Hope all is well with you, nonetheless.
No surprise there. You're certainly in good shape now.
Wonderful, wonderful score! Of course, I am not surprised. Go Columbia!
You look like you're bound for an amazing school, too. 3.96 in EE is crazy. Good luck!
have to echo halpert -- my best friend's an EE and i cry when i think of his workload (and he cries when he sees his GPA). 3.96 gets my eternal respect.
i really wondered if i wanted to tell the adcomms that i was a bellydancer -- i worried that they wouldn't take me seriously. it's turned out well so far...i'm really hoping that i get a TStock call, and that he asks me about it, and i tell him that i'll start a HLS bellydance team if he takes me ;)
I did submit an addendum, although I rec'd advice for and against it. I was somewhat ill in June (who knew you could run a temperature in the summer?) and it really hurt my performace (coupled with my nerves and a freezing test room). The third section (LR) killed me . . . I was tired, feeling terrible, and fading fast before the break. I got talked out of cancelling the score by fam/friends. In retrospect, I'm kinda glad it was so low, since I likely would not have retaken anything above a 168. Good luck with your apps and congrats on your new score!
Yea, I was really surprised when I got the NYU acceptance in their first batch. I read on LSD that they were averaging, but I think I'm proof that they aren't (at least for large point differences like ours), because with a 168 average I'm far from an autoadmit. I've had my apps complete since mid-Nov, and while you're not really early, you're not too late either. Your softs are much better than mine too. You should be fine. Good luck with NYU and the others.
We'll see:) NYU is much closer to home, though, but the deferral definitely gave me a little bitterness towards them.
Hey there, Yes the LSAT is real :). I applied to a large number of schools because of my rather wide split...we'll see how it ends up. Hope you hear back from your schools soon!
I randomly came across your profile and just wanted to let you know that it cracked me up. Major Dad? Brilliance. Sheer Brilliance.
Congrats on the LSAT re-take! With that great scpre and a stellar engineering GPA, I'm sure you'll have a great cycle, but good luck! :)
Thanks! I'm sure you're going to have a great cycle too, with your numbers. Best of luck!
love the class rank ;)
Wish you good luck, too!! Doubt I'll be sweeping but still holding out irrational hope for Harvard and Boalt! :)
And to answer your question, yeah, my major is really zoology. But it's not as glamorous as it sounds... no tan button down short sleeve shirts and matching khaki shorts for me. It's just a biology major, but without all the botany :)
Your numbers aren't too shabby either!! I'm sure you'll rock this cycle too. Thanks for the good luck wishes - your comment was sort of funny since I just took out about half of the useless info that was crowding up my "blog" - hope I left enough to be helpful and not too much to be irritating. At any rate, thanks for the comment. Every one is appreciated :)
I decided it looked stupid! and adcoms from Yale would hate me once they saw my enthusiasm for all these other schools! now it's so matter of fact and dry, no one can take offense. I hope... haha. :`,
I would totally go there if they let me in :) I LOVED Nashville when I was there this summer. I did read about UNLV's new moot court, it sounds pretty cool but I'm not sure I want to live in Vegas again, 10 years was long enough.
Good Luck. All of your schools look great. I am sure you will get plenty of offers.
Yup. BS in Electrical Engineering. Howard Hughes represent! :P
Thanks for the comment...it's about time!! What are the chanes we'll both end up at either Boalt, CLS, or Chicago? I say good pretty good.
We definitely are numbers twins. Good luck with all your apps!
Impressive stats. Represent us Rebels well!
So I was down in Vegas all week visiting my parents and I guess UNLV isn't AS BAD as I've been making it out to be. If they give me some $$ I may just end up there after all. But I won't be taking part in any of the "REBEL" celebrations thats for sure, too proud to be wolf I guess ;)
for the congratulations. your profile cracks me up!
I was tempted to go visit but the week flew by so fast I decided I'd rather spend it with my friends/family. If I go down again before they reply to me I'm going to visit for sure.
Yea, I'm glad to be complete at Columbia. I had to send in my dean's certificate from my community college. Let's hope for the best.
I was out the whole time, until I applied last week! hee hee. I was just too easliy identifiable, that's all. :P I will come back out though once I actaully start hearing back. Let's keep our fingers crossed! :)
Twelve applications is the right number.
Our stats are quite similar - even down to the two LSAT scores! We have many shared apps too, so looking forward to seeing how this goes for you. Best of luck!
hurry up and get in more places so i can congratulate you. perhaps we'll both end up at the same school and start the bellydancing club together? (though it seems TStock isn't too thrilled about the prospect, as he's not given me a ring yet...)
Thanks for the congrats, and I have to say, your comment made my laugh so hard - it's going in my AIM profile :-) I hope HLS does let me go soon, haha. Anyway, I haven't posted a message on your LSN yet, so I'll say good luck wtih all the apps! Tough choices are coming up soon for you!
vibes...vibes... Those are my good vibes being sent ;) Goodluck! It was a great feeling, and took me about 5 tries before I could actually read the letter!!
