----------------

Rejected NYU. Thin white envelope.

1/30
Accepted NYLS with partial scholarship.
Thick business-sized envelope.
Have to decide whether to take the money or go to the "better" school.

2/2
Biting nails over Brooklyn. Stupid GPA.
Expecting admission from St. John's & CUNY in the near future.
Expecting a thin rejection letter from Fordham shortly as well.

2/3
Called St. John's. Informed that my application was with the committee and that I could expect word within a week.

2/9
Called CUNY, Brooklyn, W&M.

Brooklyn = a week or two.
CUNY = between now and May!
St. John's = Any day now.
Fordham = who the heck knows

2/10
Thin letter from Fordham: Final decision postponed. "Pending". I'll know by May.

2/14
Received email from St. John's inviting me to an Open House for Admitted Students. Called them, their computers are down, but they tell me if I got the email I must be admitted. My letter must be in the mail right now. Unbelievable!

2/15
Audited a 1L Criminal Law Class at NYLS. Great Prof. (Blecker), quality facilities.

email from Brooklyn congratulating me on acceptance. Sweet!
Official letter and admissions package to come via USPS.

2/16
Talked to admissions office at St. John's (still no letter)
Scholarship offer of 28,500.

St. John's Open House: Mock Class, dinner w/ faculty.

3/10
Word from Brooklyn: $8,500 per year w/ merit scholarship.

3/24
CUNY finally gets around to admitting me. Big, grey envelope. No $ offer.

3/29
W&M finally gets around to rejecting me. Glad I could be one of the people to boost their selectivity numbers. Thin envelope. Clearly a ding.

5/10
Finally, a thin envelope arrives from Fordham. Da-da-ding.

First off, CONGRATS! Quick question- how did you apply to the may part time program and early action? I didn't know you could do both. CONGRATSSSSSSS

I should fix that. I just applied quite early (Nov.). Not with any early decision thing. I'll take that off. Thanks!

Thanks for your kind words. I wish we could combine your LSAT and my GPA :) NYLS $$$ over 'dozo may admission...can you get the same job oppts with the May start? BTW - Why Bklyn as 1 choice over Fordham? Best of luck!

Brooklyn does suck and it def was the LSATS. Have you visited NY Law? Is it nice?

In response
Tuesday, December 06 2005 at 07:00 PM

Yea, brooklyn faculty is kinda rude. They did numerous things that were extreemly unprofessional to me and I know of someone who went there and said the administration/staff were assholes. I know nothing about NY Law so I guess I should go visit. I am so jealous that you heard from Cardozo. I want to hear so badly. CONGRATS again

St. Johns
Tuesday, December 06 2005 at 07:00 PM

What do you think about St. Johns? Do you know a lot?

Public Interest
Thursday, December 29 2005 at 07:00 PM

If $$ is the overriding concern and you are only interested in Public Interest...have you given serious thought to CUNY...they will not cost $ and their whole focus is public interest.

NY Times

In the NY Times yesterday, law school aps are down significantly! That's good news for us.

Hey, You're still in the running for Fordham...good luck! I want Fordham! Yep, I saw the times article...maybe that means some of our waitlists will turn into green lights! Good luck!

St. John's
Thursday, December 29 2005 at 07:00 PM

No Scholarship $$ from St. Jonh's I am very dissapointed...ppl with much lower stats getting big $$...I think you'll get the $$ with your LSAT...good luck!

St. John's
Thursday, December 29 2005 at 07:00 PM

I think they're gonna take you...with $$...good luck!

Congrats!! Best wishes for further success!

St. John's
Thursday, December 29 2005 at 07:00 PM

Told ya! Congratulations. I'm predicting scholarship $$ for you. I think they have a 160 cutoff for $$.

Brooklyn!
Monday, May 30 2005 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on Brooklyn. You're from Brooklyn? Me too! It's my first choice - I hope I get in (I applied part-time).

Brooklyn

CONGRATS on Brooklyn! I am rather jealous!

Brooklyn & St. John's

Congratulations on Brooklyn! Yay! The scholarship trend with St. John's continues - that's a hefty amount!

About Brooklyn...
Thursday, December 29 2005 at 07:00 PM

You state you went complete on 1/30 - did you get a letter in the mail stating you were complete on that date?

SJU $$
Thursday, December 29 2005 at 07:00 PM

Yeah, no need for NYLS. That's why I was bummed about no $$. I wanted SJU to be my safety...but I can't see spending 30K there...arr.. So...now that your 1st choice accpeted you...what are you thinking - take the $$ at SJU or go to BKLYN? Looks like I'm going to have to pay for the whole enchilada...

SJU $$
Thursday, December 29 2005 at 07:00 PM

I'm not holding out hope for $$ from SJU. By the time they offer (if they offer) I might need to already ahve made a decision on may or pt program. SJU backed me into a corner...they really can't be an option unless I don't get accepted into any higher level tier 2. I think their scholarship criteria this cycle has been out of whack. I was going to go to their open house but was too bitter! lol

Sounds Good
Thursday, December 29 2005 at 07:00 PM

I think you have analyzed your position very well. St. Johns is a respected school and with the money they gave you and where your interests lie it would be difficult to justify full tuition at Bklyn or Cardozo.

brooklyn
Thursday, June 09 2005 at 08:00 PM

when did brookly notify you that you were being considered for a merit scholarship?

Cardozo
Sunday, December 11 2005 at 07:00 PM

I expected the Cardozo waitlist. It's depressing. They said I could apply for May consideration..not really sure if I want to begin in May.

CONGRATS
Tuesday, December 06 2005 at 07:00 PM

Where do you think you're gonna wind up?

Congrats
Friday, September 16 2005 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on all of your acceptances. Since St. John's is your #1 choice, I'm assuming that's probably where you plan to go. In the event that you decide not to attend Brooklyn or Cardozo, can you please withdraw your applications asap? Thanks.

St. John's
Sunday, November 06 2005 at 07:00 PM

Hey congrats on St. John's...I didn't know about that option to check online. Maybe that's worthwhile for me to do. Is it something I can find from their main site?? Thanks so much!! and Good Luck

NYU
Tuesday, January 03 2006 at 07:00 PM

Their loss! Good luck w/ your apps, especially Fordham! I love NYC, but I'm not sure where I'll end up.

Still SJU?
Tuesday, January 24 2006 at 07:00 PM

Hi, I got waitlisted at BKLYN :( Are you still planning on SJU for the fall?

cardozo
Tuesday, December 27 2005 at 07:00 PM

So are you leaning toward Dozo now? Did you have to ask that your application be reviewed again or did they switch you automatically?

Brooklyn
Tuesday, December 27 2005 at 07:00 PM

Thanks! Yes, that is definitely what I plan on doing. Some people seem to be able to do it after the first semester, as well.

brooklyn
Tuesday, December 27 2005 at 07:00 PM

Yep, I am indeed!

Brooklyn
Tuesday, December 27 2005 at 07:00 PM

Thanks!! Best of luck with your decision. Are you leaning toward SJU or Dozo at this point?

Brooklyn
Tuesday, December 06 2005 at 07:00 PM

Yep, I can't speak to the quality of the education there, but the admissions office has driven me nuts! So will I be seeing you around Dozo in May?

Friday, September 16 2005 at 08:00 PM

Fordham PT
Tuesday, December 06 2005 at 07:00 PM

I'm really leaning toward Fordham now. Still need to discuss some things with the administration there but I should know for sure by the end of the week.
