Additional info & updates

I have no idea what happened the first time. I was practicing at around a 172 average. I was a bit nervous going in, and I didn't have time to practice on the most modern tests (>35 or so). I did about six or seven from 40-49 between Sept. and Dec., wasn't nervous because I knew I'd do better than that 161, and voila.

Hope your next LSAT goes spectacularly, and I think it will.

You've disappeared!
Monday, October 16 2006 at 08:00 PM

Hope all is well with you, nonetheless.

And I was right!
Monday, October 16 2006 at 08:00 PM

No surprise there. You're certainly in good shape now.

That's It!
Saturday, September 02 2006 at 08:00 PM

Wonderful, wonderful score! Of course, I am not surprised. Go Columbia!

Thanks
Friday, December 15 2006 at 07:00 PM

You look like you're bound for an amazing school, too. 3.96 in EE is crazy. Good luck!

:)
Tuesday, December 26 2006 at 07:00 PM

have to echo halpert -- my best friend's an EE and i cry when i think of his workload (and he cries when he sees his GPA). 3.96 gets my eternal respect.

:)

i really wondered if i wanted to tell the adcomms that i was a bellydancer -- i worried that they wouldn't take me seriously. it's turned out well so far...i'm really hoping that i get a TStock call, and that he asks me about it, and i tell him that i'll start a HLS bellydance team if he takes me ;)

re: Score Addendum?
Sunday, October 29 2006 at 07:00 PM

I did submit an addendum, although I rec'd advice for and against it. I was somewhat ill in June (who knew you could run a temperature in the summer?) and it really hurt my performace (coupled with my nerves and a freezing test room). The third section (LR) killed me . . . I was tired, feeling terrible, and fading fast before the break. I got talked out of cancelling the score by fam/friends. In retrospect, I'm kinda glad it was so low, since I likely would not have retaken anything above a 168. Good luck with your apps and congrats on your new score!

Re: you give me hope
Saturday, April 29 2006 at 08:00 PM

Yea, I was really surprised when I got the NYU acceptance in their first batch. I read on LSD that they were averaging, but I think I'm proof that they aren't (at least for large point differences like ours), because with a 168 average I'm far from an autoadmit. I've had my apps complete since mid-Nov, and while you're not really early, you're not too late either. Your softs are much better than mine too. You should be fine. Good luck with NYU and the others.

Re: CLS - riiight:)
Wednesday, March 29 2006 at 07:00 PM

We'll see:) NYU is much closer to home, though, but the deferral definitely gave me a little bitterness towards them.

Hey there, Yes the LSAT is real :). I applied to a large number of schools because of my rather wide split...we'll see how it ends up. Hope you hear back from your schools soon!

hahaha
Sunday, October 08 2006 at 08:00 PM

I randomly came across your profile and just wanted to let you know that it cracked me up. Major Dad? Brilliance. Sheer Brilliance.

Thanks and Good Luck!

Congrats on the LSAT re-take! With that great scpre and a stellar engineering GPA, I'm sure you'll have a great cycle, but good luck! :)

Wish you good luck, too!! Doubt I'll be sweeping but still holding out irrational hope for Harvard and Boalt! :)

Thanks for the kind words
Friday, September 29 2006 at 08:00 PM

And to answer your question, yeah, my major is really zoology. But it's not as glamorous as it sounds... no tan button down short sleeve shirts and matching khaki shorts for me. It's just a biology major, but without all the botany :)

wow
Friday, September 01 2006 at 08:00 PM

Your numbers aren't too shabby either!! I'm sure you'll rock this cycle too. Thanks for the good luck wishes - your comment was sort of funny since I just took out about half of the useless info that was crowding up my "blog" - hope I left enough to be helpful and not too much to be irritating. At any rate, thanks for the comment. Every one is appreciated :)

it's my downfall
Friday, September 01 2006 at 08:00 PM

I decided it looked stupid! and adcoms from Yale would hate me once they saw my enthusiasm for all these other schools! now it's so matter of fact and dry, no one can take offense. I hope... haha. :`,

I would totally go there if they let me in :) I LOVED Nashville when I was there this summer. I did read about UNLV's new moot court, it sounds pretty cool but I'm not sure I want to live in Vegas again, 10 years was long enough.

