Additional info & updates

1-27-09: Have been accepted to OU, Tulsa ($$), and SLU. Not my top choices, so I am still waiting to see where else I can get in. The waiting game is terrible.

1-29-09: Deferred until regular decision at SMU and at Houston. Not surprised and at least its not a rejection. I am quickly finding out though that since some of the schools are semi-reaches that I will probably not get very much money. Stupid LSAT.

1-30-09: Accepted to Baylor's Spring 2010 program...made me decide to apply to George Mason for its JD/MA Econ program...Don't know why I didn't do this earlier.

2-2-09: Waitlisted at American and rejected at Hastings...both decisions were pretty predictable. (sigh)

2-13-09: First news in awhile is good news!!! In at Pepperdine. Going to visit the campus in 3 weeks so I'm pumped!

2-18-09: $51,000 from St. Louis warrants a visit to the city in the next month.

2-20-09: Are you freaking kidding me Houston? Enough said. Atta way to be a numbers whore.

2-23-09: I don't know why I do these things but I guess if DePaul will waive the application fee then why not send one just to see what happens?

2-26-09: Waitlisted by Wake Forest. Definitely a surprise there. Still holding a grudge against Houston...

2-27-09: Declined by GMU. Crappy week...

03-13-09: Finally hear from someone after long wait. Accepted P/T at SMU. Don't know how I feel about that. Waitlisted at Loyola, but not concerned because I visited the school last week and was thoroughly unimpressed.

3-24-09: Pending anything unforseen I am going to Pepperdine. For anyone who has not been there, the campus is amazing, and they are LITERALLY the only school that has stayed on top of everything from financial aid to taking my questions to babying me in this whole process. BTW I met Dean Starr when I went to the campus, and despite the fact that I do not necessarily share the same political views as him, he is an incredibly nice and understanding guy to talk to and I would love to someday pick his brain. Best of luck to everyone and the rest of their cycle.

6-27-09: So I retook my LSAT and got a 165 and got scholly money from Pepperdine. Excited about that. Considered taking ANOTHER year off, but at this point I am ready to go to school. Most of the schools on this list I would probably be accepted to, but I really want to go to California, particularly the LA area, and I don't think my scores are quite good enough to get into USC/UCLA. Plus that would be just another of potential lost wages, and I figure I would ultimately lose money, so decision is made.

7-2-09: Made a decision. Got a call from SMU this week offering full-enrollment and 60K in scholly money. Can't turn it down. Word to the wise...if you think you can still do better on the LSAT, it is definitely worth the retake. You never know what will come of it unless you try again.

Oh for sure. UCI isn't my top choice, unless I don't get into any other places except from them and my current pacific and santa clara. ;) I think it'll be itneresting. When they start accepting and sending out information some basic questions will be answered about the program, expectations, etc.

I find it amazing that they rejected us without a wait list. Amazing.

Considering applying to UH part time?

SMU/Houston

I'm very surprised to hear you got accepted to SMU but rejected to Houston. I'm applying to both and I was under the impression SMU was decidedly better than Houston. Any idea of why this happened to you? BTW, I'm a 160/3.57, so it seems that I'm essentially identical to you in stats.I'm also confused as to why you have already heard back from both SMU and Houston and I haven't heard back from either and I applied Early Decision to both. Any ideas on this too?

Congrats on Pepperdine. I am on the waitlist, so I hope to see you there in the fall!

Both full and part-time. I just did not feel happy with the situation and I would rather have the traditional law school experience.

Congrats on your acceptances...but I was wondering why it was predictable that you got rejected from schools such as Hastings and waitlisted at Loyola?
