Additional info & updates

Hello,

Due to the fact that I have already taken out student loans for my undergrad, I am hoping to receive tuition money from whichever schools accept me. That is why I am applying to so many schools. My Goal: To pay as little for law school while still attending a very good school.

I am a typical good student but haven't joined any groups really, due to the fact that I work nearly full time while going to school full time. I was inducted into an Honor Society in 2009. The law school admissions counsel killed my GPA, because of my crappy freshman year. My current undergraduate GPA is a 3.7. Also, I have pretty good letters of recommendation; One of my letters are from a relatively well known State Representative.

Feel free to ask me any questions regarding applications or the schools I have applied to. I respond to all inquires.

P.S. I wish everyone a lot of luck with this admissions cycle!

"""""""""""""ALL SCHOLARSHIPS ARE PER YEAR """""""""""""""

//////////// Updates:

12-20-2010: I made the Dean's List for the seventh time. I'm probably going to try to update my transcripts to the LSAC.

12-21-2010: I received a letter from University of Pittsburgh yesterday informing me of a $14,000/year scholarship. Also, I was in my online staus checker page for Hofstra I am listed as a recipient of a Honors Scholarship, but I do not know yet how much it is worth.

1-5-2011: Accepted at Georgia State University via online status checker. I will post if they grant me any scholarships.

1-25-2011: Online status checker @ New York Law School says admitted with scholarship. I will post the amount once I know.

2-7-2011: ***The scholarship from UConn is only for the first year.

Choosing URM Status
Thursday, July 08 2010 at 08:00 PM

Unfortunately this is a competition so with my actually being half Puerto Rican "milking it" isn't inaccurate... it is the truth. I researched other sources and apparently you only need to be 1/4 of the minority group you are claiming; I think Native American may be 1/8. So if you are a quarter, or in my case half of an URM enthnicity, why wouldn't you use it? I suggest everyone do the same, if the rule applies to them. P.S. I always choose white AND hispanic on my applications so the colleges know that I am mixed and not 100% hispanic. No worries. I just wanted to share some info with the Law School Numbers community.

Congrats!

Congrats on all of your acceptances! I'm jealous! I'm hoping to get into SCU as well. Did you happen to answer the questions for the Special Admissions Committee review? I'm curious to see if you think that really helps an applicant.

Hello and thank you. Due to the fact that I cannot remember anything about a special admissions committee question, I would have to say that I did not do them. Regarding all of my applications: If the application accepted additional essays but they were not required, I did not submit them.. I only submitted my personal statement. There were some schools that did REQUIRE additional essays in which I complied, but it was only a couple of the schools I applied to. I think Yeshiva Cardozo and University of Conn. Hope this helps.

Hello. It came in a separate letter. I received the decision letter in late September and the Scholarship letter in early November.

Hello. I as checking my staus online at least every other day. I received an email that I had been accepted and the email contained a username/password to access my acceptance letter. My status didn't change until they sent me the email that I had been accepted on 12-3-10. Hope this helps.

@ Spack Hello. The scholarship Information was included right in the admissions letter. If it is in there, it should be very easy to spot. @ swilson Hello. I believe the SCU scholarship is called the "Faculty Scholars Award" or something to that effect. I have no idea what it has to do with the faculty because I am not employed there lol. I guess it's just because it was awarded by the faculty.

I do not believe that the online status checker mentioned anything about a scholarship. I was notified by the of the scholarship by the acceptance letter I received in the mail.
