Additional info & updates

Attending W&M in the Fall. I think my early application (sent it in on the first day available) really helped to push me beyond the infamous waiting list.

Took W&M over Emory mostly for personal reasons, but I will say that Emory's courting attempts were exceptionally late in the season. Guess I just wasn't too high of a priority for them. Oh well.

fee waivers

do you have to apply for those fee waivers? if so, do you need to claim financial hardship or can anyone with the right numbers get them?

Washington and Lee don't have a fee application at all at the moment, so that was automatic. Notre Dame sent me an email not too long ago saying that my fee was to be waived. Merit based waivers are generally automatic and you'll be contacted by the schools once LSAC gets your numbers. You have to apply for need based waivers.

Good luck on your cycle! How come you didn't throw University of Alabama on there?

Thanks for the luck! Alabama didn't make my list because, while it is an awesome school that I could be competitive at, I've been living in SC my whole life and I'm wanting to live in a place that at least has seasons. Which requires moving north, not further south. Of course, Emory is an exception to this desire, but it's really more of a lateral move and, honestly, Emory is awesome. I would be able to weather the weather for Emory. :)

Hey man looks like we have pretty similar schools and numbers. Good luck with what is to come.

Notre Dame

Actually, I didn't do any "Why X" essays. I didn't do an EA at Notre Dame, either. And I won't be pursuing the waitlist at ND as well, since I'm going to be living on the west coast next year irrespective of any law school acceptances or denials (Georgetown being the only acception). No need to muddy up competition with my own bid if I'm not actually going to go to ND if I'm eventually accepted. I did drop the ND admissions office a thank you email for considering me, though. I figured it was worth letting them know that them having extended a fee waiver was appreciated.
