It appears as if we do have very similar stats. Best of luck, I will be following your cycle. Where do you go btw? My favorite color is *green*

UVA

Honestly, how much do you want to hear about it? I could go on for a while! I went to visit and loved the facilities, town and their mentality on maintaining a balance between rigorous academics and a strong social scene. But the deciding factor for me was the students I talked with while I was there. They were the kind of people I wanted to take classes with. Totally diverse, but really outgoing and clearly loved their school. I'm so excited to be there next year! Let me know if you want to hear more and good luck!

The streak
Monday, June 12 2006 at 08:00 PM

I'm up to 8-for-8, but I have a feeling that it's not going to last much longer. If I could get into half of what I have left, I would be a very happy person.

UPenn
Saturday, December 02 2006 at 07:00 PM

Are you planning on sending extra stuff to Penn? I am sorta split in thinking it might be really annoying or helpful.

$$
Sunday, December 11 2005 at 07:00 PM

I'm not sure yet, to tell you the truth. Right now I'm leaning toward Penn because I really like it when I visited. That being said, I have yet to visit Duke. If I really like Duke, I would go there over Penn. One reason why I didn't apply to all the T10 schools was because quality of life is very important to me. I'll go wherever I feel the most comfortable and where I think I'll have the most success as a person and a student. Money won't be a huge factor in the decision.

Penn and Duke
Saturday, December 02 2006 at 07:00 PM

Well, I am with you on the LORs for UPenn, too much a hassal to ask some one else. I am thinking about a writing sample, since I have enough papers and what not to submit. As for Duke, yeh I think the money will play an important role in my decision making process. I am thinking about public service in the future so debt consideration is important to me.

UMich!
Monday, June 12 2006 at 08:00 PM

Congratulations on Michigan!! I'm curious what your numbers are...shoot me an e-mail if you'd like to share.

re: duke $$
Monday, June 12 2006 at 08:00 PM

As it stands right now, not really. I've got several reasons to choose other schools, so unless they gave me a full ride and I got nothing at a couple other places, it doesnt seem likely.

UMich
Wednesday, December 13 2006 at 07:00 PM

They sent it separately in an envelope about a month after the acceptance.

Thanks!
Friday, August 18 2006 at 08:00 PM

And congrats to you as well, on Chicago and your amazing cycle! What's your top choice so far? (And I'm relieved that I'm not the only one with our complete date to not hear yet from UVA - hopefully they'll accept both of us soon!). Good luck with the rest of your schools!

Chicago
Saturday, December 02 2006 at 07:00 PM

Well, Chicago makes the whole process more interesting, but still going to have to wait and see. Am learning towards UVa, at the moment. What about you? Made up your mind yet?

Duke $$
Monday, August 14 2006 at 08:00 PM

It may sway me but I think I will rely more on school visits to decide. Hopefully some of the other schools will be willing to match Duke's offer. Congratulations on your admits so far.. where are you leaning?

At the moment
Friday, August 18 2006 at 08:00 PM

I think I'm leaning towards Chicago :) But with NYU and UVA still in the field, and HLS to hear from regarding the hold, it's still pretty up in the air. I'm relieved that I'm one step closer to being done with the cycle though!

Withdrawing
Sunday, November 12 2006 at 07:00 PM

I called W&L since I withdrew before a decision was made (I got into Duke and knew that even with full ride I wouldn't take W&L over it). The others have included forms. I'm withdrawing as quickly as I can from schools where I have no intention of going, but keeping contenders in play.

Yeah, I got an email on 2-09 and a phone call on 2-12. I hope that helps...Goodluck!!

Penn
Sunday, October 01 2006 at 08:00 PM

Yes, I sent in additional materials to Penn. I think I may have sent it in a little later than I should have but hey...

Thanks
Tuesday, September 26 2006 at 08:00 PM

Thanks for your message! I am leaning SLS right now.

Chicago and Harvard
Monday, October 02 2006 at 08:00 PM

Harvard doesn't accept withdrawal requests over telephone, so I had to write them pencil and paper. I couldn't get around to doing that til' late Jan. But they accepted me before I could write. Sucks, huh? Anyhow, Chicago is just as much a dream school (if not more) for me. I'll definitely be seeing you.

Chicago
Friday, August 18 2006 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on Chicago! I decided to early decision there since it has been my dream school for some time. Honestly, I'm still simply amazed that I've been so fortunate. Reasons why it has been my dream school primarily include the incredible faculty, especially in law in economics, and the relatively small class size. Couple that with its incredible job placement and it was the perfect fit for me! Hope to see you at ASW!

RE: Penn WL
Tuesday, February 07 2006 at 07:00 PM

I did not apply EA, but I sent my application in very early. I also did not write a Why Penn? essay, which I think contributed to the WL. Of course, my numbers were marginal for Penn, so I hate to speculate. BTW-Congrats on all of the great acceptances so far!

Thanks for your nice message! Probably NYU... but if i get into U of C all bets are off! congrats on your acceptance there--i could not be more jealous. would you mind sharing your numbers with me? you can email them if you're not comfortable posting them on LSN where are you leaning toward?

Thanks...
Monday, July 24 2006 at 08:00 PM

Thanks for the congratulations...it looks like you've done pretty well yourself! Right now I think I've narrowed it down to Chicago, UVa, and GW...This decision is driving me crazy because I want to end up working for the fed. gov't in DC and the full-ride at GW would be great for that while 150k debt elsewhere would put it on hold, but at the same time Chicago is Chicago and tough to pass up! Good luck as you decide between all the great schools you got into...

right now...
Friday, September 29 2006 at 08:00 PM

leaning toward YLS, pretty heavily. I'll definitely be visiting Harvard and Stanford, though. And I'm not ready to take Chicago, UVA, or UMich out of the running.

