waitlist for American?

cardozo
Tuesday, March 09 2010 at 07:00 PM

hey there, i will be working at AU and U Maryland for now. don't know about Cardozo. maybe i will be withdrawing. what about you and American, are you attending NYLS? have you withdrawn from AU?