A bit of both actually. I was afraid to open it and so when I finally took the letter out all I saw was "congratulations" underlined in pen a few times. Then after freaking out I got through the first sentence, etc etc. :)
Hey Mike! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you as well (although with your new kick ass score, you hardly need it)! Good luck babe! Annie
listen, we are going to the same law school. i've decided. get ready to be on the bellydance squad. also, this may mean you'll have to downgrade your final decision, since you're smarter than i am -- but you know...that's okay. i promise i'll make it worth it (ow-owwwwww!!)
my sentiments exactly... best of luck to you th
my sentiments exactly... best of luck to you th
i managed to fuck up my post and somehow post it twice... sorry man, i meant to say good luck this cycle but with your numbers you wont need it...
Thank you so much! Good luck, but as has already been said, you definitely don't need it!
for the heads up. By the time I get used to '07 it will be '08. 'Gratz on GW. Nice to get the first one under your belt, yes?
hi babycakes -- tstock phone call in the next week. seriously. i am going to bring up bellydancing. i'll keep you posted.
Those vibes must have helped! Congrats on GW! :)
Looks like we're pretty similar, I too am leaving EE to go to law school... Honestly the happiest thing I've thought about since deciding to go to law school was the fact that I will never see another laplace transform ever again... I'm hoping to get lucky at stanford and maybe get in off waitlist or something...
Ironically, I used to be that way until I taught it...
Love your newest 'tar, by the way.
but my stuff is April Fresh. Way to go on G-dub (my half-assed attempt at sounding cool). Provided you get into all your targets, which is your preference? You probably wrote it earlier, but I'm too damned lazy to look. Rock it on.
Haha I know, hopefully I'm laughing all the way to some more of the school on my list! This waiting thing sucks. Do you think if I start mentioning GW in all of my posts, an adcomm will get wind and accept me based purely on the fact that I can offer free advertising? GW
on your GW acceptance and full tuition scholarship. it's also awesome how you raised your score...i remember reading some of your posts on LSD after the september test and thinking, 'that's too bad, hope he does better in december.' good luck with the rest of your cycle!
Thanks, I appreciate it. You're like my own personal cheerleader! ;)
CONGRATULATIONS ON GW!!!!!!!! full tuition is freaking awesome.
Thank you for you input, Mr. Dates Nazi, but "went" is spelled without an apostrophe. ;-) --The Spelling Nazi
Thanks for the info about housing! Hope you hear back from other schools soon!
congrats on GW and the scholarship! Hope to see you at the ASW
Good luck to you too... not sure what your first choice is, but I'm sure you'll have your pick with those numbers :)
MIKE I WANT COLUMBIA AND I WANT IT NOW [cue impatient tantrum]
i'm really worried too. seriously. if i don't get it today or monday, i'm going to count myself out (and just obsess about the harvard decision instead) p.s. i'm a lowly 4.3 to your 4.4, so it actually makes me feel better that you've not gotten it either. although you're further away and i'm in baltimore. uh-oh
Goodness! Congratulations!! Definitely moving on up from those "big city nights" ;). Thats one heck of a first response!
come to harvard with me. let's forget columbia.
Am I the only one who got the carbon rod joke? Come on, people, watch your Simpsons!
hey what was the process and how long did you study for the lsat? What did you do different for the retake? any personal advice? thanks
I decided not to apply to GWU because I have better things to do with 80 dollars than just throw it away (unfortunately). ;)
yeah - didn't really see cls waitlisting me, but whatever i just hope it harvard doesnt go the way of columbia
I think my vibes may have been used up in the amazingness of GWU, but I'll try again... Vibes....Fabulous Vibes.... ;) hope all is well
thanks about ave maria, the money is more exciting than the school but if I don't get any more $ from anywhere else i'm sure those catholics will be looking pretty nice :) LOL. I have my fingers crossed for some Harvard love to you.
The "real" Sydney Bristow speaks 23 languages. I speak four, but only one of them well. Maybe I should change my profile. ;) I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you and CLS! I don't want to see you in the hold club.
Thanks for the congrats! Totally unexpected for me sure sure :) Congrats on a the full scholarsip to GW!! They are such a good IP school.
well, after seeing all of those people with 174s and 3.8s being waitlisted and deferred I was getting ready for a ding, so seeing that reserve letter actually made me kinda happy! And late congrats on that awesome scholarship! That's one sweet deal!
Prestijus indeed:)
Actually, I have no idea why CLS would take me in so quickly. Just grateful they did. As for my softies, I didn't really think they were that special. But if you're interested: Founder of a current affairs discussion group, Pres of Asian Students Assoc., Student rep for the Poli-Sci Faculty hiring committee, choreographer for hip-hop group, TA & research assis. for Econ Dept. Selected for the National Dean's list. PR & non-prof internships. Maybe it helped that my GPA has a pretty strong upward trend (I can't see why they'd admit me otherwise). Maybe it's because I'm international? Really, though I dunno why. Just very very happy. Btw - you've got a really funny profile. :) Good luck on this cycle! I'm sure you'd do spectacularly.
haha, yeah, we debate together and OD on coffee together at our local cafe. Nice to meet you. Wow, would love to your GW stat, lol. --Nick
Sorry to hear about CLS :( Your vibes must work better than mine :/
about Columbia; we have the same index #, so you shoud get positive news too!
