Additional info & updates

Not going to law school next fall. I am very scared of the job market, but also kind of relieved. The idea of more intense school right now was keeping me up at night as senioritis set in, especially when it comes with such a hefty price tag (especially when that price is for a not-so-good school, as would have been my case). I'm hanging out on the Mizzou waitlist for now and withdrew from everywhere else. Law school may still be in my future, just not next year. Best of luck to everyone and their decisions!

Thanks! I'm sure you'll hear from Mizzou soon, they seem to be turning out decisions pretty quickly, good luck!

I got my letter from Mizzou back within 2 weeks so I am sure yours will be coming pretty soon.

So how did UMKC tell you that you were admitted into their school?

It's in my top 4, so hopefully I can somehow get in.

I see that we both applied to MIzzou and SLU. I just check my status and nothing has changed. Let me know when you hear something.

Sorry you got deffered at Mizzou, but good luck at SLU!I think you've got a good shot with your numbers and a decision being mailed this early.

NKU

Thanks for the note. I was extremely impressed with NKU and strongly considered attending there over UK. I think I will choose UK because it does have a slightly better reputation, but by no means is NKU a bad school. The campus is pretty ugly, mostly concrete. But the building itself is very sophisticated and nice. The people are extremely friendly and the bar passage / career numbers are awesome for a 4th tier school. I would say if you want to work in Cincinnati or within about 200 miles of there, NKU is a great option. People really do respect it around here. But if you want to practice elsewhere, I would imagine NKU is not that known. Let know if you want to know anything else! I would add that with your numbers you will probably receive a $10,000 a year scholarship, so it would be fairly affordable. Also, the NKY area and Cincinnati are affordable and there is a ton to do. I would highly recommend you at least visit NKU!

I agree. I live about 15 min from SLU. there is no way it was mailed last week and still isnt here.

I have not tried the new admit site yet, just because we have been pretty busy around here. I have several friends who went to UMKC law and loved it, especially if you want to practice in the area.

Thanks! I didn't do one of the optional essays, more because of time issues/me being tired of doing apps lol...anyways, good luck with your apps as well, and props on the spanish fluency!

What's taking the mail so long? My status checker changed on 12/05 to "decision letter mailed" and no letter yet!

Thanks for the comment. Sorry its been a while since I have been on. I was in the back on the left side of the speaker. Immediately after the visit I had all but ruled out slu, but after a few weeks I am rethinking it. I helped out at a law firm that one of my friends dads works for and they are both SLU grads. I also just got a new job at a firm and the associate list is stacked with slu grads. I have no idea what to do now. still no word from Mizzou? I have a feeling my bama rejection is coming soon, status checker changed.

Congrats on admission to UMKC. Good luck with MU. MU would be a fun school, just because of the football team. UMKC is pretty low-key if that would help you stay focused on studying.

I am in the same boat trying to decide between UMKC and SLU. Mizzou rejected me (which hurts considering I live in Columbia!!) I really want to settle in St Louis, so SLU seems the logical choice but the cost is soo high. I don't know what I am doing -- hopefully something will come through!!

Thank you. I'm still waiting to hear from them. I do need to send a LOCI though. Like, two weeks ago probably. Oh well, better late than never I suppose.

yeah I did apply to a lot of schools. i figured since I was applying late in the cycle with a Feb LSAT I might as well cast a big net and see where the chips fall. i'm looking for a school that won't cost me an arm and a leg, hence the applications to a lot of state schools. however I'll probably want to return to Los Angeles to practice so that is also a factor. I haven't really ranked my schools except for my first choice. Loyola LA is my first choice if I can somehow justify the cost... of course, USC or Hastings would be a dream...
