Additional info & updates

Updates:

Rejected at DePaul...

Waitlisted at SIU...

Deferred at NIU...

Accepted at NESL, came in a big white envelope... looks like I am touching base on all possible responses so far.

Placed on "admissions pending" list at Valparaiso. They said if i had applied earlier, I would have been accepted, but all the seats were full. Once something opens up, admissions pending applicants get picked above waitlisted. crap.

05-13-08 update: called Valpo about an email they sent me saying a seat might be open. It was, so was accepted over the phone.

05-21-08 update: Quite suprised. I was waitlisted at NIU on a letter dated may 8. I got my acceptance letter today. This is going to make my choice difficult. I like Valpo's campus alot better but NIU is 1/3 the cost. Hmm...

06-06-08 update: Withdrew from Valpo, Cooley and NESL. I put down my seat deposit for NIU so I will most likely be going there unless I get a suprise acceptance letter from JMLS... but I wont worry about that until it happens, if it does.

Hey, I only applied to 6 schools. I couldn't afford 50. Good luck on this cycle!

I only sent out two. I've estimated I have about a 2-3% chance of being rejected by both. I'll worry about that if it happens. I can always go back to being a code monkey.

I only applied to 3. Sticking to ones I know I'll be accepted to. :-)

if this helps...

i was waitlisted at SIU last year...make sure to keep in touch with them. Their admissions office was really helpful. Their numbers were high last year which resulted in people remaining on the WL-but every year is different! Best of luck to you!

Hey congrats on the NIU acceptance! Are you still holding out for SIU? I wish you luck in everything you do sir, even if you go to NIU.......that just means I am going to have to kick your ass in moot court! haha

NIU vs. Valpo

Hi, I saw you got off of the waitlist at NIU. That\'s great news, and I\'m hoping to get a call or letter saying I\'m in as well. Have you decided where you\'re going? I got into Valpo, but the tuition cost at NIU is so much cheaper, I\'m struggling to decide 100%.

Again, congrats on the NIU. I think its a damn good choice. The debt we will be graduating with will be so low....its almost ridiculous compared to private schools. I don\'t want to diss JMLS, but it always seemed like every time I talked with them I got an unenthusiastic response....maybe my perception though. I think NIU will work out well. And its a a shit load cheaper.

Congrats!

Did you do anything special to get accepted off valpo's waitlist? Did you send more LORs or a LOCI? Thanks for any help
