That's great to hear about the Tier 1 weighted grading. I hope it helps though I'm seriously reconsidering this whole law deal. Then again it's nice to have options. And I hope you have many!
Thanks for the note! My app was received on 10/01 and I didn't hear a word on it until yesterday. I'm sure you'll hear something soon. But I emailed on the 10th or so inquiring to me sure they received my application and they were very nice about it. Hope you hear something soon!!! Good luck to you!!!
Hey, thanks for the good words. Maybe we'll see each other at Michigan? YOU NEVER KNOW!!!!! Hahaha, anyway, shoot me an email sometime, sis.
Si, parlo Italiano... piu o meno :) Oh, I wish I had known about those predictor calculators a year ago. I'm not gonna get in anywhere! Hah.
Good luck this cycle!!!
I definitely understand how stressed you are!! Today, I had a mini-freak out that I wouldn't get in anywhere and added yet another school. Oops.
Also, which liberal arts school did you go to? Was it in California, by chance?
Ahhh, fantastic school! Well, I was thinking maybe you went to Scripps (also tied for #23) which is in the consortium where I graduated. Hang in there, though, and hopefully we'll hear back sooner than we expect!
Hey, thanks, I appreciate it. I hope your cycle goes according to plan!
Spack, I did write the 'Why Kent' essay, although I feel it was too concise to be 'heartfelt'. I chose to write one because I thought that not writing would hurt my chances, regardless of whether it felt genuine or not. I mean, how heartfelt can you make 'I want to attend your law school because of its innovation and trial advocacy record'? I described my reasoning as best I could with the narrow parameters set (if I recall correctly, the essay had to be 500 words or less, or something similarly concise), so I don't think that writing a 'why' essay and sending it in (even if you feel it lacks genuineness) will hurt you. Just be truthful. Good luck with Kent and on your cycle! Keep me updated on what you decide to do with Kent and the essay!
No, Hofstra hasn't sent me anything official yet. However, I did apply there last cycle so I already have my status checker info. from them and it still works. It appears they haven't done much because my status checker has said "application received" since 9/13. I can't imagine it will be much longer before they get the ball rolling though. Good luck!
I laughed out loud when I saw your comment about the Syracuse scholly essays. I felt the exact same way and almost did the same! The only thing that made me push through it was their promising trial team, joint program in public communications, and the fact that an alumni of both my undergrad institution and SUCOL advised me to apply. Good luck at Santa Clara! Gotta love those special admissions reviews! Temple has something similar, which made me happy. :-)
on American! Must be a huge relief for you to get the first one under your belt.
Congrats on AU too!!! And, yknow what, screw DePaul - they have no idea what they're doing!
Way to go! AU is a great school... I'm a lil jealous.
Congratulations on your admission to AU! Hopefully I'll hear some good news from them, too, as I would like to be in DC (and I have accepted that there's no way in hell I'm getting into GWU...haha). I hope the acceptance letters continue to flood your inbox! Good luck!
Status Checker did not change. Still only says "Application Complete" I assume the same will be for you when you get your decision. I am still waiting on American. Hopefully will be this week. Stay hopeful and don't let the haters get to you. So what if they're hating cause you're Black? Be proud and let the angry white boys talk. While they do you'll be gettin a degree. Feel me?
Sis, please don't sweat it. Jealousy and racism, that is all. And so what if you did get in because you're black? I think 300 hundred years of slavery followed by 100 years of legalized racism gives us a little room to exploit the current academic system. It's not like a law degree is gonna make our skin any lighter. We still Negroes, real talk.
(1) I second hollah7 and am appauled that someone would say anything in the first place!!! and, (2) I'm in the same boat re: withdrawing. I feel like it may be a good idea so I'm not wasting adcomms' time or potentially filling up a space from someone who would actually go there. Keep me updated on what you decide!
Sorry for taking so long. So far, I still haven't heard from Hofstra. I haven't received confirmation that they've received my app as I have yet to receive my username/temp password to check the status of my app. I'll let you know if anything changes.
That's a good suggestion and I've been considering AU for a long time. I think I will go ahead and apply there soon. I don't know about Chicago (sadly I've never visited) but I do love DC. Except for the fact that people are really mean here.