Congrats! Looks like I should have applied to GWU in my scholarship quest '07 :)
YAY! :) Congratulations!!
Congrats! I'm sure there are many more to come.
YAY! Congratulations! :) I guess I had good timing checking the "application updates" page. I'm happy to hear more good news for you :)
Congratulations on Michigan and Georgetown!
Congratulations on Michigan and GULC! I'm guessing this will be the beginning of a wave of good news for you.
I'm leaning YLS (who wouldn't be?). But Stanford and Harvard obviously aren't out of the running -- I have some visits to make. Waiting to hear on money from Chicago and UVA, though I'm not that optimistic. My best chance at a major scholarship was Michigan, I thought, but that didn't come through. Still, I have a lot of warm feelings for Michigan, and I can't bring myself to withdraw just yet, even though the money they're offering isn't really significant enough to trump YLS, HLS, or SLS with their good LRAPs.
congratulations on being a TOP 50 LSN USER! I wish I was a top 50 LSN user. :)
look at all the love for EE just pouring in! :) I knew those vibes would pay off eventually :)
Don't tell me the EE major is superstitous?? :-) Anyway, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. You should throw some salt over your shoulder too, just in case, and avoid black cats and creepy people. Okay, I made up the creepy people part, but it can't hurt to avoid anyway!
Yay for the Dean's Scholarship!! That's awesome!!!
Thanks man, 'preciate that. I went complete on 11/6/06... so a LONG time ago :) But hey that's alright with me. Pretty stats there. Too bad there were only 9 in your class. Can't bode well for exposure to diverse cultures, problem solving, basketweaving and the like. :)
yes, I got the chicago acceptance on monday, and it was a phone call from Anne Perry.
I'll show you inanimate! Best of luck for the rest of the cycle.
Um I did not get the 7 of 9 joke, but then again, I'm a hapless English major for whom numbers is a foreign concept... So it looks like UMich ASW #1 was a success- but of course, ASW #2 is going to be SO MUCH BETTER! :P Excited? Excited!
no, but I just sent in my parents' income tax report yesterday, so that's probably why :-P On the other hand, I now have a plan to get all my stuff to either Michigan or Chicago for about $500 (versus 1K for literally 7 boxes) so I'm feeling pretty good. And I see you just got a lot of money from UMich - congrats! I'm jealous of your scholarship!
Yes I called, and I see you did too. I'm shocked you didn't get in! Oh well, you have some great offers in front of you!
Rejected over the phone? Wow...I'd pay to have heard that conversation. Sorry Dude, but never frown, you'd rather be a wolverine anyway!
I know. Please come to Michigan. F' GW and their money, you like Michigan so much more, remember?
I'd have to have an amazing super-fantastic ASW/gut feeling about Chicago to change my mind. Or Yale calls (hah). So most likely yeah. Do you promise that if I go, you'll go?
Have you weighed in the transition to colder winters in Michigan?
What was the date on your letter? Thanks
So GW's out? I think that's a good thing considering your other offers. Good money at a T14 is worth a lot! Good luck.
congrats on deciding on a school!! Michigan is cold!!! Are you prepared for a summer that doesn't reach 120 degrees?! LOL
Apparently, other people are concerned about the cold weather too. Hey, I grew up with it. Ive done my time. Im moving on to warmer places. For the Michigan education/reputation though, its worth the three years. Besides, there is nothing wrong with real, green grass in the summer instead of dry sand.
Man, don't let anyone disparage your admission outcomes for this cycle. You performed well enough to be accepted at nearly every law school you applied to this cycle. Only the fact that you applied late in the cycle kept you from gaining more acceptances. Anyhow, you proved how outstanding a law school prospect you are by gaining acceptances to Michigan and Georgetown. Grads from these schools are recruited and paid very well by some of the top law firms in the country. Furthermore, Columbia is still a possibility. So you certainly have done well despite the fact that you applied late in the cycle. Stay encouraged my friend.
On the Michigan congrats. See you in the fall.
Have you decided where to live yet? How are you looking for housing?
Yeah, I've been looking at craigslist. It is really irritating how people re-post every day. I'm also hoping the summer sublet stuff will go away soon. I also haven't completely ruled out the Lawyer's Club...I have mixed feelings about it, so I sent in the application.
Congrats on Chicago! I still kind of have a crush on Chicago.
so does the UChi acceptance change your UM plans?
I don't think I like reverse chronological. I didn't like it in Memento, and I like it less on LSN. But I understand if your mother made you do it that way. I'd do what she said, too--she's built like a linebacker, after all, and you're not.
Man, what is happening to you right now is good stuff. So congratulations on all the latest acceptances and dilemmas! Check your email, for I have some possible answers to your present, delightful predicament.
Hope your next LSAT goes spectacularly, and I think it will.
