Additional info & updates

Sharply increasing grade trend. Ended my freshman year at just above a 2.0 and have turned things around quite a bit. President's honor roll two semesters in a row (and counting!)

12/15/10
Finished most of my apps. I'm going to apply to Iowa later tonight, then I think I'll be done for the year. I think I have a good mix of schools that I've applied to so far. My letters of recommendation won't be finished until next week at the earliest, so until then none of my applications will be completed...stay tuned.

12/16/10
OK finished my Iowa app and now am done done DONE. Now I'm basically twiddling my thumbs waiting for my recommenders to send in their letters... speaking of which, a word of advice for everyone applying for the 2011-2012 cycle: START ON YOUR LETTERS OF REC AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE!! I thought giving myself a month would be enough, but honestly give yourself several. It will grind your entire application process to a halt, like it has to mine, which takes up crucial time, which in turn hurts your chances in the rolling admissions process....update in a couple weeks when (hopefully) my apps are "completed".

12/25/10
Evidently I'm accepted to Miami Law!!!!! Ahhh I'm excited, I'M GOING TO LAW SCHOOL! Not to mention this was one of my favorite schools I was looking at! Wow, Merry Christmas to me!

1/19/11
Finally got my first letter of rec processed by LSAC, and it's a very strong one. Unfortunately 2/3 of my schools need 2 letters of rec, and one of them is being re-sent to LSAC. They really make it complicated for recommenders to send in letters...heck, I even made a mistake on one. Hopefully this second letter gets processed soon so I can get on with the "waiting" part of the admissions process.

1/21/11
Second letter got processed yesterday, will be updating "completion" status as it becomes available.

1/26/11
Waitlisted at Temple via status check...kind of surprising, given my numbers I thought I had a pretty good shot at acceptance. Moving on...

1/31/11
Sent in updated transcripts of my grade from last semester which finally got processed by LSAC, bumped my GPA up to a 3.23, I also emailed all of the admissions departments requesting that they include this new GPA...not sure if that was necessary but I'm playing it safe. Also got an odd email from L&C telling me that they won't make a decision on me until May.....

2/12/11
Last second addition of U of Houston. Last school I will apply to. Promise.

2/15/11
Heard back from Nebraska today via phone call. Accepted! With an $8k/year scholarship renewable for three years.

2/18/11
Rejected by Illinois via email and accepted at Penn State via email, neither of which were a surprise. Excited about the acceptance to Penn State! Withdrew my apps to Temple and Tulane.

3/7/11
Rejected by Wisconsin this morning via email. On to the next one!

3/9/11
Accepted this morning at Seattle U and Seton Hall via status check! Decision made at Maryland on status check...should be receiving a letter about it.

3/11/11
Got a big packet from Seattle U today, got a 12,000 scholarship which is renewable each year if I am in the top 25% of the class each year.

UW also updated my status to "Decision"...waiting for letter.

3/18/11
"Preferred Waitlist" at Maryland. According to the letter, most of the people on this list are accepted eventually, so I think I'm going to stick around on it.

3/19/11
Rejected at Utah, small envelope. Rejected at UW, small envelope, looks like I will always hate the Huskies! Presidential Scholarship at Seton Hall, $25k/year renewable if I'm in the top half of my class, they just suddenly went near the top of my list.

4/5/11
Withdrew from Nebraska, Penn State, and Miami today. Should hear back from Ohio St. within the week, Iowa within two.

Waitlisted at L&C today too and have withdrawn.

4/8/11
Waitlisted at Houston.

4/18/11
Rejected at Iowa, really bummed because I thought I'd be able to make the waitlist. Oh well. Waiting for my rejection to Ohio State. Withdrawn from Seton Hall.

4/25/11
Rejected at Indiana...no surprise there. And the award for slowest response goes to.... Ohio State, who are on their 13th week and counting. They're still my number one choice, so I'm very eager to hear what they have to say. Debating whether or not to stay on the U of Houston and Maryland waitlists....

4/26/11
Rejected at OSU, (finally) finishing my cycle. Seattle U in August!!!

I found out about IOWA via e-mail. But my status checker still lists me as "in progress." Good luck with the rest of your cycle!
