Additional info & updates

Georgetown: 12/16/05: Deferred
3/3/06: Waitlisted........ugh. Anyone who is planning on withdrawing, please, please, please do so. Thank you!

Notre Dame: 2/2/06: Email acceptance w/ 10K. This is the first, so at least I know I'll be in law school next fall. (Withdrew in March)

George Washington: 2/14/06: Email acceptance...financial aid forthcoming. (Withdrew in March)

Cornell: 2/15/06: Email acceptance... pretty surprised about it. I'll be going to Ithaca if Georgetown falls through...
4/12/06: Sending in deposit to Cornell.

Northwestern: 2/23/06: Waitlisted. Eh, oh well. Withdrew my app the same day. I didn't have a good time visiting the school and can't see myself there. Hope someone else who wants in will get it instead.

UMich: 3/02/06: Rejected, standard white envelope - not too surprised as I put the wrong law school name in the personal statment. Bad move. At least the letter they sent was very nice.

UPenn: 4/22/06: Rejected. No surprise there.

Duke: 04/25/06: Rejected. I'm a little disappointed with this one :(

August 2006: finally withdrew from Gtown and I'm headed to Cornell.

September 2006: I am loving law school and Ithaca is gorgeous. Good luck to all this application cycle.

Georgetown Deferral
Monday, February 13 2006 at 07:00 PM

The odds say we'll get waitlisted, but I keep telling myself it won't happen to me. At least we both have some acceptances under our belts to make the waiting somewhat easier. Good luck w/Georgetown!

Duke App
Monday, December 05 2005 at 07:00 PM

There wasn't anything extremely special in my app that I can think of. If anything put me over the top besides the numbers, it was a great rec from the Czech ambassador to the US who taught an IR class I took abroad.

I forgot to add...

Good Luck!! Hope to see you are Duke in the fall.

GULC
Thursday, September 08 2005 at 08:00 PM

Hey! Actually it's going to come down to Penn and Georgetown. And, although I LOVED Georgetown when I visited (so much that I even sent a deposit), I think Penn's grading system, class size, and access to Wharton may sway me over. But right now I can't say for sure either way. Best of luck!

Gtown

I do not plan on sitting on the waitlist and will withdraw next week from both Gtown and Northwestern. Screw them both! Give me a simple denial please, not some weak half assed attempt... Hopefully, someone like you who dreams to go there will get the seat. Best of luck. :)

GULC Waitlist
Wednesday, October 26 2005 at 08:00 PM

I live in DC now and I'm leaning towards GW so I'm going to stay on the GULC waitlist. Even if I get accepted the day before registration I can easily make the switch.

Thanks

for the kind words and wonderful advice. It's a tough call, but I think you're right. Congrats so far, and good luck with Georgetown!

still reading this?

Probably you're not reading this anymore -- but if you are, does Portland plus liberal arts mean you're a Reedie? If so, who are you? Just curious... there's 150 Reedies in the LSDAS database from the past three years, apparently, but darn if I know any of them, so I'd be curious if I found one through this forum.