So I was down in Vegas all week visiting my parents and I guess UNLV isn't AS BAD as I've been making it out to be. If they give me some $$ I may just end up there after all. But I won't be taking part in any of the "REBEL" celebrations thats for sure, too proud to be wolf I guess ;)

hurry up and get in more places so i can congratulate you. perhaps we'll both end up at the same school and start the bellydancing club together? (though it seems TStock isn't too thrilled about the prospect, as he's not given me a ring yet...)

Thanks!

Thanks for the congrats, and I have to say, your comment made my laugh so hard - it's going in my AIM profile :-) I hope HLS does let me go soon, haha. Anyway, I haven't posted a message on your LSN yet, so I'll say good luck wtih all the apps! Tough choices are coming up soon for you!

Monday, December 18 2006 at 07:00 PM

A bit of both actually. I was afraid to open it and so when I finally took the letter out all I saw was "congratulations" underlined in pen a few times. Then after freaking out I got through the first sentence, etc etc. :)

Thursday, December 21 2006 at 07:00 PM

Actually, I have no idea why CLS would take me in so quickly. Just grateful they did. As for my softies, I didn't really think they were that special. But if you're interested: Founder of a current affairs discussion group, Pres of Asian Students Assoc., Student rep for the Poli-Sci Faculty hiring committee, choreographer for hip-hop group, TA & research assis. for Econ Dept. Selected for the National Dean's list. PR & non-prof internships. Maybe it helped that my GPA has a pretty strong upward trend (I can't see why they'd admit me otherwise). Maybe it's because I'm international? Really, though I dunno why. Just very very happy. Btw - you've got a really funny profile. :) Good luck on this cycle! I'm sure you'd do spectacularly.

I'm leaning YLS (who wouldn't be?). But Stanford and Harvard obviously aren't out of the running -- I have some visits to make. Waiting to hear on money from Chicago and UVA, though I'm not that optimistic. My best chance at a major scholarship was Michigan, I thought, but that didn't come through. Still, I have a lot of warm feelings for Michigan, and I can't bring myself to withdraw just yet, even though the money they're offering isn't really significant enough to trump YLS, HLS, or SLS with their good LRAPs.

Sadly...
Friday, August 18 2006 at 08:00 PM

no, but I just sent in my parents' income tax report yesterday, so that's probably why :-P On the other hand, I now have a plan to get all my stuff to either Michigan or Chicago for about $500 (versus 1K for literally 7 boxes) so I'm feeling pretty good. And I see you just got a lot of money from UMich - congrats! I'm jealous of your scholarship!

Re: Weather
Monday, September 11 2006 at 08:00 PM

Apparently, other people are concerned about the cold weather too. Hey, I grew up with it. Ive done my time. Im moving on to warmer places. For the Michigan education/reputation though, its worth the three years. Besides, there is nothing wrong with real, green grass in the summer instead of dry sand.

Michigan is great!
Saturday, September 02 2006 at 08:00 PM

Man, don't let anyone disparage your admission outcomes for this cycle. You performed well enough to be accepted at nearly every law school you applied to this cycle. Only the fact that you applied late in the cycle kept you from gaining more acceptances. Anyhow, you proved how outstanding a law school prospect you are by gaining acceptances to Michigan and Georgetown. Grads from these schools are recruited and paid very well by some of the top law firms in the country. Furthermore, Columbia is still a possibility. So you certainly have done well despite the fact that you applied late in the cycle. Stay encouraged my friend.

Thanks

I don't think I like reverse chronological. I didn't like it in Memento, and I like it less on LSN. But I understand if your mother made you do it that way. I'd do what she said, too--she's built like a linebacker, after all, and you're not.
