Additional info & updates

03-13-07 Email today saying I'm accepted at BYU. Mentions scholarship, says info will be in a letter.

03-20-07 Letter from BYU Dean Hernandez, promises full tuition for first year, renewable "based on continued academic performance according to law school policy." $8k x 3.

04-04-07 Dean Aguilar left a message yesterday, called him this morning to find out I've been accepted. During the phone call, he stated that the scholarship awards are determined by a second committee, and that I should have info in about a week. It's cutting it close, as I have to reply to BYU's offer by April 16th. Where to go? So far, BYU has impressed me far more than Utah. Thoughts?

04-11-07 It's official. I sent an email and a check to BYU this morning accepting their offer. Who else is attending this fall?

04-16-07 Finally received my scholarship offer from Utah, $10k over three years, which only covers about 75% of tuition. Too little, too late, I think.

Two months ago, I would have picked Utah over BYU without a second thought, but I've almost a month now to get used to the idea of attending (and commuting) to BYU. During this time, BYU has been more responsive and friendly, while Utah has been slow. Too slow.

Oh well. While I didn't expect this offer from Utah to change my decision, I was curious.

U Scholarship

The email I got from Dean Aguilar said the scholarship will cover full tuition and "has a three year value of over $45,000." It's contingent on maintaining a 3.35. Your BYU scholarship is the same one I got, and in case you're wondering, it's contingent on remaining in the top third. Assuming you get into Utah (I don't see why you wouldn't) where would you be leaning? Utah or BYU?

If you choose to go to BYU, would you withdraw from the U to give pending people a chance? thanks in advance

Congrats!

You couldn't go wrong with either BYU or Utah. Have fun at the school down south :)

Congrats

I am in incoming student at BYU I hope that you will get this message sometime in the near future. I found a message board dedicated to BYU Law and I was hoping that you could share some info about the school/teachers/your experience. Thanks. http://dearcosmo.14.forumer.com/
