Extra Curricular Information

Pretty standard softs, nothing spectacular. I worked at a Vault 5 investment bank for a while, currently work at a Vault 10 law firm in NYC. Didn't hold any leadership roles in college or participate in many clubs. Got very good LORs and wrote a solid PS. I also have a very good idea what I want to focus on in law school and what I want to do career wise afterwards.

Additional info & updates

My LSAT score is my first try, my GPA has an upward trend since Soph year.

Jun. 25 - Got LSAT score via email at 5:35 pm, very happy with results! But on a sad note... RIP Jacko :-(

Aug. 16 - Sent emails to UVA, Michigan, Northwestern, and Georgetown requesting fee waivers. UVA and Michigan granted within 3 hours via email, Georgetown told me my numbers weren't high enough (I'm not applying now out of pure spite), and Northwestern referred me to an app form on their website.

Aug. 26 - Received viewbooks and fee waivers in the mail from Cornell and Michigan. Dean Z from Michigan handwrote a very nice note in addition to the letter that came in the package.

Sep. 3 - Sent in app to Virginia. App was received and status changed to "Under Review" on the same day I sent it in.

Sep. 4 - Sent in Columbia, Chicago, NYU and Duke apps right before the Labor Day weekend. I received a fee waiver for Duke via email but did not get invited to apply for the Priority Track.

Sep. 8 - Chicago and Duke went complete this morning, got emails from both schools.

Sep. 15 - Sent in UPenn app, watched another chunk of my precious savings float away, never to return. Received fee waivers from UCLA, Vanderbilt, and Illinois via email.

Sep. 16 - Columbia went complete, received email. Suddenly I'm a bit nervous...

Sep. 25 - Sent in app to Michigan, can feel initial burst of excitement and motivation for filling out apps dwindling, may very well never get around to sending out the rest of my apps.

Oct. 1 - Michigan and Penn emailed to say my app was received, but will not be complete until LSAC sends LSDAS info.

Oct. 2 - Complete at Penn.

Oct. 15 - Sucked it up and sent my app to Berkeley, don't know what will come of it. Decided not to submit apps to Cornell and UCLA despite having fee waivers and completed essays/applications. If for some reason I'm rejected everywhere, then no law school for me!

It's all in the adcoms' hands now :o)

Oct. 21 - Complete at Berkeley and Michigan, via emails.

Nov. 3 - *Finally* complete at NYU.

Dec. 1 - Accepted ED at Columbia, withdrawing from all other schools-- none of whom have responded yet.... bah to them all.

Dec. 2 - Received paper copy of acceptance letter in the mail, one sheet in a plain vanilla envelope. If not for my email I would've thought this was a rejection letter. Thank God for email... officially sending out all withdrawal emails today to other schools. My law school admissions cycle is officially over :o)

Dec. 7 - Received a big purple envelope informing me I have been accepted at NYU. The letter is dated 12/1. I withdrew by email on 12/3.

Thank you! I would LOVE to get your LSAT number :) Good luck with NYU! You most certainly will get in--your numbers look great! Do you work midtown or downtown?

Midtown here...and I love it!!! The rush hr. must really suck for you then :(

Good luck with Columbia and NYU.

Those are my first two choices as well (obviously dependent upon LSAT score). From last year's chart you look like a lock for NYU and a good chance at Columbia.

Thanks for the well wishes

but no such rocking occurred. Retaking in Dec, this time I'll lay off the early morning coffee a bit. And hopefully I won't be so nervous either.

Congrats on Columbia!

Withdraw letters

Hey, I sent my withdrawal notices via email and thought it was really funny to see what responses came back. Some notes seemed kind of pissy, and some were really kind (particularly NYU).

Thanks

I appreciate the encouragement. Have fun in the legal capital of the world. I think you'll be gettin' yourself a great education. :)

Congrats on Columbia!

Quick question- how did you withdraw from your other schools? I sent an email to the address on NYU's website, and some automated service replied with info on fee wavers... Definitely not what I was looking for.
