Additional info & updates

Sent out all my applications between January 15th and Febuary 1st. Thinking about sending out 2 or 3 more but dont know where I'd apply to.

2/26 - First update - So far got accepted at Florida Coastal by mail in a small white envelope with $5000 per year scholarship offer. Got accepted to University of Dayton via e-mail with a scholarship offer to arrive with paperwork. Friday, got rejected from UF via little white envelope. Not too upset considering I'm a Nole for life.

2/27 - Called up Southern Illinois and they told me my acceptance letter is in the mail.

2/28 - Checked West Virginia status online and got put on their deferred list to be decided between now and May 1st.

3/1 - Recieved letter of acceptance and 10k a year from Dayton.

3/5 - Recieved Official Acceptance from Southern Illinois and Florida Coastal(even though I got my scholarship offer about a month ago). Also recieved Deferal statement from West Virginia.

3/19 - Recieved small envelope today getting waitlisted at Hofstra.

3/24 - Sent deposit to Southern Illinois and withdrew from Florida Coastal and Dayton to open up spots.

4/05 - Rejected from the school I really wanted to go to Stetson. Accepted into Nova Southeastern.

4/20 - Visited FIU today. Awesome new building on a big campus. Spoke with Ms Miro about my status. Currently in committee review, which means they will have a meeting at some point again to discuss. I should hear back within the next 2-3 weeks. Overall, pretty good visit. Only concern is living arrangements in the Miami area.

4/23 - Letter from Valparasio saying I've been placed on the Admissions Pending list. Said they want me to attend once seats open up.

5/11- Letter from FIU saying I was placed on hold.

5/25 - Notified of rejection from FIU, which means I will be attending Southern Illinois.

Hi, Yes they are high on my list, but the scholarship from Appy is really appealing... In a quandry right now... My cousin graduated from SIU (undergrad) and I have been to the campus but it was more than ten years ago. I'll have to go back in July and find a place to live if I decide on it. What about you?

yes i visited FIU and came away with a great impression (it actually swayed me away from stetson and loyola -n.o.). It had by far the most dynamic teachers when talking to them of any of the schools i visited (st thomas, stetson, UM, barry, FAMU and nova are all the schools i visited). Its students were enthusiastic and easily answered all questions. the facilities (new building) are phenominal the moot courtrooms are the tied for the best out of all the places i visited (stetson had the other great moot courtrooms) and the law library was probably the best out of all the schools. Overall i decided that what I saw was worth the gamble and in state tuition definately helped also.

Hey, I'm from Carbondale and it's definetely a small town but beautiful area. The Shawnee Nat. Forest is nearby, lots of lakes, hiking fishing, biking. Friendly people, easy cost of living. Great basketball team! I'm looking forward to going back to small town USA for a while. I can recommend some landlords if you like and maybe some areas of town if you like.
