Additional info & updates

Minneapolis, Chicago, New York or Boston for the Fall of 2008. Interested in Environmental, Constitutional and Public Interest Law.

*Accepted at 10 schools in the 2007 Cycle, but wanted a year of work under my belt.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

-Albany-
Was accepted in the Fall 2007 enterting class, but deferred until Fall of 2008.

-John Marshall-
Was waitlisted for the Fall 2007 entering class, accepted for the Spring 2008 class. Deferred to the Fall of 2008.

-Hofstra-
Placed on the waitlist via business-sized envelope. I am in the process of writing a statement of continued interest. Would love to go to school here.

-Pace-
Applied Early Decision, was placed on "hold" list. This deferral should be interesting, not quite sure if I will get in here or not, but this is my #1. The hope is to get my dual M.E.M. from Yale. This took a turn when they rejected me. Somewhat surprised, but I guess I have to move on.

-New York Law School-
Called on February 25th and was informed that I was placed on "hold", basically the committee needs more time to review my file. This is somewhat suprising considering I applied in October, but I would love to attend NYLS, especially with the new campus opening up!

UPDATE May 1, 2008:

Toured Albany Law School and was absolutely astonished at how great the campus community was. I met the dean of admissions, as well as numerous 3L's, and I must say this school is amazing!

Toured NYLS, great staff and a nice location. The building will really help boost their rankings, should be done in the spring of 2009. Met with a member of the admissions staff, and I must say that he was quite nice and to the point. Explained that if my GPA was higher, I would probably have had a great shot at getting in. As it is, he says not to worry, they turn to the waitlist. Crossing my fingers here....

*05/06* I was accepted to NYLS as a Part-Time Evening Division Student. I received an email on the 5th from the Dean, asking about my interest in NYLS, and if offered would I accept or not. I am quite pleased to say that today I was offered admittance. I will have details in the coming days...

Didn't get to tour Hofstra, but I would love to attend there. Going to send my deposit to Albany, and I feel excited to possibly live there!

05/29/08 - Sent the $500 deposit to NYLS, and barring an offer from Hofstra I will be attending classes there this fall. I will check this every few days, and I wish everyone out there the best of luck with the last few months of the process. Don't give up hope, you are doing something wonderful and you have the unique opportunity to work for members of society who need help!

06/05/08 - I was offered admission to Hofstra Law! I am ecstatic, can't believe that the process is now over. The deposit is $850, and I will be sending that out early next week. Withdrew and canceled deposit for NYLS, and will begin the process of looking for a place to live with a few buddies in NYC...best of luck to all! I will check this every few days to see how everyone is doing

Questions/Comments/Concerns? Feel free to share. This process certainly has been interesting, I hope that you find the right school to thrive!

Thanks! I want to stay in San Diego, so I am anxiously awaiting for both schools' response.

Boston..

is a little bit far for me as well, but I have talked to several current students there that say it is a great school with good opportunities. Right now I am leaning towards MSU, but I will have to see how some of my other apps go. Good luck to you to!

hey thanks for the post...you've applied to so many schools that I KNOW you'll end up somewhere.. Ithink that RWU, NESL , and Suffolk night program should be no problem for you...nor should Pace. Lately I feel like I'm in trouble and am sending out apps for part-time to the above schools. At this point Albany is my dream, but I MUST be a 1 L SOMWHERE this Sept...I'll keep you informed. Good Luck!

Yeah, I am a Pike here at KSU, so good luck to you too. Right now Michigan State looks pretty appealing to me. What are your target schools?

Hey
Thursday, February 15 2007 at 07:00 PM

what did you write in your continued interest letters to your wait listed schools? I need to write one and not too sure how to go about it.

St Thomas
Tuesday, February 06 2007 at 07:00 PM

Hey, sorry I was slow to respond, I have not been checking this often since I've made up my mind. I did not actually attend the St. Thomas accepted students day. Funny story about how I decided St. Thomas. I toured at Hamline and kinda hated it, but realized how I prefer the Twin Cities to Des Moines, Milwaukee and Omaha, which was a huge selling point for St. Thomas. I also have a good friend from undergrad that is a 1L there and he says it's great. Feel free to drop me an email if you have any more stuff to talk about. See you in the fall?

Drake

Hey there fellow PIKE here...looks like you have a few nice acceptances, what are you going to do about Drake?

Has Hofstra requested any of your LSDAS material yet? They havent done anything with my app yet, and I was curious. Also, you may want to look at Suffolk in Boston, considering your list.

Interview

Have you done an interview with Pace yet? I just got an email confirmation that my application is complete. I'm not sure if I will do the interview, what do you think?

Friday, August 17 2007 at 08:00 PM

What do you know about Touro College? I have thought about applying but am not too familiar with the school. I am going to a law school forum on Monday so I will try to hear more about them.

Tuesday, May 29 2007 at 08:00 PM

Can I know, if you don\'t mind, why you chose NYLS over Albany?