Thursday, October 26 2006 at 08:00 PM

Are you planning on attending the U.Chi ASW? If so, might meet you there. :)

don't really know
Tuesday, December 12 2006 at 07:00 PM

I always wanted to go to Georgetown... in reality I was hoping to get rejected from a few schools to make this easier. The four I'm deciding between are GULC, Berkely, Duke, and George Washington. I'm going to go visit them all, see if any offer near what GWU did, and then make my decision.

columbia i guess
Monday, October 23 2006 at 08:00 PM

I guess I'm leaning towards Columbia. I always dreamed of going to UVA or Georgetown, but things have gone far better than I ever imagined. It's a good problem to have, but still difficult. Congrats on all your fine acceptances.

..and congrats to you as well on the amazing choices! I don't know where I want to end up yet, although I just visited Penn and LOVED it. I'm also looking at BC, but they'd have to show some $$ love...and am visiting a bunch of other schools over the next month. How about you?

I don't know. As of today, I will go to Cornell, but that could changes when I find out from Columbia. I have an interview with them on Monday and they will let me know what's up that week. So if I get in I go, if not Ithaca for 3 more years

hey
Thursday, October 05 2006 at 08:00 PM

thanks. I'm not sure at this point. I am really hoping Chicago comes through, but if not, it will be between Berkeley and Virginia.

I am leaning towards Michigan. I have not visited there, but everyone I know who has always uses the same word...."awesome." Where are you leaning and why?

Re: UVA
Wednesday, October 25 2006 at 08:00 PM

Yup, definitely UVA... Deposit is in the mail. That looking pretty sure for you too?

uva
Monday, October 23 2006 at 08:00 PM

I am considering UVA over Columbia. I prefer the UVA culture and the scholarship helps a lot. Basically, I think I'd be a lot happier at UVA. But law school isnt just about happiness, and I cannot ignore Columbia's superior resources. Its a tough decision for me. Money from Columbia would make it easier.

I'll try
Sunday, March 25 2007 at 08:00 PM

I'm going to UVA this week, I'll tell you how it goes for me. The money difference isn't huge (36K vs. 54K), but I sure hope they make it up.

Bad news...
Sunday, March 25 2007 at 08:00 PM

Well, they didn't match. The school was awesome. I went to Duke and UVA this weekend, and I eliminated Duke. I'm waiting to hear from Harvard and Penn (I got a really weird phone call from someone at Penn this week, asking if I was still interested), but if nothing changes I'll be at UVA.

I will
Sunday, December 11 2005 at 07:00 PM

just as soon as I find it again. I read it in fall '05 when I started researching law schools. I haven't been able to find it again, but I'm still looking...!

UChi v UVA
Saturday, December 02 2006 at 07:00 PM

I think I am leaning towards UVA for the same reason as you, quality of life. I think the jobs will be there after graduation. UVA seems to have great placement of students.

Penn
Sunday, March 25 2007 at 08:00 PM

I'm probably going to Penn now. The phone caller also asked if I had anything to add to my app, and I said yes, my Dad lives about an hour away from the campus. The person I spoke to was from Philly, and went to school at Penn to be by her family. I guess it was the right answer, because I got in. I also told them how interested I was in the school, and as someone with a business background and an interest in business law, Penn makes a lot of sense.

uva v. umich
Thursday, December 01 2005 at 07:00 PM

I ended up choosing Michigan for a couple reasons. 1) I liked my visit much more at Mich than I did at UVA, 2) Location of Ann Arbor (closer to airport, I liked the town better, I can deal with the weather), and 3) I hope to practice in Cali or Colorado and Michigan places slightly better than Uva in these regions (in nearly all the data I've seen). Good luck with your decision, it definitely wasn't easy.

Wow
Sunday, March 25 2007 at 08:00 PM

I went up to Penn today. When I checked my email after I left, I was awarded slightly more money than I was at UVA. I loved the campus, and the area. It's going to be a tough call, but I'm leaning Penn. This is going to be the toughest decision of my life, but I know I can't really make a wrong choice. It's a good problem to have, deciding between two awesome schools.

Virginia
Monday, August 14 2006 at 08:00 PM

I'm heading to Virginia next year

Just made my decision
Tuesday, July 04 2006 at 08:00 PM

Headed to Michigan. I told them where I was considering (and about the UVA Scholarship) and they called me a couple days ago to match. Hence the equal amount. Congrats to you on all your acceptances! They're all fantastic schools.

UMich vs. UVA
Tuesday, July 04 2006 at 08:00 PM

Sorry, I haven't checked in a few days. Ultimately, my decision was very personal. I visited both, and while I liked both very much, I just seemed to feel more comfortable at Michigan than at Virginia. I felt the students at both places were really nice, but the ones at Michigan struck me as just a teensy more down to earth and a little more intellectual. That's what I was looking for. I also fell in love with the law quad (I'm a history major, so the gothic architecture grabbed me more than UVA Law--but UVA Law is probably the nicest law school I've ever seen). I also thought that the Detroit airport being only 30 mins. away as opposed to having to drive 1.5/2 hours to Richmond or Dulles was a plus. Virginia's a fantastic school though. I don't know if you had a chance to visit either place, but you should if you can. I'd just go with the school that feels right. That's what I did. You really can't go wrong (I'm sure everyone says that, but it's really true).

Re: UVA

I'm an in-state resident as wlel, so that makes UVA even more appealing...
