Additional info & updates

I applied last year, my senior year, with a 149 lsat and was wailtisted everywhere. I wasnt psyched on going to any of the schools I applied to so I decided to wait a year.

10-24 Lsat came back, 160. A huge improvement but not as high as I had hoped.

10-25 Applied to Mizzou and SLU as realistic options, umkc as backup and Alabama as a reach.

11-11 I got a small white envelope saying I was in at MIzzou. I am going to law school. I got the letter back so quickly that I am not even going to spend the app fee at kc.

12-4 Still playing the waiting game. Mizzou's big white envelope with financial stuff hasnt come yet. Someone reported today that SLU decisions might have been mailed today. It would be nice to have options. I am sure I am getting kicked to the end of Alabama's cycle for a decision because I am so low in their numbers game. Waiting is no fun.

12-5 SLU status checker changes to decision letter mailed. crossing fingers.

12-16 Acceptance from SLU. It came in a big white envelope with school facts, deposit deadlines, and a nice half sheet of paper saying that I was being considered for scholarships.

Beofre the SLU accpetance MIzzou sent me a christmas card, with real signatures from their recruitment team. I also got a deposit deadline sheet. The card was a nice touch, but the lack of a big envelope full of info was kinda weak. Now that my cycle is basically over, assuming a rejection from Bama, I kinda wish I would have applied to more schools just to prolong the fun.

12-29 December lsat takers just got there score back and I have to admit I am a little peeved. From most accounts Oct. was harder and this test had a much easier curve. My -22 in Oct. was a 160, for Dec a -26 would get a 160. WTF!

1-12 I went to the SLU open house over the weekend. The Career services rep was reassuring and the teacher was pretty good but over all I was very unimpressed. The building was badly outdated and dingy. I think my other schools may be better fits for me.

1-27 I have been neglecting my page lately. My status checker changed from ready for review to pending yesterday. I will more than likely not attend so the rejection will not hurt too bad.

After helping out at a local law firm and getting a new job at a firm as a docket coordinator I am realizing that both of their rosters are stacked with SLU grads. This is making my decision that much harder. Any students from either school want to send me a message with some advice either way?

02/09 - I got my scholarship offer from slu. 39k over 3 years puts it around 20k a yr. I am pretty excited. I may try to get a little more, say 15k/yr just to see if they will compete $ wise with MU. It puts them back in the game. I still dont know what to do. Bama, where is my rejection letter?

02/15 - 15k schooly from MU came last night. This is a pleasant surprise. I had hoped for money but really didnt expect anything. Its amazing how one test can get you from rejection to scholarship $. SO here are the options: 100k - 39 = 61k SLU (95) or 49,500 - 15k = 34,500 MU (59). As much as I would like to stay in st. louis, I cant pass up a law degree from a higher ranked school for half the money. Unless MU completely scares me at ASW I think i have my answer. MU scholly requirement is top half of class if you were wondering. Still no word from my southern contender.

02/18 - I sent an email to slu asking for more money. it couldnt hurt

2/20 I got a not very nice letter from SLU stating my offer was an accurate reprentation of my statistics. Thanks for the big FU SLU.

5/9/09 I finally got dinged from alabama. Did you really need 6 months to send a rejection letter? Way to end the cycle with a bang.

On a separate note I have put down my seat deposit for MU. MIZZOU. The staff and visit really put me at ease though I am still rather nervouse about attending such a large school and being away from my support network> Now I just need to find a damn apartment

Thanks for the comments and good luck to everyone else who still isnt decided..

I'm surprised that you got waitlisted last year. But I applied this year at the end of October and heard by email and then by phone around the 20th. Are you planning on attending mizzou?

No letter from SLU yet...hopefully tomorrow! I think I would be even happier if I heard from Mizzou though...

I'd say my chances of going to Mizzou are pretty good, especially if they give me decent scholarship $$.

It's pretty high on the list. The biggest draw for me is the ADR certificate program. Plus, after working in the legal field for over 4 years, I've learned that MU caries ALOT of clout in Kansas City, which is where I plan to return to practice.

I agree with your sentiment regarding SLU. They are going to be updating the facilities in the near future, but I didn't want to be there while they were in the middle of the renovation. I would suggest retaking the LSAT, even if you are set on Mizzou. It can only help you out in terms of scholarships.

Hey! I was at SLU open house too... I think I may have been sitting in front of you (I overheard some LSN convo and something about waiting on University of Alabama...I was the blond girl in the blue sweater if that was you!) Anyways, I was equally unimpressed with the school, especially after seeing Mizzou and UMKC, especially with the price tag that comes with it. Unfortunately, I keep hearing about how strong it is in Saint Louis and even outside of the area...ugh. Anyways, good luck with the rest of your cycle, hopefully Alabama comes through for you!

Just curious to see if you found out your scholarship totals for St. Louis university after the initial acceptance letter. Best of luck on 'Bama. Thank you in advance for any information!

I attended undergrad at Missouri, but am no longer a resident. If I can re-establish in-state residency, a scholly and in-state tuition would be very hard to pass up. For me to really consider SLU, I think that $$$ are going to have to be very close to in-state at Missouri. In terms of enrollment, SLU Law just feels too big to me.
