Additional info & updates

I guess you can see that I'm attending Indy. Here's how they came in:

First: 2 letters with equal scholarships. One from Charlotte school of law, one from Indy-Bloomington.

A week later: WL'd at Ohio and Illinois. Both from status checker, Ohio sent snail mail like a week later to ask me to sign up for the WL (I didn't) and Illinois asked me to sign up for the WL by email (I did).

About two weeks later: WL'd at Emory (not signing up) by snail mail. Rejected/deferred at Minnesota by snail mail. Rejected from Northwestern via really shitty status checker (email went out on a Friday of the decision, linked to a non functioning page that wasn't fixed until Monday. Thanks!)

A week after that: Email from Lewis and Clark. They said their class is full, but want me on the WL (no thanks). Email from Wisconsin about WL/deferral. Strongly want a LOCI. Don't want to write one, or sign up for their WL.

Decision was made after visiting Bloomington (great place), their scholarship (very nice), and meeting a bunch of their law students. Wasn't motivated to wait out summer on a bunch of waitlists either (the moral of the story being APPLY EARLY!). I realized it would take a comparable school to give me more than Indy to even be considered, because I really like the school.

Oh, decision at Michigan. Not expecting to get in, and can't log into the admitted students site. Will wait for snail mail rejection.

So, the cycle is basically over, it turned out a lot different than I had imagined, and I'm going to a school I never considered before getting a fee waiver. Still, happy with my decision.

May 2nd: Just got DePaul. Sounds like I might have gone onto a 2nd hold, but never got the mail. Nice scholarship, but really way too late for me to really consider. With an extra $5,000 Indy is giving me for the summer, it will probably still be cheaper to go to Maurer than DePaul, just because of living expenses. Oh well.

Similar Numbers

We have similar numbers, applied to some of the same schools late in the cycle, and both got offers to Indiana. Barring a surprise acceptance to Michigan, I'll be at I.U. in the Fall. Maybe I'll see you there. Good luck on the rest of your apps.

Don't think I can make it, but I'm going to try to schedule a visit in early April to see the school and figure out housing. August housing dries up quickly in Bloomington.

April 1

April 1st is a problem, as only a handful of my schools have responded. I may ask for a small extension, but I will most likely just accept the IU offer if schools haven't gotten back to me by then. I want to study Con. law and IU is fine for that. Good luck on all the rest of your apps. I bet UIUC gets back to you by then at least.

From what I hear Indiana and Illi are both great schools. Forgetting my obvious bias, because I will probably be at Indiana, I think you should go with the school that is obviously trying to recruit you over the school that is only ranked marginally better. I imagine that Indiana will continue to support you throughout your 3 years. Of course you have to consider the program that best suits you, but that's just my two cents.

i will be at the asd on saturday and im pretty excited for it. ive never been to IU-B and their offer is def worth a visit. i think brooklyn is my first choice now bc of the location and $$$, but im still waiting on 4 solid reaches that i would love to go to (BU, Fordham, Emory, USC). when do you get in for the asd? i fly in friday around 8...not sure if im going to go out that friday, but i wouldnt mind it hah

Congrats

Congrats on picking IU. Seems like they really treat their students well, so we should hopefully be in for a good three years. I'm doing summer start; I see you mentioned an interest in it too. Maybe I'll see you there.

No ASD for me

Didn't make it to the ASD; as it turned out Wake accepted me and I booked myself for their ASD the same weekend before IU ever accepted me. Visited IU a couple of weeks ago, committed and got an apartment, and canceled my trip to Wake (who I couldn't get to give me any money). My e-mail address gives my first name away, so that's who I am. See you in torts class.

Hey - congrats on Indiana... good luck there! I liked their personal touches, but in-state was good for me :-)
