Additional info & updates

Legally Blind and physically disabled student..

All rejections, a waitlist, and a defferral were all in standard envelopes, but the waitlists from Hofstra and U. of F. were thick (forms to confirm my desire to be on the waitlist). SU was a large thin envelope with enrollment forms and an academic calendar (just a sheet of paper - nothing fancy).

Albany waitlist was in a small thick envelope, and the rejection came via snail mail in a standard rejection envelope.

how in the world did you get rejected by nyls? maybe you'll get in brooklyn or st. john's. good luck with the remaining apps. do you need special accomodations?

Etc...

I think NYLS is tired of New Yorkers, so they made it tougher (a lot of fellow NY applicants with my #'s were rejected). Special accomodations...I can function to read a laptop, but blackboards are a no go. Also, steps don't work with a shattered foot / leg. I asked St. John's for a shot at their conditional admit program, and sent Brooklyn a letter reaffirming my interest in the school (it can't hurt). We'll see.

Thanks

Hey good luck with all your schools. We have a bunch in common. I'm anxious to hear from Brooklyn, St. John's, and NYLaw. When did you hear from NY Law school? Maybe I'll see at one of your NY schools.

NYLS
Thursday, February 23 2006 at 07:00 PM

I heard from NYLS in late January. They have raised their standards from last year. I suspect several factors (including a new $100 million for a new building) are sending them fishing upstream. They are looking for LSAT scores in the upper 150's and mid 3's on GPA.

Rutgers

Thanks! I applied based on experience. Good luck to you, hopefully you should hear shortly- with your higher gpa and URM status idk why they wouldn't take you! If it coms down to Cuse and Rutgers, which do you think you'll pick/why?

Rutgers vs. Syr
Thursday, February 23 2006 at 07:00 PM

I'd have to say that I would choose Rutgers over Syracuse. Not that Syr is a bad school, but Rutgers has better job placement / higher salaries in NYC, and is ranked #73 by US News vs. Syr's #95. Although Newark is no picnic, there are alot of commuters.

Albany

I am also curious about Albany. What happened? They waitlisted you, then rejected you??? Why? How did you find out? Let me know!

Loyola

Have you withdrawn from Loyola-New Orleans, since you are going to Syracuse. Best of luck!

Thanks

Hey thanks for the message. I am leaning toward going to Vandy Divinity. I think this might be a good idea if I don't get into my top four choices and then reapply after two years. There is no rush. Best of luck at Syracuse! I would have went there if I would have gotten in! Have a great day.