Good Luck with your application cycle
Thanks for the comment! Interviews are def a blessing in disguise....It gives you that extra boost to your application that you may be needing. You have a great lsat score, dont stress about the waitlists....I'm sure you'll get in to them :)
Hello and thank you. Due to the fact that I cannot remember anything about a special admissions committee question, I would have to say that I did not do them. Regarding all of my applications: If the application accepted additional essays but they were not required, I did not submit them.. I only submitted my personal statement. There were some schools that did REQUIRE additional essays in which I complied, but it was only a couple of the schools I applied to. I think Yeshiva Cardozo and University of Conn. Hope this helps.
How is everything going? I just wanted to check in and make sure you're still doing well.
Thanks! And congrats on American. Good luck on the rest of your cycle.
I guess I haven't been applying to some higher ranked schools because they don't seem to offer $ unless you break or meet their 75th percentiles. I've been lurking around LSN for a while, and it seems like the Tier 3/4 schools would give me the most $ for my scores. Did you get a $ offer from American?
Good to know. Thanks for the info, and it'd be great if you update your profile if you do get any scholarship offers in the letter.
Hahaha...thanks. Yeah I see a couple people around there all the time and often wonder if they are over here as well. I am active when I can be on both sites. Im really wanting to get some decisions soon...just to get some decisions under my belt. I am lucky/happy that I got the PSU acceptance so quickly, but now I am wanting more decisions LOL. I do wish you the best of luck at Case and W&L. Keep in touch!
Hey, I was Waitlisted too. Go figure. Congrats on American, though! That's awesome. We should be hearing from Hofstra soon -- counting down to the 15th?
Congrats on American! You should definately submit those documents to Depaul since its one of your top choices. Regarding W&L its not the fact am not going there its more that I would really like to see an e-mail/status checker/letter that an acceptance for a change. Good luck with the rest of your cycle! I am rooting for you :)
Thanks for the heads up, Spack. I got mine also yesterday. It's nice to know that they actually acknowledged me, lol.
Hey there! I actually do think that the "Why MSU" and LOCI essays will help a lot. Michigan State is very aggressive in their recruiting and they have a ton of applicants as a result. In order to YP, they want to make sure they arent accepting people who applied just because of the fee waiver. I think you have a very good chance at MSU with your numbers and extracurriculars. Maybe I'll see you in East Lansing next fall :) Good Luck!
Finally heard from Hofstra last week. They supplied my username/password and my status checker reads "file pending committee review" as of 12/6. I submitted my app on 10/1. ....Congrats on AU!!! And good luck with the rest of your app process!
Thank you for your suggestions about the wait list process for MSU. I'm working on my personal statement - WHY MSU and a separate one about activities I have been doing since my application was submitted. I wish you the best.
CONGRATS!!!! Fantastic news! I'm in final review now, so hopefully I'll hear something here soon.
Chicago kent is a really good school. Congrats.
Congrats on AU! Its a great school, I just got my acceptance today. Keep waiting for MSU, something tells me they are gonna come around! Good Luck.
Chicago-Kent over DePaul any day! Only hold out for DePaul if you're hoping they give you significant funds. Otherwise Chicago-Kent is much stronger. Another impressive admit for you!
Got them both! Thanks for all your encouragement too! And, yes, definitely got your back on TLS, especially when we are faced with people who are just upset they didn't try harder in law school:-) But for real, yeah. Hopefully we'll hear back from Hofstra about $$. Why didn't you apply to St. John's or Brooklyn? Lately, the more I learn about Santa Clara, the more I like it. What are you thoughts? Feel free to email me! Maybe we'll be at the same place in 8-9 months.
I sent you a quick email. I think you should definitely apply for the Hofstra Fellowship! I think you would really like NY. I'm still complete at Loyola too--it seems like a great Chicago option.
Congratulations on your acceptances thus far and good luck with scholarships! We may be classmates in the fall based on your choices!
That's what i'm talking about good job.
when do you think you will be withdrawing?
Thank you and good luck to you too! I was waitlisted at Loyola last cycle so I am hoping for something better this cycle. Based upon your numbers I am sure you have a great shot at getting in. I see we applied to a few of the same schools, perhaps we will wind up at the same place!
