I'm interested in sports and entertainment law..any advice?

Visit to MSU:
Overall I was very impressed by the campus and the law school in general. It seems very laid back and everyone was very friendly. Attended a Civ Pro class where the Prof. only showed a movie. Since this was not what I came for I also attended a Property class. Good mix of students but most seemed fairly young. Took a tour with a 3L who was very helpful and claimed the administration is doing everything they can to better the rankings. Will most likely attend unless I get a better offer from my remaining schools. Let me know if you have any questions.

MSU it is!

hey, yaa i was thinkin about marquette.. however, with my stats i did not think i would get in!!! and also, i did not really want to live in or practice in wisconsin.. lol i figured id apply to cities i would enjoy living in and all that... but, i am retaking in feb.. so if i feel after the test that i went up (bc i knew my last test was shit bc i effed up a section, but i did not want to cancel bc i wanted to know my score.. i actually thought it was going to be like 145 or something worse.. lol) so basically, if i feel i raised it to 154+, then i will apply to a few more schools!

congrats! i think its a new law school and from what some people speculate, state universities generally have good ranking law schools...so its expected to rise in rankings.

Good luck with your cycle, we have close numbers and looking at some of the same schools. What's your number one? What are you wanting to do in the S&E area?

That's is definitely one of the jobs I would like to have also. I'm torn right now between front office work for a pro team or being an agent. But I figure I have 3 years to figure it out. ASU is definitely at the top of my list too. Let me know how it goes, and your law school destination.

Thanks

Thanks...it is so exciting to get the first acceptance [no matter where it is to] because it means you will be going SOMEWHERE at the very least! :) Good luck to you too. You hoping for Cali due to the Entertainment Law interest? Loyola, Pepperdine, & Southwestern all have good legal programs for that.

Sorry to see what happened with ASU. Looks like their cut-off this year was 154. BOO.

Sorry for ASU, but you are not alone. I join the team of 154 cut offs. It is a pity, I considered ASU as a safe school. Well. Such a luck.

Great school! The fact that it is affiliated with a big ten school should soon propel it into the top 50. Other than Penn State, which also has a newly affiliated law school, all other big ten schools are top tier. Definitely a good investment in my opinion.

I am already an MSU student so I thought I would attend the open house. They were very pushy with their courtroom technology. The tour took so long, I felt hounded and I didn't get to talk to the people that I wanted. I still might show up to the accepted students open house. Overall the first one was not very informative.

So it looks like you took a liking to MSU there....that's good to have a solid choice barring any other offers, congrats. Now you just have to pass all of your classes...haha.

Hey! Yep I went to undergrad in Tucson and I have been living in Michigan for a year now working for the AmeriCorps. I had to make a really hard decision because I was really impressed by MSU, but since I am interested in Healthcare Law, I couldn't turn down SLU. You will love East Lansing though. Best of luck!
