Additional info & updates

2/8/11 - Sent in my applications last week. I really hope I'm not too late in the cycle...

2/18/11 - heard from L&C: reviewed app, but have not made a decision. So I could be waiting till late May or early April. Very happy to still be in the running.

3/24/11- McGeorge Status Checker date updated to 3/23/11. Decision soon...?

3/25/11 - Admitted at Willamette with a $12K scholarship! So those of you who are familiar with Willamette know that their decisions are by mail only; well I just got an email today from an alumni congratulating me on my admission. Was excited yet skeptical because I was expecting a letter. So I called the admissions office and was told that the letter was mailed on the 3/16, and that I was indeed in along with a $12k scholarship. I'll have to wait for the letter to get the $$$ details. So excited!

3/30/11 - I found out what happened to my letter from willamette - mailman put it in my neighbor's mailbox... woops! $12k scholarship is annual and is renewable as long as cumulative gpa remains at or above 2.90.

4/14/11 - Paid my first seat deposit at Willamette today (due date is 4/15). Although I'm waiting to make my final decision after I've heard back from L&C, Oregon, and McGeorge I don't want to lose my seat and scholarship that I have in hand.

4/22/11 - "Decision Rendered" via status checker at McGeorge. I guess I'll find out soon...
Rejected at U of Oregon via regular mail.

4/25/11 - Admitted to Lewis & Clark P/T via email!!! So so so freaking excited!
Withdrew my seat at Willamette and will also withdraw my application from McGeorge because I am will attend Lewis and Clark (my top choice)!
It's been a crazy ride but it was all worth it. Best of luck to all of you out there still on the waitlist to your top choice.

5/2/11 - Packet in mail today from McGeorge; accepted with $5,000 Barrister's scholarship (top 1/3 of class and renewable) Hand-written note from Dean of Admissions Adam Barrett made a reference to my personal statement. This was quite a nice touch, but I've already decided to attend Lewis and Clark. Will withdraw tomorrow.

Yeah, that is pretty funny about our LSAT scores being identical (retake and all). Good luck with your cycle; I don't think you're too late at all. I think it is a very good sign that L&C has you on hold. They flat out rejected my app, no waitlist which I was surprised. So, the fact that you are on pause is a good sign! They may be waiting to see who is accepting schollys and sending in seat deposits, so I think your timing may work out well. Good Luck!!

Thanks

I'll definitely look into the blueprint movie should I decide to retake!

Hey there- I'm actually from Juneau, how about yourself? Didn't expect there to be many folks on here from Alaska on here either. Good luck with your apps.

Hey I lived in Fairbanks for about 5 years, and did my associates at UAF. To this day I still love my time up there and have many friends I still keep in touch with. Good luck with your cycle and all.

Willamette

I filled out the supplemental part for Oregon, which might have been a factor in their decision and $. I didn't do the same for Willamette, guess they either felt i was not dedicated enough or they really are having a super competitive cycle and my stats plus a late application culminated in my being placed on the waitlist.

Yup, besides I didn't want to go there anyways, I think I would've gotten sick every time I looked at the logo on my diploma :)

Ya, I am pumped! Seems like an awesome school and awesome city. I tried to join the Facebook page but the admin has not added me yet. What kind of law are you interested in? I want to do criminal law (Prosecutor or public defender). Find me on the facebook page if they ever add me! See my e-mail for my name.

Hey, thanks for the student loan repayment info !! Unfortunately, the largest loan most of us will get is the Grad Plus. PLUS loans have no repayment grace period (besides in school deferment), and no income based repayment cap is available. Oh well, I've had enough of my dead end job and I'm ready to rack up some more debt, muhahhaha. Planning on getting a new CC now before my credit gets slammed. Best of luck with all of your financial planning and thanks for the reminder :)
