Additional info & updates

Retaking the LSAT in December; 165 isn't bad, but was well below my practice test average.

Wrote a GPA addendum, mostly just to show contrition for my lack of effort in undergrad. No great excuses to speak of, I just hoped to persuade them to believe that five years past graduation the bad student in me is dead (which I'm confident really is the case).

12/29: The retake resulted in a lower score of 163. So, I guess I'm a 165 in the eyes of some schools, and a 164 in the eyes of some others. That isn't going to cut it with some of these I know, but...we'll just have to see what happens.

1/6: Status checker on Denver has shifted to "Decision Processed." I e-mailed them to see when I could expect a decision, and they said it should be mailed within a week. Would sure be nice to get that first acceptance under my belt.

1/12: Well then. Dinged by Denver, waitlisted by Cincinnati. Would've liked a better start to the cycle, but it is what it is. Hopefully I'll see an acceptance soon enough.

1/14: Pacific added an online status-checker, which indicates they've mailed a decision to me as of yesterday. The waiting is torturous, but at least I'm getting one more decision this week (hopefully more than that). I should have a good chance at this one, but we'll see.

1/17: ...solid line drive into left field for a base hit, and the no-hitter ends early. In at University of Pacific, $5K a year scholarship contingent on keeping my grades in the top 1/3 of the class. Very happy to get my first acceptance.

1/20: Wow. In at Wake Forest! Thought that was quite a reach with my GPA. Very happy to get that acceptance.

1/25: That rejection from Denver sure feels like a while ago. In at IU-Bloomington via e-mail. Formal admission letter and scholarship offer coming in the regular mail, so hopefully I'll have something to put in the money section in a few days.

1/26: Got the big admission package from IU-B in the mail today, with a scholarship offer of $10K a year contingent on maintaining a 3.2 GPA or better.

1/28: Admitted at Chapman via status-checker. My decision letter has been mailed. Nice compliment from a good school, though I really doubt I'm going there at this point.

2/3: Idaho sends me an e-mail saying that they want to "once again" congratulate me on my admission to their school. I wasn't actually aware that I had been accepted in the first place, but...there it is. Idaho isn't going to be my destination, that's pretty much certain...but just out of curiosity, I'll wait to see what scholarship offer comes my way in the mail before withdrawing.

2/6: Got waitlisted by Illinois. They remain in the running for me, but I doubt I'll get accepted off that waitlist. I think the delay caused by taking that unsuccessful LSAT retake cost me.

Also got the physical acceptance mail from Idaho. No mention of scholarship. I'll wait a while before withdrawing, but...

2/7: Finally got that physical mailing from Chapman. They only offered me a 20% tuition scholarship...not nearly enough, in light of my other acceptances. I officially withdrew from consideration there.

2/17: Rejected at Notre Dame. No surprise at all. It's looking more and more like Indiana. I'm visiting in a few weeks, and they can get me to commit if I like it as much as I hope to.

3/12: Officially committed to Indiana-Bloomington. Not only did the cheaper price tag sway me in their direction, but they won me over with their recruiting efforts also. Great school and great people here.

As the pending applications are obviously meaningless now, I put the W's up next to them...I'm going to wait on decisions before officially withdrawing, just out of curiosity, and will post those decisions when I get them.

dude, great job on getting a 165. I thought Oct LSAT was killer compared to other PTs. Looking at your school list, your current LSAT score is probably already sufficient for an acceptance. Or are you still bouncing around with other schools if you can break the 170-mark?

The october LSAT was nasty. I dropped 8-10 points from my practice scores. Do you think it's worth it to retake the test? Probably to late for me to do so, but hopefully it works out for you.

Good luck man...

We're in the same boat (166, 2.47 for me). Hope the adcoms like our personal statments. Good luck.

fees section

did a fees section appear on your UDenver status checker site?

hopeful...

I figured that the fees section had nothing to do with actual admissions...but I was hopeful that it did. Oh well. Thanks for the prompt response and good luck on your cycle!

On your Denver status checker, did it say something about sending out a Career Development Center email?

Thanks.

Good luck to you too. With a 165 you'll get in somewhere, for sure.

Thanks! Bloomington is beautiful, and you have access to some of the big city amenities in Indy just 45 minutes away. I hope you enjoy the state. Go Hoosiers!

Stupid Question

How do I withdraw? I thought I just let the due date expire.

See you in the summer
Sunday, February 15 2009 at 07:00 PM

Congrats on IU. Were you there for ASD this weekend? The teacher who does Torts (the summer class) had a mock class. Great little town. I'm excited. I guess I might bump into you in 3 months. I also heard the class tops out at 70, but only about 10 had signed up for it as of Saturday.

Congrads on Indiana!
