Additional info & updates

Well folks, it looks like thats a wrap. Or at least were in the last scenes. I am 90% certain that I will be attending Cleveland-Marshall. North Eastern Ohio is my home and I REALLY want to go back. If I got into BYU that number would go down to 75%, and if I got off the waitlist at George Mason that number would go down to 60%. BUT, neither of those things are likely to happen. And, even if they did I still love C-M for its program, people, and in-state tuition its a good fit for me.

I am sending a waitlist removal letter to Quinnipiac today and am in the process of drafting a kind declination of offer letter to Western New England. All in all, this has been a practice in humility.

Make that 100% that I'll be going to Cleveland-Marshall. I just got a graduate assistantship at Case (even though I didn't get into their law school) so I get free food, free housing (plus phone and internet), PLUS a $800+/month stipend. I can't pass that up, no matter what happens. Good luck to you all in the year ahead.

Acceptance letter from Ave Maria in a large white envelope. They also sent thank you letters to my LOR writers. They gave me 8 days to give them $500. I got a waitlist update letter from G. Mason today. And was called for an interview with BYU (I hear this is a good thing for URMs like me).

Good luck to you. It looks like you applied pretty late in the cycle. Did you just decide to go law school? I also went to BYU, so I want to wish you good luck.

Thanks

I've wanted to be a lawyer all my life. I knew that I would be going to law school for some time. I am late in the game; it took me some time to gather my thoughts in order to show my best self (it's hard to get people to look past my numbers).

Hey Cheez, I also got accepted into cleveland, but I dont know anything about Ohio. I've heard cleveland is an industrial city and someone commented that they dont have many jobs available to law students. I was wondering if you could help me out a little. Thanks

Jobs ain't a problem...

Getting employment with a C-M degree is not a problem. Yes, Cleveland has been a very industrial city. However, I would not say that fact means that there are not jobs for law students. On the contrary, a C-M degree is VERY respected in Cleveland. Even more then a degree from our friends down the street (Case Western). Being a lawyer is getting harder and harder no matter where you are. But take a look at these stats from LSAC.org. Of ALL 203 grads from the last round of stats 95% of the graduating class were employed. Of the 10 people who were not employed only 5 of those were actually looking for employment. That means that 97.5% of the class was happy with their employment situation. Come on say WOW it feels good.WOW! The only caution I would give is if you come to C-M be ready to stay in Ohio because of those 203 grads only 9 left the State for work.

I haven't graduated either! I still need 12 credits this summer, so I don't get done until June 17... and believe me, August 15 will be there too soon. Where are you from?

Thanks

how did your interview with the dean go? Any indication of movement this year? Do you think that you would take BYU over C-M?
