Additional info & updates

FYI:
All scholarship $ is per year.
Date complete is when I recv'd notice from school.

9/20/08 All transcripts in- LORs are requested and just waiting for drafts. Taking Oct LSAT

11/1/08 Not too excited about my LSAT score so I am retaking in Dec. can't let the nerves get the best of me this time.

11/5/08 Still waiting on one LOR, but sent in most applications today. Received some fee waivers, but not sure I want to attend any of the schools. Shooting for Southern California all the way!

11/7/08 All LORs are in. Sent out more applications- have a few still left to do. Such a weight off my back- now all I have to focus on is LSAT in December.

12/6/08 LSAT felt good- now it is just about the waiting.

12/13/08 Received first acceptance letter from John Marshall! It feels so nice to know that I am really going to law school! The holidays will be so much sweeter after that first yes.

12/29/08 Recv'd new LSAT score today-

1/26/09 Personal call in at Western State with full ride! Couldn't be more excited.

2/2/09 In at Thomas Jefferson and California Western.

2/5/09 Rejected at DePaul- with the day I had I couldn't have expected more.

2/20/09 In at Whittier via email

2/25/09 Still in review at Chapman, Pepperdine, Loyola, and San Diego. Status checker from Southwestern says decision was sent today. I am beginning to get a bit nervous what with the moving across the country in a few months without an idea of where....

2/27/09 In at Southwestern

3/25/09 Wailisted at Chapman via email

3/30/09 Ding letter from Pepperdine- wasn't too surprised by that.

4/16/09 This waiting game is making me crazy. Still waiting to hear from Loyola and Chapman. Going next weekend to find housing in Cali.

4/22/09 Have withdrawn from all schools that I have an answer from except SW. Now just waiting on an answer from Loyola and Univ of San Diego.
4/28/09 Looks like I'm going to Southwestern and that new ranking makes it all the better!

Good luck with your Dec LSAT and applications!

congrats

Congrats on Western State. They called me the other day too!

Friday, June 06 2008 at 08:00 PM

They e-mailed me. Is that one of your top choices?

Friday, June 06 2008 at 08:00 PM

Other than Northwestern I don't really have a top choice. I think each school meets my needs pretty well. I'd like to get into Chicago-Kent (more realistic top choice) but I'd be happy at DePaul if I didn't get in anywhere else.

Why do you want to move from Chicago to Southern California?

Tuesday, February 19 2008 at 07:00 PM

I got an email from Chapman saying that I was waitlisted.

Friday, June 06 2008 at 08:00 PM

That's cool. My girlfriend lives in the OC, but she is looking to move with me if I go to one of the Chicago schools. I hear good news about DePaul and Kent from a lot of people, so I am hoping it works out for me. For the money, if you get into Loyola or San Diego, you should definitely go there. Do you know what type of law you want to get into?

Friday, June 06 2008 at 08:00 PM

Thank you. I hope I love Chicago, I've been hearing rave reviews. I guess we shall see in 2 weeks when I visit. I do have one question: do you have any suggestions on where to find nice apartments for under $1200. I like the Algonquin in Hyde Park, but I'd like to explore other options. I am hoping to get into sports law. There is an entertainment law career day at southwestern, I'll let you know how that goes.

hey

Yup. I'm doing SCALE. I might defer a year to start MBA at Drucker though.

I recommend you look for a place in Silverlake. You don't need a car. Public transportation is really convenient around SW. Email me if you want more detailed information.

SW financial aid app
Thursday, January 29 2009 at 07:00 PM

Did you fill out a financial aid app at southwestern? I didn't receive any scholarship info with my packet, but am wondering if there is still a possibility, or if they are just "awarding" loans at this point. Congrats on SCALE; I'll maybe see you there (but fingers crossed for loyola/USD!) I noticed Silverlake was recommended for housing- I'll be looking there as well as Los Feliz (similar neighborhoods, both nearby, relatively affordable).
