Additional info & updates

I had a stong graduting GPA of 3.776 with academic honors I did poorly 2.9 my first two year at community college so when the LSAC calculated their version of a cumulative GPA it became 3.19. I really hope this does not screw up my chances of admission to a school.
Also I have had a number (6) of minor encounters with the law when I was younger I am 31 now these events happened when I was 16 - 20 y/o, I disclosed all so im hoping they will take into account that I have had a steady civil service job with NYC for the pst 10 years and have clearly turned my life for the better.
So the app's are out now I just wait and hope the mentioned things above do not hurt my chances. Any advice or comments would be helpful at least for me to know where I stand.
Thanks !

I decided to wast the money applying to Columbia. You never know I may be that one : )

My first acceptance let's hope more to come. Touro not my first choice but at least I know I will be attending a school.

Waitlisted at Hofstra! Even though Hofstra is not my first choice It get's me nervous. I am awaiting NYLS.

A scholorship in the amount of 12000.00 a year at Touro came today. That is a nice offer still awaiting others.

Accepted at St. Johns for the part time night. I do not want part time I will go to Touro, finish upper percentage in my class than if I want to transfer to a tier 2 +.

Hofstra

I want to practice law in Florida, and Hofstra does not have high job placement in that area. It was a difficult decision, but it didn't make sense for me to go there. Hopefully now that I've withdrawn, a spot will open up for someone on the waitlist who may actually want to attend. Good luck with your applications.

I was just wondering what made you lean to Touro over St. John's? I am in Nebraska and have not had the chance to tour the school, but I have the same idea as you...go there and hopefully excel and then transfer to a Tier 3 at least or maybe Brooklyn Law

why Touro

From what I have heard it is just as easy to transfer from a tier 4 as it is from a tier 3 to an upper tier two such as Brooklyn, Cordozo and even Fordham. My goal is Brooklyn so I figure let me take Touro with the big scholorship, transfer as I would if I were in another school but at least I will have less debt, having paid less tuition my first year.

Congrats

Sorry for repyling late. Congrats on SJU and Touro. I was also waitlisted at SJU, how long did they take to get back on the waitlist decision.

why NYLS v Hofstra
Wednesday, February 28 2007 at 07:00 PM

I went out to visit the campus and the commute was very long, which was the main reason for my decision for NYLS over Hofstra. As far as I know, both of the schools are pretty comprable, so it wasn't that I felt Hofstra wasn't a good law school. My main choice is Rutgers - Newark, and I'm still waiting to here back from them.

Congrats on Touro

How long after your acceptance were you notified about $$? Was the $$ sent to you with the financial aid paperwork or separately?
