I'm the OP.

Dayton

I was sorely tempted by Dayton. The building is beautiful, the staff is really nice, and it's close to home. Unfortunately, they are bound and determined to be the first law school to offer a 5 semester program, regardless of whether the students and faculty like it, or they have the details worked out. I'm not going to be their guinea pig given the cost to me, and I'm not willing to take the chance that I won't be able to find a job in December. Dayton's rep seems to be local to Dayton, so I'm not comfortable with the career options right out of school. A friend of mine teaches at Dayton, got her JD at Cincinnati, and told me to go to OSU. A family member who graduated from OSU Moritz in '04 told me "whatever you do, don't go to Capital". What's a code-slinger to do?

Dan - I received a congratulations email. The letter and and scholarship info came about a week later. Have you visited UD?

You asked...and here it is...my 10 cents on Dayton. I enjoyed my Dayton visit. Keller Hall is state of the art and 7 or 8 years old. The faculty, students and staff I met were all very helpful and answered every question I could think of. I know UD law school alums who rave about the place. They are revamping their curriculum in a couple of ways - the 5 semester option - more on that later. UD is also establishing 3 distinct tracks which you'd enter starting your first semester. I think the tracks focus on specific specialites (technology, general practice, etc.) I suppose the downsides are that UD is one of the most expensive law school in Ohio -over $30K/yr. Jobs wise - most UD grads end up in Cincy, Dayton or Columbus. I don't know much about their out-of-state placement stats. The one unknown at this point is the 5 semester option. Based on the info I've seen, I don't think it is significantly cheaper than 6 semesters. The first year is tough enough, so I am not sure how cramming the other 4 semesters into 3 makes less stressful. Anyway, take a visit. If you are available, there is one tomorrow (Saturday, 4/2). Check out the UD website for more details. UD was cool enough to let me crash the 3/5 open house on about 48 hours notice.

Capital

I couldn't find your e:mail address - I'm relatively illiterate on the computer... Let me know what you know about Capital? I had a great conversation with the Prof/head of the Enviro program yesterday. Meeting him for lunch in a couple of weeks. Still hoping to get off of OSUs waitlist though. Sarah
