Additional info & updates

I took the LSAT once and decided to apply as-is. I hope that my GPA and my personal statement serve me better.

Best wishes to everyone this cycle!

01.06.09 - Mailed out a UC Irvine app today! Brand new school with Erwin Chemerinsky as Dean. You won't find this school listed in the numbers... at least not yet.

01.07.09 - Got rejected from UGA via status checker... not off to a good start. :(

01.10.09 - UC Irvine added to numbers Nice!

01.12.09 - So on Friday I paid 16 dollars to overnight a merit scholarship application to Vandy. I realize that even if I do get into Vandy the likelihood of getting a merit scholarship is very very very very small. Therefore, five minutes ago I sent off a PIPS app to American's Washington College of Law with higher hopes of acceptance to both the law school and the program. Wish me luck!

01.16.09 - In the past 24 hours I've been traveling the country meeting with admissions from American, W&M, and now Vandy. All the "interviews" went REALLY well! And now I just received a call from the Dean of Admin at Drexel, I'm in with scholarship! I'm going to law school!!!!!!!

01.25.09 - Toured Fordham and BU this week. Was really impressed by Fordham! American has submitted my PIPS scholarship to a committee for review and Tulane sent me financial aid info...

01.28.09 - Application under review at Berkeley. I shouldn't hold my breath but OMG I am!

01.29.09 - Rejected at UIUC via status checker.

02.04.09 - Waitlisted at American. I'm pretty excited that they didn't outright reject me. I'm gonna work hard to see if I can get off the waitlist ASAP.

02.05.09 - Admitted to Temple!!! Found out via Status Checker.

02.07.09 - Submitted my FAFSA and Need Access App. Need to work on some scholarship essays still...

02.09.09 - Decision made at OSU. Since I haven't received an email or a phone call it looks like I'm not going to be accepted. Gotta wait for the mail to confirm.

02.09.09 - (later today) OMG! I got a call!!! I'm in OSU!

02.09.09 - Wow!!!! In at Tulane via Status Checker!!! Time to get dinner and celebrate a little... :)

02.13.09 - Totally missed it the first time, but rejected at the top of status checker from Berkeley.

02.18.09 - Received my acceptance letter from Tulane in a tote bag... literally! That and my small envelope from Berkeley... not in the tote bag.

02.20.09 - Vandy made a decision and its in the mail. I'm so nervous!

02.25.09 - Waitlisted at Vandy. Not what I was hoping for but it is what I expected... :(

03.07.09 - Received a fat envelope in the mail today from Pittsburgh! I'm in, but since my lil' bro just got accepted there for undergrad I'll be withdrawing soon... Don't want to steal his thunder!

03.09.09 - I'm becoming really impatient and worried over the fact that eight schools have not gotten back to me yet... I figured I would hear back from Wake by now, but that is not the case. In addition, Fordham has had my status stuck on "complete" for 10 weeks! I should have gone away for spring break... the next 7 days are going to be painful!

03.14.09 - Checked my status checker at UC Davis this morning - just for giggles - status changed from "Awaiting evaluation" to "Evaluation in progress." Hot damn! That's the most action I've had all week. ;)

03.23.09 - Rejected from Fordham via Status Checker. This one is not only really disappointing but rather surprising because I had toured the school and met with an admissions counselor individually and she was very excited about my application. I guess not. I emailed admissions and requested that my application be re-evaluated for the Evening Division.

03.25.09 - Waitlisted at W&M via snail mail. I'm thinking about withdrawing... didn't like the place that much.

03.26.09 - Received an email from Wake Forest. They are "extremely interested in my candidacy" but are holding my application until after April 15 to make a decision... sigh.

03.26.09 - Later today, received an email from UC Hastings letting me know that I have been added to the waitlist... JUST TAKE ME ALREADY! I am the queen of waitlists.

04.02.09 - Received a small envelope from BU. The rejection was expected.

04.06.09 - Waitlisted at Wash U via email. I'm supper excited about this! I would LOVE to go there!!! Time to schedule a school visit!

04.12.09 - Small letter from UC Irvine... I'm completely shocked about this rejection. Do they think people with high 160's are really gonna turn down top 20's for them?! Puuuhhhlleeaze!

04.14.09 - Withdrew from Tulane, if it were not for the fact that I want to do public interest, I would probably have chosen this school.

04.15.09 - Wow... the California Schools really don't like me. Received notification that I've been placed on the waitlist at UCDavis. However, based on my numbers, I should have been in. I don't understand. Maybe I should have applied earlier. Ridiculous.

04.20.09 - Well my cycle is done. Time to pick a school and hold out for any waitlists that might come through. I'm mighty disappointed about the new rankings, Temple is tied with Penn State and behind Nova for whatever reasons... yet this is the school I am more than likely going to accept.

06.09.09 - Decided to Defer admission to Temple for a year and do AmeriCorps. Not sure if the school will accept my request and if my deferral is binding. We shall see.

06.26.09 - Deferral from Temple is approved and Non-binding! I have been accepted into an AmeriCorps program and will be withdrawing from law schools. I'm retaking the LSAT in Sept. and may consider reapplying to schools for 2010. Here we go!

07.07.09 - Withdrew from American, Wash U, and Vandy... I think my heart is broken.

How did you hear you were accepted? The online status checker has been telling me that my file is complete for 2 months, but no decision...

I actually received a letter in the mail before my acceptance phone call, so do not be discouraged. Good luck! Congrats on your acceptances so far and good luck with the rest of your cycle- you will get into many more great schools.

Congrats on your acceptances!! Are you planning on remaining on the WL at William and Mary? What didn't you like about the school? I'm planning on going out for a visit, so any info would be helpful.

Good to know...Well, if you don't mind, will you withdraw at W&M as soon as you have made your decision. Hopefully I can get off the WL there, but I know that it is super competitive. I'm hoping for a miracle though! :)

Thanks! I'll admit that it has a lot to do with my love for New Orleans, which is easily my favorite city in America. I haven't visited the law school specifically but visited the campus back when I was looking at undergrad schools and loved it. Plus I want to practice in the south but also have connections back in the northeast, and Tulane is one of those rare schools that places well in both regions. Good luck with your decision!

With regards to wustl, I sent a couple of LOCI and I visited. I think that visiting really sealed the deal. If at all possible, schedule a visit while the Dean / Asst Dean of Admissions are on site. - C
