Additional info & updates

04.12.08- My cycle is pretty much over!! Got the reject letter from Wisconsin. Not too sad because I knew that wasn't going to happen. Decided on WM, even though it was hard b/c it moved down in the rankings. Yet, it still has a fabulous rep in the Twin Cities, which is where I would like to end up. Good luck to everyone on the rest of your cycles!!!

03.22.08- Waitlisted at Marquette via small snail mail. No disappointment because I never would have gone there over a couple of other schools I've gotten into. Just happy to be narrowing things down! Cycle is almost over!

03.19.08- Dinged at Iowa via status checker- knew that one was coming! Still sad though. On the bright side, I withdrew from a couple schools yesterday, and it felt GOOD!

03.16.08- Dear God! Back from spring break and all I have is a mailbox full of crap from schools I've been admitted to. I thought for SURE I'd hear something by now... C'mon Wisconsin and Iowa, just break the bad news already so I can move on (though take your sweet time if I'll be admitted!)

03.07.08- Received notice of waitlist from Kansas- withdrawing when I get back from Spring Break. At least being in Mexico for a week will pull me away from my mailbox (though not my e-mail, thank god for BlackBerrys).

02.27.08- Dinged from U of M- duh! Figured it out by the status checker ("Decision Letter Sent") plus lack of phone call. Sucks, but I was expecting it.

02.25.08- E-mail from St. Thomas this morning with info on how to log on to their Admitted Student web page. Called to confirm; I'm in. Official letter should come in a day or two... wonder if I'll get any money? So far I've heard from 5/11 schools I've applied to; I'm happy with where I'm at so far, but I just want to know!

02.15.08- Received snail mail packet from John Marshall- in but no scholarship.

02.14.08- Happy Valentine's Day! Call from Hamline- in with 60% scholarship over 3 years if I keep a GPA of 2.9 or higher... nice.

02.07.08- Received thin snail mail envelope from DePaul- Rejection. That's alright, I can't afford to go to school in Chi anyways.

01.14.08- First acceptance- I'm officially going to law school! Heard from WM (via large snail mail packet) after one week of applying; must be a record as I'm about 4 states away. Scholarship offer of 45% tuition over 3 years if I remain in the top half of my class... exciting.

Good luck, kind-of-number-twin.

Good luck!

Thanks for the message. I wouldn't count yourself out at Iowa just yet, as I was pleasantly surprised. I am thinking University of Illinois, but things could change. Is Iowa your #1?

Wisconsin

Yea, I'm finishing up here at U of I for Undergrad and love it, and the prospect of being here for 3 more years is intriguing. I LOVE Wisconsin as well. I have many friends there who rave about it.

Congrats

on Hamline! I read on another profile that Wisconsin is a top choice for you too - I hope we both hear good news!

Congrats!

On John Marshall! A Boilermaker...oh no. I hope this weekend brings you some good news.

My top choice is Marquette, then AZ State. By top choice I mean "I'll give up a toe to get in." Have you heard anything back from Marquette yet?

I'm with you...

on the Wisconsin "please hurry up unless you plan on accepting me" feeling... I just want to get the bad news out of the way, although I can certainly cool my heels for a bit if they would like to say yes! Here's hoping we both hear good news soon! How was Mexico? Fun, I hope!

Denver v. Boulder
Monday, January 14 2008 at 07:00 PM

Since you are not logged in, I will apply to your question on my own wall. I don't want to go to Boulder because... 1. I have a cousin who attends undergrad there who I don't have warm feelings about (which is the understatement of the year). 2. I really wanted to be at a school with family/friends around, and I have close family IN Denver. But, I am from Minnesota, so I would love to go back home. 3. I don't have the numbers (really, the LSAT score) for Boulder... and I know I don't for Iowa and Wisconsin but those are schools that I wouldn't care about knowing family/friends because I would LOVE to go there. (Also, they're very central around my family in MN and college friends in Chicago.) But yes, Boulder has a great law school.

Iowa

Sorry about that - they just don't know what they are missing! Here's to Wisco saying yes.

St. Thomas vs WM
Thursday, December 27 2007 at 07:00 PM

I am planning on doing a JD/MBA and also St. Thomas is backed by a full university, not just a law school only, and was ranked T3 its first year being ranked (it only opened in 2000) which is unusual and a sign that it is a rising star.

you have the wrong st. thomas in your profile, you have the FL st. thomas not the MN st. thomas

Just to give you a heads up since you told me you were considering WM. It dropped from Tier 3 to Tier 4 this year, while Hamline went from Tier 4 to Tier 3.

Congrats...

on choosing WM! What a relief to have this whole process done with and behind you. Good luck next year!
