Extra Curricular Information

Fraternity President
Fraternity Secretary
Omicron Delta Kappa
Phi Alpha Theta History Honorary
Dean's and President's List throughout
Division II Baseball for a couple years, rotator cuff surgery
Worked basically full-time throughout school after Baseball
SGA, Student Alumni, etc.
Good amount of community service
Basically got involved in everything during Undergrad.

Lots of nice soft factors and I'm not sure how the minority thing is gonna go, I hear that Asian-American is not URM but I've heard from a couple admissions people that it will be a factor.

GPA got killed by my first semester in college when I was a pledge (both fraternity and baseball) and I came in with a rousing 2.25. LSAT sucks, bombed RC both times i took it, despite missing zero on the games section both times. I guess that means I can't read, that should come in handy in Law School. That scale is getting kinda rough too huh? Low 160s on practice and 158 average was really disappointing though.

Additional info & updates

I'm adopted and Korean, not sure where that's going to take me (not far I'm afraid...)

I hate applications more than 18 year old sorority girls...and yes I know that Vandy, GWU, W&M and a couple others are complete wastes of time but my uncle was a Vandy grad, insisted that my numbers were ok, and picked up the application fees for me so...why not?

CRS and In-State Application Fee Waivers for:
Loyola Chicago, Illinois, Temple, Santa Clara, Pittsburgh, Tulane, Washington, George Mason , Washington and Lee, and Alabama. Case Western is Free online as well.
(Chose not to apply to Case Western, Santa Claira, Pitt, and Temple...no interest in living/working in the areas.)

1.15.06
All applications now finished and FAFSA has been filled out, this has been a headache and I wish I would have applied sooner. I think by not applying in November or December, I'll get shut out of a couple schools that I may have gotten into otherwise. Taking a look at my schools, I (and anyone else) can pretty much figure out what will happen and am fully prepared for the worst. Alabama is the question mark. It's my in-state school and probably my top choice other than the big names I have listed. I know the chair of the admissions committee, and will probably get some in-state preference. I'd say 50-50 there.
____________
1.26.06
Acceptance letter from Miami today, plain envelope. 1 for 1 =). No financial aid as of yet, but I believe that is sent seperately if awarded. Applied to Miami for a few reasons, pretty good safety school and in a really nice area, and really the only big name school in town.
____________
2.6.06
Acceptance letters from Ole Miss and Samford, both large white envelopes. Just standard acceptance forms and stuff, no scholarship info.
____________
2.9.06
E-Mail acceptance from Alabama. I'm very excited because Alabama is probably my top choice, despite maybe some people saying that Emory, Vandy, etc should be. But it is close to friends and family, football, cost, and so on. I'm still going to keep options open, but I'll probably withdraw from my others I've been accepted to so far.
____________
2.25.06
Got a letter today from Samford awarding me a $20,000 scholarship. Tempting if it was per year, but it is dispersed in 6 intervals so $3,333 a semester...not enough I'm afraid so I'll withdraw, good luck everyone with Samford...great school and great campus.
____________
2.27.06
Waitlisted at Loyola Chicago...will withdraw...Good Luck to everyone there. Also got an acceptance E-Mail from Houston saying a formal letter would be following soon. Alabama is the front runner, but I like the Houston area so we'll see. Really happy and pleasantly surprised at how well the admissions process is going so far, nothing marquee or anything but at least I'll have some choices.
____________
3.3.06
Letter from George Mason saying I am on the wait list. I think I'll probably go ahead and stay on it, and try to send them some more transcripts, etc. I started off so strong and now reality is setting in, haha.
____________
3.4.06
Large white envelope from Georgia State telling me of my acceptance.
____________
3.9.06
Online status check at Georgia...first rejection so far (of many probably)...oh well
____________
3.10.06
Another waitlist letter, this time from American...so much for that streak I was on
____________
3.22.06
Two things, a rejection letter from Emory (expected) and an e-mail informing me that Houston has granted me a $3,000 scholarship (not sure if thats per semester or per year) and out of state tuition waiver.
____________
3.24.06
Acceptance e-mail from Tulane. One of my top schools when I started this whole process....would like to visit New Orleans soon and check the situation out down there.
____________
3.30.06
Just returned home from Spring Break to two rejection letters (W&M and GWU) and my acceptance papers from Tulane. I am deciding between Alabama and Tulane, and really need to visit New Orleans before deciding.
____________
4.3.06
Rejection letter from Washington in STL, and a surprising waitlist letter from Washington and Lee. I'll def. stay on the wait list and see what happens.
____________
4.6.06
Sent in seat deposit for Alabama. Have decided against Tulane due to the incredibly high tuition and still not sold out New Orleans. Am expecting rejections from the rest of my schools so I will be attending the University of Alabama barring a miracle acceptance from Vandy =)
____________
4.10.06
Rejection from Illinois...I got a fee waiver from there so whatever.

Thank you for the congratulations. Tulane is actually my first choice, so I will be attending. Looks like you have some very fine schools on your list. I hope you have a nice selection come decision time!

Keep it up!

Those are some amazing turnarounds on your three acceptances, considering you were relatively late in the cycle. Congratulations! Looks like the only schools we have in common are W&L and UIUC, but I was thinking about WUSTL and Miami. Good luck on the rest of your cycle!

We are twins... Missing zero on Logic Games, and bombing the reading. Same Score. Best of luck.

Yeah they lease it to you, and then when you graduate you get to keep it I think. Thanks!

hey
Monday, February 13 2006 at 07:00 PM

I was President at the Bryant Chapter for a few years, graduated 2004. Looks like fraternity involvement doesn't go so far, as I can't seem to get accepted anywhere...

thanks

Hey man, Just thought I would say hi to a fellow motown student. I graduate in May, and I can't believe you don't ring a bell. With all the time I have spent in Jeter, you think I would recognize someone of your description. COngrats on your acceptances.
