Additional info & updates

12-16 UOP status check shows "decision rendered" but not what the decision is. We'll see when I get the snail mail.

12-20 Recieved acceptance packet from UOP. $18,000/yr books renewable depending on performance. Good start to application cycle.

12-23 in at Whittier via email. Second email says that I qualify for a "substatial scholarship" but won't award it unless they are sure I really want to attend. We'll see how the others go first.

1-7 Accepted at UNLV via email (admission packet in mail). Good news from my Alma mater!!!

1-10 Accepted at USF via email. Good news, batting 1.000 so far.

1-13 Received packets from UNLV and USF. Looks like Boyd really wants to keep me in-state - $15,000/yr renewable scholarship if I remain in top 1/3 of class. Given that in-state tuition is just $20,000, this is now my cheapest option. USF offered a first year non-renewable $10,000 scholarship.

2-1 Accepted at Santa Clara via status checker.

2-2 Whittier finally emailed scholarship information. $26,000 first year. After that based on a schedule of class ranking as follows; top 5% of class 100%, Top 10% of class 75%, Top 15% of class 50%, and Top 20% of class 25%.

2-4 Santa Clara packet arrived today. $7,000 first-year "Emery Merit Scholarship". No info about renewal or 2nd and 3rd year scholarship eligibility.

2-9 Accepted at Chapman via status checker. This is my first choice so Yeah!!! Also received a letter from Santa Clara clarifying scholarship. Must place in the top 25% of class for renewal in 2nd and 3rd year.

2-12 Received packet from Chapman, 30% scholarship renewable if GPA is above 3.0. This is somewhat of a disappointing surprise given the other offers I have. Of course it's better than nothing. We'll see.

2-28 Just got back from 2 week vacation that included visits to several schools. In the mail was an acceptance with full-tuition scholarship to Golden Gate. I'm still very much on the fence between Chapman, UNLV and McGeorge. Chapman is the ideal choice, especially after hearing the announcement of their new dean. Unfortunately it is also the most expensive choice of the three by a significant amount. McGeorge is the least hassle option as I can simply commute from Reno. UNLV is my least expensive Top 100 option and keeps me tied in with the Nevada legal community. Tough decision, luckily I still have a few weeks to decide.

3-1 Sent Whittier my non-acceptance email.

3-6 Received a notice from Santa Clara that Emery scholarship was increased by $500 to $7,500.

3-24 Sent my rejection notices to USF and Santa Clara. Still trying to decide between UNLV, Chapman, and McGeorge. Also waiting to hear from Davis and Irvine, although by now I am expecting denials from both.

3-28 Sure enough, received my rejection from UCI today. No big surprise. Also, received a call from Dean Ramsey at Golden Gate and gave her my notice of non-acceptance by phone. Real nice lady, it was very hard to turn down a full-tuition offer even if it was from a 4th tier school. Still waiting on a rejection from Davis and trying to decide between the other three.

4/1 Received letter from UNLV notifying of probable tuition increase to $23,900 for 2011-12 due to state budget cuts. Luckily my scholarship was percentage based (75%) so it went up as well to 17,925 for first year. I went ahead and sent $500 deposit by 4/1 deadline. In making the decision between Chapman, McGeorge and UNLV I'm having a difficult time justifying paying 4-5 times as much for the same degree. Baring some unforeseen event, it looks like I'll be at Boyd this fall.

4/28 Cycle over with rejection from Davis. UNLV here I come.....

Thanks for the congrats, even though you gave them before I knew if I was in or not. And congrats to you on UNLV. I'm curious what made you choose Whittier here in SoCal.

Just wanted to say hi since you're the only other Nevada kid I've run into on this site. Good luck with your cycle and congrats on the acceptances so far!

Congrats! Are you going to chose Chapman or Las Vegas? I would chose Chapman all the way for its beautiful California location if you can afford it! Good for you.

Congrats on your acceptances! What if any contingencies are placed on your full-ride at golden gate and your pacific scholarship?
