Additional info & updates

I got a 3.9 gpa in grad school which I think has made me a bit lucky (I goofed off as an undergrad). What really puzzles me is getting into Marquette, getting waitlisted at Villanova, and then rejected by Gonzaga. Not a joke - Strange!

02/20/08 - Denver sent an email saying I was accepted.

03/15/08 - Beware the Ides of March? Well - just got a letter from McGeorge - $10,000 + books. So, if any one gets in, I got a scholarship 2 weeks after getting in; so, keep your eyes out for one. It may come a few weeks after.

04/5/08 - Cornell went to decision. Perhaps they will be impressed by my 159/2.76 - NOT! I enjoyed applying there anyway.

04/07/08- rejected at Cornell. Sweet, I don't have to figure out how to come up with the 46 grand a year for tuition. No surprise here. I had a better chance of being struck by lightning, in a cave, on a clear day, than getting in there.

04-10-08 - reject at Yale - not surprising obviously.

04-26-08 - Where the heck is Duquesne? Have they fallen off the earth? Why can't they give me a simple decision; I applied to them in early December! Has anyone else had a problem with them?

I emailed the admissions director at Duquesne and basically chewed them out for taking too long. Probably not the best of ideas but I was pretty ticked - they're a T4 school! It shouldn't take 5 months to give me a decision. So, I got a reject dated the day after my email - end result, I got my decision finally.

Congrats on Marquette as well. I hear they have a pretty nice campus and also have a Sports Law Program which I'm interested in and makes them a tempting place. I would like to know how their placement outside of Wisconsin is as I really dont think I could survive the next 10 yrs or so in Milwaukee as I come from So Cal. What have you heard of them? Either waym I'm very excited about this.

I'd believe that, but I wonder what that will do to their class size? It looks like we've got a few schools in common...I'm curious, what's your graduate degree in? Also (if you don't mind me asking) what type of mission did you serve?

Willamette

I certainly do. My brother is serving in Spanish speaking south D.C. right now actually. As it stands, a lot of my thoughts are with Willamette (primarily because its my only acceptance so far). I visited the campus when I was deicing on undergrad, and was favorably impressed with the campus and atmosphere. Im curious why youll most likely attend there?

I didnt know there was such a strong LDS presence at Willamette, but I can see why that would be appealing to you. I applied to Willamette because I was already familiar with the campus and reputation of the school. Based on the latest BAR passage rates and acceptance statistics (LSAT and % accepted) I think the law school will be back in the 3rd tier in the next year or two. Also, it has one of the best dispute resolution programs in the nation. I completely understand you desire to carefully consider more than just the USNWR ranking. Honestly, I wish more individuals in the legal community from 0Ls up thought that way.

Nope - no money. I got an acceptance, but it did not offer any money. I LOVE this school, but I'm afriad of going 50 grand in debt a year to end up in Sacramento, San Jose, or.......MODESTO, or.............LODI!!!!!!!
