Professional Geologist working in environmental consulting.

Hoping my professional work history can erase some of the pain from having such a terrible LSAT score.

11/30
Got into Regent via email. Packet on the way. we'll see if they're offering any money.

12/2
Wow got waitlisted at W&L. That was unexpected. Time for a beer.

12/7
Sent an email to Gonzaga concerning the status of my application. I guess there was a glitch with LSAC and the LSR was never generated. That cleared yesterday so hopefully my app will be complete soon!

Hoping to hear from Denver before Christmas...

12/27
Official acceptance packet from Regent including a book by one of the professors. Still no word of any money (that's depressing), but I get emails from them a few times a week and I have responded that finances are key to my final school selection. Maybe they'll shake some money loose.

12/28
Went complete at Gonzaga 12/20. App was sent in 10/11. I wonder where in the pile I will land due to the LSAC screw up. Frustrating!
No word form Denver...doesn't look like anyone else has heard since 12/20-21 so maybe it isn't bad news.

I have a feeling the first two weeks of January are going to be busy.

1/5
Received some scholarship info from Regent. So far I'm offered 5k annually. Kind of disappointing.

In review at Gonzaga, Arizona, and Denver. L&C status hasn't changed, but the date updated from 11-something to 1/3.

1/12
WL at Colorado. I was expecting a denial, so that was nice. I don't know if I'll ride it out, but I'm going to submit supplementals anyway.

1/24
Gonzaga status changed to Decision Made. I'm hoping for good news in the mail in a few days!

1/26
Utah status changed to Under Review (date changed to 1/26/11). My status had been stuck at 1/11/11. Hopefully I'll be hearing soon!

Still waiting for the USPS to cross the country with my Gonzaga decision.

Still waiting on L&C and Denver--hopefully that means they're thinking about it...

1/27
Rejected from L&C via email. Funny, same exact message that I got last year only this time they saved themselves the stamp.

In at Gonzaga with a $7,000 scholarship contingent upon a 2.75. Very excited!

2/2
STILL waiting on Denver. Maybe they threw my app into the 'don't know' pile.

Hoping for a phone call from Utah. Wouldn't that be nice.

2/3
Rejected at Denver via email.

U of Arizona Decision Rendered (dated 2/2/11 on tracker). Will have to wait on the mail.

2/12
Visited W&L, sat in on a class, and spoke to The Admissions Dean. That helped keep me on the waitlist, but I think the student body might be a little too interested in parties for my taste. Also, the undergrad school is beautiful..the law school was built in '72 and looks like a bomb shelter.

2/14
Finally got my rejection letter from AZ. Only took 12 days to cross the country. Oh well, I didn't really see myself that far south anyway.

3/7
Rejection letter from Utah via usps. Now only two schools left. Come on Oregon/Montana...what's the hold up!

3/11
Email from Montana. They are holding my app until "round two" which should be complete by April 15. Pretty sure I'm crossing Montana off the list at this point.

3/18
Sending in the seat deposit for Gonzaga today or tomorrow. The alumni are awesome and my contact network is already expanding rapidly. Now it's time to get moving!

4/26
It was tough sending in the Montana withdrawal form, but time to get on with it. Taking a road trip in June just in time to start the summer session at Gonzaga. See everyone there!

Hi, I sent you an informative email about Gonzaga. We have applied to many of the same schools. Good Luck!

Richmond

Just wondering why you didn't apply to Richmond. Going by how it appears on paper, its one of my top choices and I've been quite impressed by the staff I've dealt with thus far, BUT I haven't visited. Have I been suckered by their packaging?? Do they have a weak local reputation?

Actually, Dean Rahman is a family friend, and I currently live in Richmond. I think U of R is great, they have a beautiful school and a strong reputation in the area. My reasoning for not applying is purely geographic. To attend law school, our family will have to downsize considerably. That will be much easier if we aren't living in the same town (but in a smaller house). It sounds strange, but you'll have to trust me on this one.

I hope the first two weeks of January are busy...in a a good way. I reflected on your q. on my profile page. Good Luck (can't ever have enough, right?). Which schools are you more interested in?

Thanks.

Yeah. I am a little bummed. I would rather go to Gonzaga or L&C anywho.

Congrats

You've gotta be happy about not being rejected at Colorado or W&L.

Thanks

It was surprising that I got WL at both schools to say the least. Hopefully this portents good news at some of the lower ranked schools! Keeping my fingers crossed for Utah and Gonzaga!

Sunday, December 12 2010 at 07:00 PM

Wow,.. HOW did you get WL at Colorado? Was it your job and PS basically? I have similar numbers and I'm going for it, but don't expect even a WL.

Pretty sure admissions flipped a coin for the decision. Not knowing what other people have for softs it's hard to say whether mine are strong, but I threw everything I could think of into my apps...addenda(s), really big resume, stapled $20 bills to each page, wrote entire PS in one long sentence, etc.

Good luck on Gonzaga! I am in review now. (did you see the thread I started on TLS. I think it is pissing some people off. hehe.)

YAY!
Monday, November 29 2010 at 07:00 PM

Congrats!! I am soo happy for you. Really cool. Hopefully I get some good news from them in the next couple of weeks also.

W&L

Hey, I am also on the waitlist at W&L and will be visiting the school this week. I actually am pretty excited about W&L.... anything else that you didnt like about it? anything else that was good? any strange interview questions i should prep for! any info would be really great! :)Looks like you have had as weird a cycle as I have had... but you already have some good options! Congrats.

Thanks!!

Thanks so much for the info! Just one more thing, did you request an interview with Brett Twitty?

Gonzaga
Friday, July 30 2010 at 08:00 PM

Ya, it really blows. I think I've narrowed down my options to Idaho or retake (barring a miraculous acceptance at Utah). Good luck at Gonzaga, or wherever it is you end up! I would have liked to have been part of the same incoming class as you, stheskier, and everyone else who seems cool that looks to be ending up there. Guess it wasn't meant to be. Life goes on.

Big win for the bulldogs last night, I must admit i had st johns in all of my brackets! I guess thats what I get. On another note, are you attending gonzagas open house on the 2nd? A buddy of mine and I are road tripping up from nevada to check out the phd program he got into at WSU, and then going to open house on saturday at Gonzaga, My boss did not go there but only says great things about it! He is urging me to go to zaga over several other schools at this point! Hope to see you there!

Barring an acceptance from UNLV, I will be joining you at zaga as of this friday when the seat deposits go down

Probably in the Fall. I have work committments here, and I am working on a second graduate degree in justice mangement through the judicial college. Besides, lake tahoe in the summer... is amazing!

Montana
Tuesday, February 22 2011 at 07:00 PM

So, I assume that you will be withdrawing from Montana? I only ask because I'm a waitlisted out-of-stater and there are only like 25 spots available. Thanks and Congrats!
