Additional info & updates

11/13 - Fordham acceptance via email. Totally not expecting a decision so soon! Looks like I'm going to law school for sure.

11/28 - St. John's accepts me via large white envelope, and offers me a full scholarship for all three years.

12/07 - Deferral from Georgetown via small white envelope. Not unexpected, although I'm a legacy at the law school, so I was hoping to be bumped up a little.

12/19 - W&M acceptance via big white envelope. Weird letter. Definitely my last choice location-wise.

12/21 - Accepted at Cardozo via big white envelope. UChicago (the only school i didn't pay online) cashes my check, although I'm not sure if that has anything to do with anything.

1/10 - St. John's Admissions Officer calls, wants to convince me to come there.

1/24 - Call from William & Mary. Very touchy feely. If I weren't looking to be in a city, I'd consider it.

1/29 - I called NYU to check my application status, since it's been almost three months since I was complete - they told me that my app is still under review, and it's a comparative process, so I officially have no idea when I'm going to hear from them.

1/29 - Put on hold at Northwestern via email. I'm not sending the form back.

2/1 - Waitlisted at GW. Small cream envelope. I'm withdrawing - there are other places I'd rather be.

2/2 - Rejected at Columbia in a small white envelope containing the harshest rejection letter I've ever read. They might as well have sent me a picture of the Admissions Committee giving me the finger.

2/5 - Rejected at UChicago in a small white envelope. Very apologetic letter.

2/13 - Called NYU again. My application is still being reviewed. I'm sending another LOR in the hope that that will tip the scales in my favor. It's been three and a half months since my app was complete.

2/22 - Cardozo offers me a $22,500 scholarship, renewable each year if I maintain a certain GPA. This is getting harder. Still waiting on NYU, which is still absolutely my first choice.

3/1 - Called NYU again. I'm still under review. This is absolutely ridiculous...it's been four months.

3/5 - After being deferred, I was placed on the non-preferred waitlist at Georgetown, which is fine, since I was withdrawing my app there anyway.

3/19 - Fordham gives me a 10k scholarship, renewable each year.

3/30 - I called NYU again, and I'm STILL under review. I can't believe it - I've been complete five months.

4/4 - I put my Fordham deposit in the mail today. The more I hear about the school, the more I like it - it has everything I'm looking for and the location is perfect. I still haven't heard from NYU, but frankly, it seems pretty obvious that they don't want me. Yay! I made a decision!

4/17 - NYU made me wait almost six months just to reject me (small white envelope, letter dated April 9 - I didn't realize they still sent letters by pony express). No matter - I made up my mind a long time ago to go to Fordham. It's over!

Columbia

Sorry to hear about Columbia. Our numbers are near-identical, and I haven't heard from them yet. I'm wondering exactly how harsh it was, but I'll probably find out soon enough. Good luck!

lol, our scores are mighty similar - this is Lemonlaid, by the way. Sorry to hear about the harsh rejection letter... I haven't gotten any of those yet, but it's only a matter of time before U of M and Georgetown send them my way. :) Good luck! I assume you're holding out for NYU, right? If not, William & Mary is BEAUTIFUL! They're 2 hours south of DC, so there is culture, plus you're near all the naval bases so there are men everywhere. And there's busch gardens right around the corner. And historic williamsburg. All sorts of whatnot to do. Definitely not a big city, but there are tons of govt jobs, and so tons of people nearby. You may want to visit before totally scratching them off the list. :) Have a great day!

Thanks for the note--we do have similar numbers, and certainly similar schools we're applying to. I'm bummed about NYU, but was expecting it (a part of me thought it was a possibility though--everyone can dream, right?). Good luck with NYU, if they are holding out this long, they must be seriously considering you!

St. John's

Hey, congrats on the St. John's scholarship. I got the same deal (free ride for 3 years). I applied to 20 schools, and a whole bunch of them better than St. John's (including Fordham and GWU, I didn't get too ambitious with NYU and Columbia etc. though) but I am definitely leaning toward St. John's. I mean, really, how can you beat a free NY law school education?

hey, congrats on finally making a decision. Apparently my NYU rejection is being sent via carrier pigeon as well. So how did you get this money from Fordham? I want to go but dont know if I can afford NYC?

Yay!

That's great, I look forward to meeting you. Are you excited? I'm kinda nervous, but I can't wait for school to start, I'm getting kinda bored.
