Extra Curricular Information

Nothing TOO spectacular, but worked Soph & Jun year 15-20 hours. Chi Omega. Some community service. Blonde, blue-eyed. Research assistant for visually impaired PhD student. Grew up in a bilingual home. I also enjoy long walks along the beach, hence my application to the plethora of Cali schools.

Additional info & updates

Note: Scholarship amounts are per year, renewable dependent on grades or ranking within class.

U of Denver: email first, then big envelope. email telling me of my scholarship about 3 weeks after my acceptance. Email offering me $17,500 a year. Letter came a week later saying $17,600. Did they bump it up $100? Comical.

U of Pacific-McGeorge: big envelope, letter telling me I am regarded as Honors Legal Scholar, so I will have 1L books paid for, first choice at graduate housing, and expenses paid to visit the school. Pretty cool. Then within a week I received another letter awarding me $15K a year.

Chapman: big envelope, letter offering me 80% merit scholarship, damn.

USF: just checked my email while in class: USF Admission, "accepted." They made the decision quickly! :) Received large manila envelope a few days later. No scholarship money...yet.

SW: Big white envelope, accepted & selected to receive Paul W. Wildman Scholarship for $10,500 a year.

SC: Big but thin white envelope. Accepted. Whoohooo!

UC Davis: online status changed to "decision has been mailed, click to view decision letter" to which I found that "With regret I must inform you that we are unable to offer you admission..." oh well, not in God's plans for me! guess i won't be going cow-tipping anytime soon.

Pepperdine (AKA: Waves): small standard white envelope, thick. Accepted! They must have really liked me...said it would take 8 weeks to reach a decision but that's certainly NOT the case.

Seattle University: Accepted, offered $4,000k a year. Is that really supposed to make up for the number of overcast days? I think not.

Regretful that I didn't have more higher reach schools...maybe I was just too pessimistic or doubtful. Anyway, things happen for a reason and I'll go where I'm meant to be. Just like how I was scoring 165's all week before I retook the LSAT...ugh...just not meant to be I guess.

LLS: status checker went to Decision Mailed. Waitlisted; a very flattering letter I may add, although it doesn't change the position...it's still a WAITLIST.

USD: waitlisted. don't really care since I dont want to go there anyway. I heard they're extremely rude and apathetic towards their law students. wtf, not the kind of environment i'd like!

Loyola on the other hand I will wait for. Come on waitlist! :)

ASU: accepted by email, says I should expect a letter in the mail soon. standard white size envelope, thick. acceptance letter had a handwritten note telling me that "i'm just the applicant they're looking for..." and referenced my personal statement. WOW, nice touch ASU! ;) I bet you do that for everyone.

Now the decision is tough. Sent my first seat deposit to Pepperdine, but ASU's tuition (instate) is basically half of what Pepperdine's tuition is. And it's "ranked" higher, but both are regional schools. Ooooh...tough decision!!!

UA: wl, but i don't care. i wouldn't have gone anyway, 4 years undergrad here was MORE THAN ENOUGH in Tucson...yuck. ready to get out of ghetto-ville and into a better place like PHX or Malibu. whoop whoop!

Hey it's a good chance that we do. I'm paranoid about telling you my name on this site though because I have heard some admissions people check it!

Seriously... what's their problem taking this long? I bet it would've been nice to get a response before sendiing out deposits if you're seriously considering ASU. I wish they would hurry up and give me a response! Anyway, congratulations.

I paid my deposit for UofA yesterday, but I'm still waiting to hear from other schools. I'll definately hold out on all of my waitlists. But, like you said it'll be hard to pass up in-state tuition.

me too

Im diong the same thing. put in a first deposit at pepperdine but if loyola comes through, might have to change it. pepperdines latest jump in polls made me feel better, though with those things you never know if they will stick or not

What part of Scottsdale are you from? I don't know if you still live in the valley...but its changed quite a bit in the past few years! I hope I get to see you at ASU. But good luck making your decision-- you have two great options ahead of you.

Good luck!
