Just got back from a free two day visit at OCU. I was thoroughly impressed with the whole event (High Ideals) and was one of about 60 students. You get the feel that they are attempting to bring in a higher quality student and faculty. I had the chance to sit next to the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs at a dinner. He received his UG and JD from Harvard and was then a partner in a large Dallas firm before entering into Academics. (Just a sidenote they have 7 professors from Harvard and 2 from Yale I believe). He gave me the impression the the President of the college and the Law School Dean have made it a priority to better the law school. By the way if you have never been to Oklahoma City, don't write it off before visiting. There are a bunch of things going on in the area.

3-23-07
Just withdrew from MCSL, UALR, LaVerne and Detroit Mercy. I couldn't imagine myself going to any of those schools with the others I have been accepted into. I also realized that people are waiting on those schools just as I am waiting on other schools. Hopefully my withdrawals will let some waiting souls into their "dream" schools. Now if others would continue this so I can get into my top choices!

3-23-07
I'm going to throw GGU in the withdrawal pile also. Was just informed that they will give me 10,000 my first year and then split another 10,000 between my second and third years. Unfortunately I would not be willing to spend roughly 18,000 out of my own pocket to go to GGU.

3-28-07
Was just moved off of Miami's deferred list to the waitlist. I have to believe that one of these waitlist is going to pan out!

4-27-07
Have decided I will choose between Tulsa or OCU. So I will make a visit to each soon and see how I feel.

5-11-07
After reviewing my file Tulsa has offered me a $9,000 per year scholarship. This really can't match the $16,000 per year deal I've got at OCU. I also only have to stay in the top half of the class to retain the scholarship. I'm not saying I want to be near that mark, but that does provide some security to the whole situation. I felt that OCU was one of the few schools that actually made an effort to make me feel wanted. They achieved this through High Ideals and numerous e-mails. I understand that many of the schools I applied to have many more qualified applicants than myself, but feeling wanted is a great thing. Thus I will be attending OCU in the fall and can't wait. I also spoke with Dean Orza of the School of Business who offered me $10,000 towards my MBA. I really feel that this is the best option for me and one that will allow me to maintain my contacts in the area. Oklahoma City is definitely a good town to be in at this time too, with many new businesses coming in and professional franchises looking to tap this "newfound" market. Thanks to all for help throughout and best of luck to all in the future.

I'm thinking about trying to get into sports law too. From what I hear, a lot of the bigger representation agencies are looking for lawyers as they expand the services they offer to clients. Hopefully, this bodes well for those of us trying to get into the field... Good luck to you.

TU?

I've applied to TU and OKCU in addition to many others. I was waitlisted at OKCU last year and was an inch from moving there. Would moving to OK be a good move, or is OK kind of a cespool? I only know what I've heard. Anyfeedback would be great. Thanks and good luck.

Thanks

for the advice. My supervisor's UG buddy is a 2L at OCU, so I'll probably get ahold of him. Glad to hear it's not oversaturated with fine barristers, too. Most state school cities (Fayetteville, Columbia, etc.) are just cram-packed with attorneys, but OC's a big enough market I don't think that'd be an issue. Tulsa for that matter, either. My heart's still set on UMKC, but I'll whore myself to whomever. At least I won't lie about it. Thanks, again.

ASU is probably my number one choice. I would like to work for a team's front office in some capacity but I am really open to anything having to do with the sports world. Best of luck

Congrats on both OK schools, and if you would, let me know the dates you sent your apps for both. It's gotta be getting pretty close to time for me to hear something. AND, where did you play and where do you assist? Thanks.

Just visited them last weekend and I am trying to decide between those two....what about you? I LOVE basketball...so it sounds like you have a pretty sweet job.

I was notified of the scholarship with the acceptance. Its basically $12,000 for the first year only, so I could then establish Missouri residence and pay in-state price. I just visited the school and liked what I saw in the school and city. Miami is on the top of my list and they told me that they would notify me of a new decision some time in April. If not Miami, UMKC. I have basically almost dismissed St. Louis. The reason being is that though they are ranked higher, they cost a lot and their median starting salary isn't too different from UMKC.

I really liked UMKC. They recently updated their courtroom and it is really nice. The faculty seemed really nice and informative. They put the faculty offices right beside the 2Ls and 3Ls. I was not able to sit in on a class since it was Spring Break. I feel exactly the same way about Miami. I just heard from them yesterday and I went from Deferral to Waitlist. I guess I can only wait to see if I get off that waitlist. Good luck!

Hey I was just wondering, what date is GGU's commitment deposit due by? Thanks!
