Additional info & updates

4/27: Got my umich email address. Now it seems official.

4/23: DECISION MADE! I'M GOING TO MICHIGAN!

4/19: Decision date moving to Monday. This week has sucked.

4/15: Liked Berkeley. Rats. Supposed to call Michigan tomorrow about $ inquiry.

4/12: After travel disasters, I am in Berkeley. The law school is almost as ugly as rumored, but campus is pretty in general, Berkeley seems like a cool town, and the people I've met so far are nice. Tomorrow is the official admit day program.

4/10: Received merit financial aid info. from NYU: $25,000 total. Faxing Berkeley matching scholarship program form today and they said they'd try to give me an answer by April 19th.

4/9: Even though I was just informed of a big email whoopsy I made, I'm leaning strongly towards Penn today.

Excited to go to Berkeley on Wednesday. Although now I'm feeling a little hung up on the fact that 70% of last year's alums work on the Pacific Coast...

4/8: Marked some official withdrawls. Hopefully these will open up space and $ for others!

4/4: Headed to Chicago today. I'll be touring U. of Chicago tomorrow. Then next Wednesday I head to Berkeley for my final law school visit.

UPDATE: Offered Levy Scholarship at Penn. I'm amazed. And even more confused decision wise.

4/1: Scholarship offer from UVA waiting in my mailbox. Most likely not enough to compell me to choose UVA over Michigan offering a similar amount. Going to go visit Chicago on Thursday. Anxiously awaiting Penn's decision on the Levy scholarship. As much as I liked Columbia and NYU, something in my gut tells me my final decision will come down to Michigan and Penn (and maybe Berkeley, but I haven't been there yet).

3/29: Liked Columbia as well. Still very confused about everything. NYC is pretty amazing.

3/26: Liked NYU today. But I'm not a Furman finalist (lady in admissions said they sent out all letters last week), so that likely means no $ from NYU. If I get the awesome scholarship I was invited to apply for at Penn, I really can't see what difference 2 ranking spots really means. Although some students at NYU tried to convince me there's a big difference in the perception of top 5 schools vs. top 10 schools.

3/24: Really liked Penn. Now it's Michigan and Penn at the top of the pack of places I've visited. Changing ranks to reflect only places that I've visited and places I plan on withdrawing from.

3/21: George Washington also so-so. Oh, and I realized today that the class I sat in on yesterday at Georgetown was taught by the author of the Patriot Act. *Add your own thoughts here*

3/20: Liked Virginia a lot. Georgetown just so-so.

3/16: Spring break starts today. In the next two weeks, I will be visiting Virginia, Georgetown, GW, Penn (admitted students day), NYU, and Columbia (admitted students day). Crazy.

3/13: Need to dig out all of my school reply forms. I think I have 3 (possibly 4) places I can now cross off my list. At least that's a start.
I wish Harvard would just go ahead and reject me so that I'd have all my decisions in.

3/10: Loving Michigan madly.
Got an email invite to apply for the Levy Scholars Program at Penn. Exciting!

3/6: Leaving tomorrow afternoon for Michigan. Going to the official admitted students programming on Th, Fri, Sat morning. Also meeting with someone in another dept. to talk about joint-degree opportunities.

Emailed NYU to see if they could tell me when all Furman finalist notifications would be sent out. I'm getting impatient. I want all the information from all schools so I can start processing it!

3/2: "Alternate" for Georgetown Dean's Scholarship (I'll get a final answer by 4/9). Virginia said they'll tell scholarship amts. by March 31st.

3/1: Labeled my current choices in clumps (without regard to $, which will probably play a factor, and before visits). I also reserve the right to change on a whim.
Hoping to hear about scholarships from Georgetown and Virginia this week.

2/22: Chicago just called...I'm in!
Heard last week from Georgetown that I'm a finalist for their Dean's Scholar scholarship and Wash U is considering me for a scholarship as well. Also got an email last week or the week before about Berkeley's "matching" scholarship application. Intriguing.

Scholarship offers are for the 3-year total amount (listing merit scholarships only)

to completely spam your wall with ridiculous messages--but based on other people's profiles and scores and whatnot, I bet you get a full ride + housing from GWU. That would be freakin' amazing!

congratulations

on GW and Michigan. That is so funny about Virginia. You, Nick Fogg, and I got the update email on the same day. Coincidence? I think not...

I got an email today - it's a typo in the letter. You just have to tell them you would live there by 2/22 and it's not even a commitment to attend.

Hey, did you get the email I sent you about 2 weeks ago? It was probably auto-diverted to your spam folder. It's from the email address below:

in my book. They both say, "hm, we're not sure if you are good enough yet, but we'll get around to it...later...sucker." But yeah, I got the same email you did. Go us!

I didn't run into you this whole weekend. I kept my eye out and kept hearing, "oh, there's another girl here from that school, right?" but never managed to find you! Cheers,

I haven't found any great prospects yet, only slightly OK ones. I've been using craigslist to search, which is OK but frustrating because a lot of people repost their listings every freakin' day. What about you?

I am so proud of you!!! I have no right to be whatsoever, but you are amazing!

I'm really interested in attending Northwestern (Fall '08)... did you do anything special in the application process with them, did they offer you a scholarship immediately, etc, etc? Were there any strings attached to the money? (Right now I'm testing between 171 - 176 on practice tests) Thanks for the help and congrats!
