Extra Curricular Information

I am Canadian, attended a local university for three years, transferred to a major provincial university for my last two years (in my last year now).

Not in hiding mode because, well, I'm not sure why people feel their LSN page might be incriminating in the first place. If a school chooses to look here, great. Please accept me. :)

GPA was 3.76, but went to 3.81 after Fall grades. (Transcript processed in mid-January by LSAC.)

Additional info & updates

Choice #'s are Chiashu percentages.

11/22 - Email from Duke saying a decision was mailed. Never received complete notification, nor did I submit their Priority Track form.

11/28 - Several of my LSDAS reports have now taken over three weeks to be requested. I find this somewhat alarming. On the bright side, Columbia finally requested one.

12/04 - Accepted at UCLA via email. Thanks UCLA! My first acceptance (since Duke's letter is yet to arrive).

12/06 - Received acceptance package from Duke via mail.

12/29 - Accepted into Vanderbilt by mail. (Small white envelope.)

01/26 - "Held" at Harvard via email.

01/29 - Deferred acceptance at Northwestern, for Fall '08, with a 120k (40k/year) scholarship offer. Also received an email from Virginia stating a decision has been mailed.

02/02 - Today was a good day. In at Chicago via phone call, in at Virginia via letter, and Duke sent me a letter offering a $48,000 scholarship.

02/06 - Today was a bad day. Put on "hold" at Columbia (letter dated January 31), and rejected at Stanford (letter dated January 31 as well). I expected the Stanford rejection, but I was really hopeful about my chances at Columbia. :(

02/13 - "Hold" letter from Penn dated February 5. My admissions cycle has taken a turn for the worse. (From favorable to neutral, really.)

02/19 - Rejected at Michigan. I'm surprised, but don't really care, as there was no chance I'd attend Michigan over Virginia and Chicago anyhow. (Yield protection works?)

02/26 - Scholarship for $50,000 (25k, 15k, 10k by year) from Chicago arrived in the mail. Letter postmarked Feb 21st, but dated Feb 15th. Thanks Chicago!

03/07 - Rejected at Berkeley via letter. Scholarship offer ($75,000) from Vanderbilt via letter. Received email from Penn that I am in. They had left a message on my answering machine on two weeks ago, but I had not officially be told I was admitted. :)

03/26 - Went to Penn ASW. Had a blast. Got an email intended for NYU admits, so I'll count myself as admitted to NYU, unless a acceptance package doesn't turn up in the next week or two. NYU is pretty interesting. International law, joint degrees with Osgoode, living in NYC... Too bad it's so insanely expensive!

03/29 - NYU acceptance letter came today via mail, dated March 14th. I will be visiting NYU April 20th, and I shall be attending Chicago's ASW April 12-14th. (Hopefully I'll be able to see an NHL playoff game in NYC while I'm there. Keep your fingers crossed!)

04/10 - 50k "Dean's Award Scholarship" from NYU. Submitted financial info around April 2nd. Makes Chicago and NYU roughly comparable in terms of cost, although NYU's budget is said to be unworkable, while Chicago's is generous. Still, very excited!

04/27 - Submitted forms to enroll at Chicago, after having visited NYU, Penn, and Chicago.

It's good to see another physics major on here! Does everyone give you the same confused look when you tell them you're going to law school instead of grad school in the fall?

hey
