Extra Curricular Information

More than you could imagine. Amazingly accomplished but it doesnt really matter, if you are white its all 75% LSAT and 25% GPA.

Recycling rejection letters....

I hate being white. I am going to take a DNA test and see if I have the required 1/16 URM ancestry to qualify for AA. Now that test will be more important than the LSATs.

Additional info & updates

Only ranking schools I have not yet been rejected from. Kind of hoping for a warm weather school as is obvious from my choices for the most part. I know I have no chance at USC, it was a pipe dream. If I attend Pitt I will likely be enrolling in a dual degree program.

Anyone have comments on Miami or Pitt? Both have dim job prospects I believe, but is Pitt a better choice than Miami as the 'rankings' suggest?

Update: Out of MSU and Wayne State, someone else can have my scholarship money and free laptop!

99% I will get waitlisted (or worse) at Loyola LA but really gunning for a waitlist or late admit from them or SD/SMU. Hastings and USC need to reject me already! They are playing with my head.

5/1- finally USC! Now come on Hastings and SMU, get it over with!

5/3 - So I know I had shitty stats but this cycle was crazy, I just got fucked everywhere. I know for a fact that there are non-urms with worse scores than me that got into some of the schools I was waitlisted at. On an even sourer note, after getting deferred by SMU I asked them to consider me for the PT also, obviously it did not matter since I still received a WL. O yea, did not get rejected by Hastings yet, just put that up since I KNOW I WILL (with my scores) and they are taking fucking forever. Honestly this shows me how fucking stupid I am and I should just euthanize myself and save the world some resources, I am too slow to accomplish anything in life. Pittsburgh, here I Come......

5/13 - Withdrew from Loyola Chicago waitlist, Pitt has always been higher ranked and being a larger school has better and more respected dual degree programs (one of which I will be completing along in conjunction with Carnegie Mellon). Could not reason with myself why I would go there over Pitt.

5/14 - Finally!!!! Rejected at UC-Hastings via online status check. I edited my profile to show a rejection a long time ago because I was sure of it but they sure took their sweet time. At this point I am just happy to have an answer from every school so I can start making plans for Pitt. If I get off a waitlist after May 25th I have some very tough decisions to make. O well que sera sera...

- I am done with this account. Unless I get off a waitlist soon my law school search is complete. Good luck to all you future applicants. All I can say is dont have a shitty LSAT and/or GPA like me. Also, make sure your UG is HYS so you have a chance. Basically be a member of the elite or a minority. Middle class born, middle class for life....

6/6/06 - Today truly is the day of the devil! Turns out I got off the waitlist at Loyola - LA a week ago but my mom did not call and tell me (I started an internship in DC about 2 weeks ago so have not been getting mail here yet). She didnt want me to go 'far away' and now I cant go because THE DAY after it came I signed a housing lease in Pitt (found roommate, etc). Well Loyola is actually ranked a little below Pitt, I see it as the superior program and it is in LA, which is my dream locale. More pissed than can be explained in words.

It's a really fun place to be, and the law school is pretty nice. However, I'm not sure about job prospects either. It seems as if the majority of people graduating from pitt law get jobs in pittsburgh, western pa, west virginia, or sometimes DC.

But don't get discouraged, Pitt and Miami are both good schools!

Being from Chicago, the city of Pittsburgh just looked too quiet and depressing. Also, I really don't want to practice there as well. The law building seemed nice enough, great moot court room, nice faculty, but I just wasn't sold on location. Granted we could probably go there and then practice in Philadelphia, but I'm just not feeling it. How about you?

My folks have a place in the Florida keys and my father, who does a great deal of business in Florida, said that every reputable lawyer hes dealt with in Southern Florida has been a Miami grad. I guess they are highly regarded there, but not sure if that would be expandable to the rest of the U.S. or even the rest of the state. He was actually pushing me to apply there, but I didn't.

I'm not going to Seton Hall because

I'm interested in Patent Law. I emailed the head of the law, science and technology program, and he really had nothing to say about it. It really had nothing to do with the scholarship. Also, I decided I don't want to stay in the NJ/NYC area. I'm not much of a city girl. haha.

I probably would go to Pepperdine as it's convernient to home. I still have to visit USD and San Diego is a great city. I am waitlisted at Loyola and don't know how eary it is to change to day. They made it a point of saying don't expect to.
