Decisions:
11-22-06- Duke sends e-mail announcing a decision and then follows it up with acceptance packet
12-08-06- Georgetown sends a small letter to my campus address, follows it up with student ambassador information sent to my permanent address (well played, Georgetown)
12-12-06- Texas deferral by e-mail. I'm neither smart enough nor Texan enough for them.
12-19-06- Fordham acceptance by e-mail. Letter follows to my permanent address
12-21-06- BU acceptance packet to my permanent address
1-3-07- Michigan e-mail. I'll list it as a deferral for now, although it doesn't seem quite as damaging as the Texas deferral.
1-12-07- In at GW via e-mail
1-16-07- On hold at Northwestern. I withdrew because I don't think I would choose it over the schools I'm already admitted to.
2-2-07- Columbia is "unable" to take favorable action on my application. I think they were perfectly able to admit me, it's just that they chose not to. Them trying to soften the blow doesn't make it any better.
2-7-07- The expected Harvard rejection arrives. I love Boston, but with the acceptances I have, this hurts less.
3-17-07- UVA Priority non-resident waitlist. The letter said that their LSAT average for admits rose to 171, up from 169 last year. That, to me is pretty conclusive evidence that this new ABA "take the high score" policy makes it incumbent upon applicants to take the LSAT early and often.
3-28-07- Michigan waitlist by e-mail. It's actually kind of a relief. Michigan's a great school and I would have had to consider them, but coming from ND, I wouldn't have felt right going there. Now I can root for their football team to lose every game like I have the past four years with no emotional conflict.
4-3-07- NYU rejection. After 4+ months they were kind of out of my thoughts anyway, not that I ever expected to get in.

My cycle is thus over and I'm excited and ready to get started at Georgetown next fall.

Best of luck, unfortunately I will not be attending a school of your caliber!

no Notre Dame?

I notice that you went there for undergrad- is there a reason you are not applying there for law school? Just curious...

thanx!

I would kill for your LSAT score.. lol, then I would definitely be in. I love ND so much, if I had a 180 I would go there. Thanks for the encouragement, even if I don't get in this year, you can bet I'll be trying to transfer.

harsh letter

Sorry about Columbia - I got the boot too, in addition to finding their letter rather harsh. I mean, come on, at least you could make something up about us being "excellent candidates," right?

Texas

65 or 70% of students matriculating at Texas must be Texas residents according to state law. That may help explain your deferral...
