Extra Curricular Information

Nothing special:

-Consistent volunteer work throughout college
-MSW
-LBGT (eh.)
-A wolverine and a spartan, for people who care about such things.

T-shirts:
Rutgers: 1 short sleeved, 1 long sleeved AND a hat
DePaul: 1 short sleeved
Hofstra: 1 short sleeved
Tulane: Tote bag (awesome!)

Cycle conclusion:

Iowa is amazing, but basically the same at Ann Arbor (abet without the snobbishness). Hartford is a mixture of urban and suburban, and I would rather practice on the East Coast. Money was also an issue, and UCONN is surprisingly generous with need-based grants (20K first year, renewable to 10K 2&3L). And rankings aren't everything, right?

So, I will be adding a Husky bumper-sticker to the car, to join Sparty and the wolverine. UCONN 2012!

Additional info & updates

December LSAT. Therefore, January Apps. Hopefully.

1/22: Rutgers got my check, so finally requested my LSAC report. UCONN is waiting for my undergrad to send the Dean's Form. Maryland is ignoring me, for reasons unknown, as is Case Western.

1/28: Email acceptance for Rutgers-Camden! With a Dean's Scholarship, 7500$ for maintaining a 3.5 (falls to a 4000$ with a 3.3). Scholarship seems hard to maintain, but with instate tuition its still inexpensive. Yay!

SLU status checker says decision will be sent. And Hofstra status checker is now blank. Still no word from Maryland or Case.

2/3: Two in the mail, big envelopes - Depaul, with 18,000$/year with a 3.3, and St. Louis which says scholarship offers are forthcoming. Plus a Rutgers T-shirt!

Out at UGA via status checker. To be expected, but the first (of a probable many) rejections stings. To the bar...

2/6: Deferred at IU-B. Ugh. Went into review at Illi, so waiting for the rejection with baited breath:) On the upside, Rutgers sent me another shirt and a hat, which made me very happy.

2/7: In at Hofstra with 30K/year for a 3.2:) As someone going in for PI law, the lack of debt is really appealing. Plus a handwritten note, a nice touch. Although, long island?

2/11: Denied by Illi status checker. Oy.

2/23: Three letters today; two waitlists American and Maryland.

In at UCONN! Now that is exciting. No money, but instate tuition after the first year. Now to find out if they have an LRAP....

2/28: Decided not to pursue waitlists at American and Maryland.

Right now its all about UCONN, even though no LRAP:(

Wisconsin and Iowa might as well be waitlist/deferred. Bleck.

3/6: In at Penn State (cute, they noted my father's alumni status) and at Newark. No money (late apps I assume).

The cycle is ending soon, so get back to me Iowa and Wisconsin! Christ.

3/9: In at Tulane by email. Heard you get a tote bag...excitement. Got Penn State admission packet; no funds until the end of April.

3/10: Email admit to Iowa (big grin and excitement!). No money (well, expecting no money, admit packet soon) but wow! Unexpected.

3/11: 20,000$ a year at Tulane! Half tuition isn't too bad, although really wasn't looking at the South.

3/30: ASD at UCONN. Great campus, has both suburban and urban appeal. PLUS, 20K need-based grant. Even though I sent in my deposit to Iowa (damned April 1 date) I think I am going to have to lose the 250$.

Huskies 2012! Wow, what a ride.

Hey, Congrats on all the acceptances, especially on Tulane (which is my No.1 coice)! I feel you on the "unbearable whiteness" thing. That made me laugh.

Dude...

Congrats on Iowa. That's a great school. What school are you leaning towards right now? I'm super conflicted. But, guess I need to make up my mind soon...

Good question...

Um, well it is a very good school, which, despite being not super-highly ranked, has a national reputation. New Orleans is an awesome city, and would be lot of fun. Especially during Mardi Gras. Of course, my life will be all law school, but would be nice to party in The Big Easy now and then. So, yeah that's pretty much my thinking. And, as someone who has lived in the SF Bay Area his entire life, it'd would be a fun change for 3 years.

Congrats on UB LAW
